Schweet!!! I 100% endorse this. Having had Mullens on my fantasy team last year, I know what he is capable of if given the chance.

Mullens isn't the best starter and does go into Kaman style chuck mode at times BUT for minimum he's a HUGE steal. The guy is capable of some real monster, stat stuffing games. I won't be surprised if he takes DJ's job TBH.

Hope this deal goes through...Mullens is a steal, big man with range and can rebound.

Lmao oh god. He is a CENTER who shoots 38.5 percent from the floor. Plays no defense what so ever and like to chuck up 3's like he's Reggie Miller.

Kevin Love shoots like 41 percent and it's for the same reason. Any jump shooting based big is going to have subpar bigman percentages. Also have to factor in who he played with and who for last year. With CP3/Blake/Doc his efficiency will climb.

0 Points 4 rebounds against The Warriors/ Festus Ezeli

5 Points 3 Rebounds against New Orleans/ Robin Lopez

2 Points 6 Rebounds against the Bulls/ Carlos Boozer

OMG!!!!

Oh sheesh, I really hope this guy is improving his game. Over his career, he's been bad on offense and on defense. He was a mainly assisted player who shot 31.7% from 3PT and scored 10.6 PPG on 10.6 FGA.

Over the last two seasons, 40.6% FG, 30.1% 3PT, .469 TS%, 94 Ortg. And playing C and PF on the 30th and 30th ranked defensive team.

At least he can defensive rebound. He's like the bad version of Frye who's also worse on defense.

I can't complain at the price which should be little, but hopefully he's really working on his game because if not he will be a big disappointment in terms of shooting.

If you guys liked Kaman's lifestyle, then you are going to love Mullens. They are both complete rednecks. We got our new Caveman.

Man dig deep people. Go look at the Bobcats roster... tell me who their coach last year was (rookie coach Dunlap). He's going to be MUCH more efficient with CP3/Doc I promise.

He'll be much more efficient if he becomes a better player and better shooter, not because of Doc and Paul.

He was the third option after Walker (.517 TS%) and Henderson (.531 TS%), he was mainly assisted and he was very inefficient. He could get better for sure, but to be at average efficiency, he will need to jump about 6-7% in his TS%, changing teams won't do that, becoming a better player will.

So I won't get super excited until I see his shooting during the season because history isn't on is side in terms of offensive ability.

Oh, and his defense is still not good, neither is he a shot blocker or anything like that either.

Would you guys be happy if our final 2 signings are Byron Mullens and Marcus Camby?

"The Toronto Raptors are expected to buyout the contract of Marcus Camby.

Camby has two seasons and $7.5 million remaining on his contract.

Camby was acquired by the Raptors from the New York Knicks in a trade involving Andrea Bargnani.

The Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls are expected to be interested in Camby if he clears waivers.

His defense is better than you think. Not fundamentally good.. but his size alone is intimidating. He's a legit 7'0 275 and is ATHLETIC as a mother. Basically a bigger DJ with a much better touch. The potential is there.. Doc will get it out of him.

He better then Jamison. Now I don't care if we sign somebody like Odom, Camby, KMart, Johnson or Maxiell because we got our good free throw shooting big that could play in the 4th quarter.

PF-Griffin, Mullens

SF-Dudley, Barnes, Bulluck

C-DJ, Camby, Hollins

PG-Paul, Collison, Wayns

SG-Redick, Crawford, Green

I am ok with this, especially since it's for the minimum.I rather have Mullens than Jamison and that is where the Clippers were headed.I know people here wanted Ivan Johnson but there were 0 rumors on him going to the Clippers and he never said he will take the min.Realistically it looked like it was between Jamison and Odom so I am more than fine with Mullens who is still young and could improve a lot under Doc.FO wanted a stretch 4 and got one.

Now I think we need Camby. He can help Mullens,DJ,Blake, and Hollins with their defense.Even if he is hurt he can help a lot with their development. And if he is healthy he is still and good defender, rebounder, and shot blocker. With the size of our bigs there's no reason why Doc can't teach them to be solid defenders. And hopefully Mullens will get in the gym with DJ and Blake so he can bulk up.What's done is done, now we need a physical big to do the dirty work.

In this whole search for a couple of Bigs, it seems like people forget that we already have 2 starting Bigs... we're looking for backups guys, backups.

Can some of you guys even name Memphis Grizzlies' backup bigs without google?

Hope this means we are staying away from jamison. This with a Lamar or a (you guessed it) Ivan Johnson or help even a Blair could be pretty good.

With that said if he takes DJ's job we are in trouble, LOL. He wasn't a bad option based on our money situation let's not act like he was the best option. I this guy and an Ivan would fit really well together since Ivan likes to play under the rim.

This is best case scenario. I am amazed that kid can be signed for the minimum. If we get a team option 2nd year, this could be as big as any non-Cp3 signing.

Mullens can play. watched some of their games this season mainly for comedic value but he has serious potential.

His career numbers are all over the board because he never got any run his first two years with OKC then spent two years on a side show team. 4 years of terrible situations. But now he has Doc and Gentry and CP. I predict this dude will break out on our team.

