How far do you think we can go? I think we have a great chance of going to the Conference Finals

I say we have the talent and coaching of a WCF team but the thing about the playoffs is that it's all about matchups. The west is so deep than you can face 50+ win teams in the first or second round. If we get the right matchups then I honestly thing we can make it to the finals. I don't think we are better than the Heat though, in this point in time at least...

I think we are a west conference finals team that could make it to the finals. The 2nd round would be tough because let's say we're a 3rd seed. We could lose to the 2nd seed which could be okc or SA. I expect us to at least make the west finals, but the worst, baring major injuries should be the 2nd round.

If we don't make it to the WCF, it's a failed season. Anything beyond that is just icing on the cake for me.

We have a very good chance of making the WCF. Anything beyond that I can't say. Like someone else mentioned we will need a bit of luck to make a deep run. Making it to the Finals/WCF in the West is harder than making the Finals/ECF in the East.

Too hard to predict without knowing what the defense will look like and how Blake's work will translate into on court improvement.

Not to mention without really knowing how exactly other teams will play out, such as Houston, Golden State, OKC has some young guys that could improve as much as any other young guys. I think preliminary predictions are so hard with all the changes.

I only say lose in the Finals because of LJ. Lebron might just be too hard to stop....

Who knows though....

I think we lose in the Semi's. I have a feeling we'll be at best, the 3 seed in the West. With OKC at 1 or 2, and either San Antonio or Houston as the 2 seed. Which would give us either Memphis, Golden State, Houston or SA or Denver our 1st round opponent.

Then we'd have to match up against either San Antonio or Houston in round 2 ( as the 3 seed always plays the 2 seed in round 2 if both teams advance ). I just can't see us getting by San Antonio if they play like they did the last few seasons, when they were just beasts.

Houston I feel we could make a run at, but I can't say for certain how good or mediocre they might be. And playing any of the teams I mentioned in round 1, we won't beat any of those teams in 5 games. Meaning a 6-7 game series where we get beat around would be tough. SA will make quick work of just about anyone in round 1, and I'd really hate to give SA another 3-7 days off in between series' again.

if anybody thinks we're beating memphis next year with blake and DJ as our big men, they're going to be in for a rude awakening.

we solved the shooting problem, but the biggest concern is with our frontcourt.

This team is different. Memphis can't compete in a seven game series with this shooting, we will outpace their defense with the 3 ball just like San Antonio did in the WCF. And this team WILL be a top notch 3 point shooting team. Our wings are lethal from distance

What I have to remember is we were able to beat these guys in the regular season and in the 2012 playoffs with these guys. We also have to remember that Doc and Alvin will have more competent offensive schemes than we were using this past season. We also know that Doc is going to focus on better team defense. I have no real concerns about Blake's defense. It's DJ's I was disappointed in. Doc thinks DJ can turn into a consistent rim protector. I will trust him for now.

There were some other crazy circumstances that led to our loss as well. Blake's injury (he needs to stop spraining stuff in the post season). Playing Chauncey when he obviously didn't fit. Not doubling Zach. And Memphis shooting lights out from 3 in at least one particular game!

IT depends on Griffin and Jordan if their defense and BBIQ improve a lot will make it to WCF.

Bulls won 6 championship without a solid post up player and dat was the 90's. clippers has a chance if evryone is on the same page and believe the coaches system. Theres a possibility we can win it all aslong as the players know their roles and not trying to do too much

I think that we have a chance to go all the way and take everything but we need to add some back up bigs. Just need two more players FO! A PF and someone who can play both the 4 and the 5 spot which I don't think will be hard to find, I think that this new coaching staff is going to work wonders for our team. Doc with the defense and Gentry with the offense, sounds like a system that cannot fail with the right pieces and we have almost all of those pieces. Forget about the luxury tax, what's 2.8-2.9 million more, which will take us to a grade total of around 6.8 million into the luxury tax, for a championship year with tons of revenue that can pay off the fee without feeling a thing. As we stand we can make it to the WCF, maybe even win it, but we're only two moves away from becoming golden. Come on FO get it done!

If the Clippers play defense like last season's playoffs, even shooting won't be able to save the team. On the other hand, even if the Clippers only match their offensive production vs Memphis this past playoffs and defend them as well as the average team did in the regular season, they win. That's really all that was needed, defend as well as the average team was capable of defending Memphis, pretty sad isn't it?

You can't count the Bulls, they ran the triangle and Jordan WAS their post-up player.

Blake is a fine enough post up player, but post play is overrated if people thnk it's good just for the sake of it. The advantages of post player are consistent scoring and it's ability to draw defenses and create shots from double team. The scoring in the post itself is not the biggest advantage, it's the efficient scoring that it produces for the rest of the team that is bigger. That is unless you have a dominant post-up player like a Shaq, Hakeem, Kareem, etc who give you both the high level interior scoring, consistency, and playmaking and passing.

...but you can compensate for that, and Blake can draw double teams, has great awareness and can pass very well from the post. Clippers don't need to worry much about that

defense will improve. we will sweep them if we face them again. too many weapons. we now have 3 knockdown 3 point shooters. last year our best shooter was willie green. zbo won't be able to grab griffin without allowing griffin to pass to reddick or dudley. our team got a little younger since dudley, reddick and bullock essentially replaced butler, hill and green from the the small forward and shooting guard positions.

Good luck Ftw, is that police, highway or other? Either way good luck man. Hopefully you get a chance to watch some games.

I think its to early to tell, but I am gonna be a homer and say we win the finals. We still need (probably two but at least one) back up bigs, hopefully Ivan Johnson and Camby.

