Reggie Bullock-Ranking #6 The Clippers rookie climbs a rung after putting up 22 points in his Summer League finale. The No. 25 overall pick did get his shots up, though, finishing 8-for-20 from the field (3-for-11 on 3s), finishing his run here at 42 percent. Bullock's shooting ability is clear, though, and the Clippers can be patient with their rookie, who could be a nice addition for L.A.'s second unit. -- July 19 http://www.nba.com/rookie-ladder/ Las Vegas Summer League is a great opportunity for rookies and journeymen to showcase their talent. When I was searching through the NBA website the rookie ladder rankings....

I just watched this rating of the rookies in the West vid. Bullock is a great prospect and much better than a 25th pick.

the thing that impressed me the most during summer league was Bullocks commitment to defense. He covered his man very well and hustled for rebounds. Most of us here had no clue on this guy, and when I was at the draft party all of us were shocked that we picked him. I was expecting Crabbe or someone else, but man has this turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I wonder who was the driving force behind this pick: Sacks, Roeser, Doc or someone else.

Early in the season, I thought that Bullock fit the bill of what we needed. Around draft time, I did get intrigued by the potential upside of other prospects, but still felt that Reggie would be a good fit. It really seems like it was meant to be when you consider that Doc has a good read on him from the Duke/NC games and that he was present during a workout in Boston; and the fact that Reggie played on CP3's AAU team. He's a San Antonio type of pick and I'm glad that we drafted him.

What I like about Reggie is that he knows his role. He's a team player that will do the little things that are necessary. He's not going to try to do too much and end up making mistakes as a result.

I don't know where the playing time is going to come from under normal conditions (i.e. no injuries/trades), but Doc has got to find a way to eventually get him into the rotation.

I've said it once and I will say it again. We NEED to get him into a long term contract and develop him into our new starting 2 or 3. With his nice 3pt shooting, amazing defense, and great athleticism, there's no reason why we can't develop him into that especially since he's going to be learning things through Reddick, Crawford, Barnes, and Dudley. Not to even mention Doc Rivers and Alvin Gentry.

not needed yet. I think what bullock gives us is insurance once crawford is at the end of his contract. We can possibly trade crawford for a quality center, and because that time bullock can handle being the shooting guard for the second unit.

I had this concern as well. With how loaded we are bullock may not get much time, but then again I remember last year when both CP3 and Bledsoe got injured and we had to call up players from D league.

hahaha half the people here were crying about not getting Tim Hardaway Jr and now everyone is happy with reggie. Maybe this is why we should start learning to trust our FO. Its not the same FO from years past and recently they have been doing very very good

Haha I'll admit I was upset before Summer League, but am thoroughly impressed by the kid. He could really grow into an upper tier role player and you can really see some NBA readiness in his poise and game. Can't blame those of us that watched Tim Hardaway Jr. get picked by the Knicks right before us (and my personal dislike for the Knicks doesn't help) getting upset. At the time most analysts had Tim Hardaway Jr. going in the late teens so it looked like we would get a steal (which we may still have).

Plus players like Tony Mitchell, Allen Crabbe, and even Jamal Franklin were thought of as better prospects and Bullock just looked like a solid role player coming out of a better school at the time. We still have to wait and see, but it looks like it's gonna be fun to watch. Great work FO, great work.

Go back and read the draft threads. Many people wanted crabbe, bullock or jamaal Franklin. Don't think too many really wanted hardaway jr. But he might still be solid.

After reading up on reggie and watching the draft express video I so badly wanted clipps to draft him. Love his defense and quick release. So hard to find players with both of those

true true, there was a lot of crabbe and franklin talk, but soooo glad we didn't do that. Crabbe sucked in summer league and i don't even think Franklin played. Did Hardaway do anything? I never heard his name

I was thrilled win the Knicks drafted Hardaway. There were a handful of guys that I would have rather us take over him if the Knicks didn't select him. I just feel that if his name was Tim Smith that the interest wouldn't be as high for some people.

Franklin missed summer league injury. Hardaway played 2 games before missing the rest with a sprained wrist. He was OK in his first game. He had quick start in the 2nd game, but left the game after the 1st quarter.

I didn't watch the Blazers, but Crabbe's numbers were pretty terrible.

He might better long term than unathletic redick.

its the draft though. There is a high level of unpredictability with that. Experts even get this wrong. I can't recall any draft board that even had bullock on it. Still, I'm glad we gambled and got the right guy. I just wonder which one of our FO guys was behind this

Yeah because athleticism translates to a long career. As opposed to a great shooter with a high basketball IQ.

I wonder why I never hear people call someone like Ray Allen not "athletic"...hmmm. It's a mystery. roll

Anyway, I liked the idea of Bullock ever since someone brought him up on this site. Not at the expense of starting over Redick, but I can definitely see him starting at SF in a couple of years.

what I love is that by the time reddick or crawfords contracts are up bullock will have all the experience he needs. At that point we can make a decision on what to do with either of these guys. Great position to be in

True. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have a feeling we'll see a bit of the Duke-days Redick. It'll take a little time for him to adjust but...playing alongside his old ACC nemesis...playing with a PF who commands double teams...playing for a championship coach and a contending team...wearing his old Duke number for the first time in the NBA. I can't wait to see how he compliments this team.

Having Bullock is icing right now. At 6'7 and and good defender/rebounder he seems like a SF to me. Especially considering he doesn't exactly have a guard's ball handling skills as yet. Sure he needs to bulk up to play SF...but honestly I don't think he needs to bulk up that much just looking at him.

PRetty crappy and awesome to have the 25th pick already ranked 6th on the rookie ladder. Let's not get too excited here though folks, this could go down as the worst draft in NBA history. And I am not trying to sell Bullock short, but this isn't an amazing draft class, most of these guys should hope to end up as long time role players off the bench for most teams in their NBA careers.

Best player in the draft was Nerlens Noel and he's like 6'11" and 210lbs, also coming off a serious injury and slipped from 1st to like 6th in the draft.

However, seeing Bullock perform in the summer league so well, and his natural ability to shoot, paired with solid defense I really, REALLY think he could honestly be one of those guards the Spurs always get late in the 1st or 2nd round that can immediately contribute in positive ways and potentially get big playing time in a couple of seasons.

Here's hoping.

Not to be a downer but do not forget, several of the top picks were not playing in summer leagues do to injury, and thus were not ranked in top 10 (Len, Noel, Bennett).

Also, Reggie will struggle to get PT behind Redick, Dudley, Crawford, and Barnes, which could stunt his growth. Which is unfortunate.

you're getting "behavorial targeting" advertisements. If you're getting gay dating site ads, that means you've visited a gay dating site in the last 30 days or however long the cookies installed on your browser from the website last.

in other words, LOLZ.

Hey what's up buddy? Long time no see.

I will agree OJ did not live up to standards, but I can't hate on the guy haha. Sorry too much bias. He's in my top 4 favorite Trojans w/ Gibson, Swaggy P, and the GOAT Scal.

Bullock looks solid though. I guess we'll have to wait and see where his career trajectory takes him.