He's improved every year, excellent athlete, has range. Exciting signing if they get it done. He's only 24, barely DJ's age.

That's what people said about Darko, not to compare him to Darko, but I don't expect coaches to work Magic, what I hope is that Mullens is working really hard. His impact will be about him before it is about the new team. Blocks don't show defense, but they can at least imply some hustle and willingness to rotate on defense and contest shots. He's an athletic 7'0 player that blocked 0.8 shots/36 minutes and was a starting big on the last ranked defense two seasons in a row. Not to mention that on/off indicated that Charlotte as bad as they were on defense, over the last two seasons were respectively 2 and 6 points per 100 possessions better defensively without him than with him.

I guess my point is this is a wait and see signing. It could be decent, and it could be terrible, that's literally the range, terrible to decent. There's a super small chance it could be good, if he's working super hard on his game, and maybe even gets in to tweak his shooting wth Thate, as well as increasing his defensive understanding, awareness, and intensity. I do try to not have slightly unrealistic every single thing goes fit expectations for players though, so that's not my expectation.

With Mullens now in we are pretty much locked in needing Odom AND Camby. I think Davies probably gets cut. Get a defensive PF andwe are good

Not sure how I feel about this. Some of you are commenting on his shooting ability, but he couldn't be worse than Odom's shooting last season.

Percentage wise not much better BUT he shot like 5 times more so it's deceiving.

Why would it be surprising? He can look good in his best games, but looks very bad in the rest, he's a bad defensive and offensive player, a bit of a risk for good teams who have to ask how much of it is the team and how much is him because it's not just the team. He's not interesting enough for developing teams who look at Charlotte and say "he had all the opportunity there and didn't do much". He wasn't in the most favorable situation as a free agent.

Battlegun, Odom had a .429 TS%, Mullens' was .465, better, but that's from atrocious to horrible, and a player shooting more at horrible efficiency hurts you more than a player that doesn't shoot because he's taking shots from better players. But Odom is overall more impactful because of much better defense. Mullens needs to be fine tuning that shot of his all off-season.

The only thing I'm worried about is mullens taking over dj's spot.. Players need to be in the same page to win a championship hopefully doc will come in to tune this line up to a championship team. No ego no worrying about stats just players want to win and get a championship

Beauty of it is it gives Collison and Crawford more room to attacksince they don't have pick and roll bigs like Paul has with griffin and Jordan. I don't know if we will do full bench like we did with Vinny but if we do the bench is better spread.

We have to get Odom and or Camby now hopefully both and we can stash Wayans or Davies away

Ed Davis/Kosta Koufos is almost better than Blake/DJ (almost not definitively).

BTW, since when does 30% 3pt shooting qualify as "stretching the floor"? Might as well just have Blake launch 3-pointers if that's the case.

Guys, I know it's "just" bench players...but our backup bigs are Ryan Hollins and Byron Mullens. That's awful. Our starters are already shaky defenders, getting even worse ones on the bench is not good. Memphis killed us inside(they do have Ed Davis and added Kosta Koufus this summer). And even their starters put ours in foul trouble plenty of times.

Also, we love talking about how deep we are--and we are, on the perimeter. But our backup bigs are awful. OKC has Nick Collison and Thabeet. Spurs may not have great backup bigs(though Diaw is OK), but keep in mind they start two solid centers in Duncan and Splitter. The Rockets have Asik coming off their bench now. I know the league is going small, but you're in big trouble when none of your bigs are considered above average defenders.

This is one of those times that I side with observation over analytics. The kid is one of the better big athletes in the NBA. He can hit from range. He just hasn't had any discipline. First two years nobody cared and he never got a chance. 2nd two years his coach was Mike Dunlap.

I don't consider playing in Charlotte an opportunity. Doc and Gentry and CP and the rest of these guys are going to be the first positive influence he's had in his career.

We're signing him for the minimum to be the 11th man on the bench. To get a young kid who put up 10 and 6 last season, it's a quality signing.

Our options are to sign disgruntled has beens or a kid who hasn't broke out yet. I take the kid for this role. We have plenty of older guys and will most likely sign a couple more before we're done.

^ yeah, but again we have to take into consideration that we have doc rivers coaching defense. if mullens becomes a decent defender, with his size, he should be able to be a valuable contributor. yes he comes from the bobcats, but the glimpses of talent are there. i saw him own howard when they played the flakers. he score 24 and 21 in both games. had 15 and 13 boards (both games) and had 4 and 3 blocks in both games. I'm not saying he will do that on a nightly basis, but if we get 8-9 ppg and 5 to 6 rpg and close to 1.5 blocks per game off the bench, the clips will be better served than the mediocre numbers we got from turiaf and hollins ( mainly turiaf). plus he is 7 feet and 250. he has the build to give people like zbo and gasol problems. just needs a good teacher.

Right, but I don't think any of the backup guys we might sign are the answer to the threats you've mentioned. The answer can probably only come from our 2 starters. If you feel like we're doomed with our starting Bigs, then we're doomed with our starting Bigs. You can't sign a Splitter or an Asik to a minimum.

Great signing Clippers. A way better option at the 4 spot than Odom and Jamison in my opinion. Mullens can shoot and board.