With a full team we still need everyone to learn and be effective with docs defensive system. Blake needs to be able to dominate maatchups and games altogether. Defense and rebounding need to be a priority across the board. If the team gets these things done I think a championship can be attained.

Agreed, a 1st or 2nd round exit would be a disappointment. But the season hasn't even started so I'd rather focus a little less far ahead. Like what's happening with our back up Big. Our front court needs some bolstering.

Unless DJ happened to turn into an actual player over the summer, we are destined to struggle somewhere between round 2 and the conference final. I give it 5% chance DJ actually has some game this season, which means our championship chances are in the 3-4% region!

By the way, forget about Memphis! This season we have two much more impressive and dangerous teams in Houston and Golden State. Unless we somehow manage to get the first or second seed, we will probably have to figure out how to play teams much different than Memphis. Get ready for a repeat of the Suns series 7 years ago with a bunch of high-scoring games with GSW in the second round!

Memphis will still be a threat due to their bigs but yes other teams have gotten better and should be higher in the standings but if Memphis finish 6th they will be a tough first round match-up for sure.

Blake's gotta have an MVP season to reach the WCF. A lot of shooters not enough size or minutes. I'm not sure Blake/DJ is better than Duncan/Splitter, Zbo/Gasol, Howard/Asik. Is Reddick/Dudley a better shooting combination than Curry/Thompson??

Looking forward to the season and watching Blake elevate his game. I think he needs to average 25 and 12 for this team to be in position to make a title run. With so much talent in the West everything is up for grabs. Doc is gonna earn his 7 mil.

I don't think Blake's got to have an MVP season. He definitely needs to be healthy by that time for us to have a chance. I believe we can hang with just about any team but its all about getting the right plays and a backup plan if that falls through as well as getting the correct matchups and timely substitutions when necessary. With Doc, I'm hoping we won't see any of those shortcomings come playoff time.

While almost a month may have given me more time to change my opinion I still say a round 2 loss is imminent. I really feel the reason why we won't get far is because of DeAndre Jordan and our lack of solid backup big men. Byron Mullens is a nice fit for a 2nd unit. He can play the 4 or the 5, rebound average and give us the ability to really allow Crawford to Isolate, and gain some respect by his ability to hit the outside jumper. Ryan Hollins is the 2nd big man we have and he's really only a 5-12 minute player. And those minutes usually aren't in a great succession outside of playing in blowouts.

DJ needs to be able to give us 32MPG minimum on the court per game in the playoffs. But he's honestly a giant liability via the hack a free throw strategy and his inability to contribute on either ends of the court. Sure he can get 1.5 blocks or more a night and 7+ boards, but with his size, athleticism and skill set 2+ blocks and 10+ boards should be the minimum. He looks lost out there, he isn't a good man defender and he whiffs trying to make big plays. Also, he really looks forward to fast break plays more than he should, as he's not a fast break player really. He sorta gives me the impression he looks for others to make up for his inability to play harder on defense, so he can be ready for the highlight play on offense.

We need a Center whose going to know his role, give us 30+ MPG and care more about the gritty than the glamor. This is why Tyson Chandler and others around the league are used a lot and regarded as top tier centers.

I think Blake gets more involved in the playoffs, but without a better man defense/grinder defense and above average post game I really can't see us getting past round 2, barring a miracle. And CP3 is usually only good for 1-2 wins per postseason all by his self.

This is a team game, but big men ESP in the West are crucial. Memphis, Houston, San Antonio and OKC have great defensive big men, and if Golden State can keep Bogut healthy, Denver plays around as good as they did last year we are in for some trouble. Duncan, Ibaka, McGee, Mozgov, Perkins, Gasol, Randolph, Howard and so on and so forth are really hard to work around. Miami must feel lucky being able to use Lebron at PF and really only having to worry about 2 teams in the East that are good enough all around, and better in the paint ( Indiana and Chicago ) that they can usually sneak by these teams.

Was reading a bleacher report article pointing out 10 players in the NBA that are going into make or break seasons. And though I disagree that this is a Make-or-Break season for Chris Paul, he is mentioned on the list and the columnist (Luke Petkac) went on to say that the urgency is real for the Clippers this year and that we (like many of you have said) need to atleast reach the Western Conference Finals for this season not to be a bust...for Chris apparently. Here's the blurb about Chris and a link to the article if you want....

God, I remember this exact same prediction thread for last season, and everybody was so optimistic. It's so senseless to try and make predictions at this point. We just got to play the games and see how things work out.

Well this past season we were given a gift when Russell Westbrook went down for the rest of the playoffs with a serious injury and we were up 2-0 on Memphis. To lose 4-2 is an embarrassment. We would have easily trucked pass the Thunder and faced off with San Antonio in the Conference Finals, well we should have.

I think if Doc was our coach, we probably would have won at least 1 more game in that first round, and possibly won the series. Coach makes the substitutions not the players. Vinny didn't do so well of a job getting the right people out there in round 1 so that's on him a lot.

Clipper fans, OKC fans, San Antonio fans, GSW fans and Houston fans should all expect round 2 playoff berths, even Memphis fans as well. That's the top 6 teams, there really isn't a reason why any of those teams listed shouldn't advance to the second round of the playoffs, barring any serious injury to any top player on the team. I get that strange feeling again when I think about the playoffs that we will once again square off against Memphis.

There is one reason why those 6 teams shouldn't advance to the second round. Because it's not possible. Not for all 6 teams atleast. Either we'll see which two of the bunch is not as good as the rest during the season or two of the teams with the expectations to make the second round will have a disappointing playoff experience.

Yeah maybe. If we're the 2nd or 3rd an they're 6th or 7th? Don't love that matchup...
