Blake responds to the CP3 article about him needing to become THE man and make a jump this year. Can somebody post this?

http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/nba/rum ... api_public

Here's the free article about it.

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/stor ... chris-paul

BTW guys the forum has been incredibly slow this month so this is fine being separate from the CP3 thread. No worries about board clutter right now hah.

I'm doing a lot of stuff at the elbow, a lot of shooting. One of the things [new coach Doc Rivers] said to me was, 'I don't want you to be afraid to go 0-for-15.' In other words, just have the mindset of a shooter. And with the work I've done this summer, I'm starting to get that confidence and think like a shooter."

Loved reading that by Griffin. He's ready to become a more of a shooter and be utilized by the coaches for different options. Good news that its confirmed that he's for sure testing his range and trying to round out all of his offensive game. And he's acknowledging all the hype, he'll be ready to close games with CP.

I always said VDN didn't give Blake a foundation. He seemedto just let Blake float around. No structue.

Jump shooting is only a problem if you can't make them. You'll be surprised how much jump shooting the great bigs that weren't monsters of men did. Blake isn't going to play like Shaq, he needs a jumper. Also like I mentioned in the other thread, if you're coach is planning on using your a certain way, what makes more sense? 1) Working on skills that would make you most effective in the spots that your coach wants to use you in. Or 2) Working on other things that won't maximize your potential in the team setting. Yea, Blake is certainly doing the correct thing,....

Griffin improving his range will do wonders for the offense. When DJ and Blake both can't shoot, it really closes off lanes for us. If Blake can spread the floor a bit, and DJ can solidify those post moves he's been working on, together with Dudley and Redick in the starting 5, Paul will have an incredible amount of space to operate.

The biggest problem with Blake's jumper, besides the hesitation, is the range. There's no reason Blake has to take shots near the 3 point line. Guys like Hakeem and Ewing (who was a great 7 foot jump shooter) shot at closer range. I think the elbow allows him to get comfortable from mid range, allows him a clear view of his teammates when he needs to pass, and allows him to use his first step to blow past his defender. Heck, he only needs one or two steps from there to make it to the basket.

Yup, he needs to shoot from 10-17, no need to be shooting further, and if he is, might as well shoot a 3PT shot

Makes me sad that Griffin didn't get "The Dream" traning.

There's still time for Hakeem in the future. The elbow stuff is a whole thing that Blake now has to concentrate on, which seems jumper related. Not sure how much Hakeem would help there.

Thing is, I personally feel it's best for Blake to work with Hakeem at least within the next 2 years at the latest. Otherwise the training won't be as effective. Because, if he can benefit from the training he could really put that to use more NOW than when he's got more wear on the knees, and also perfect what he learns a bit more each....

I think the Rockets hired Hakeem, so will he even still train players outside of the Rockets organization?

They're a lot of places to go for post moves help. Adrian Dantley is a crossing guard, I'm sure he'll be willing to help. Shaq can teach some things too.

Shaq merely used his muscle to score down low. He did not have fundamentals...

Shaq had great footwork and his fundamentals were underappreciated. And he had counter moves like that bank shot when he spins to the left shoulder

He needs to clock Zbo (Zbo I still love you)

Why is everybody mad at Zack? He punks BG because BG allows it. It's Blake's fault not Zbo's. Would he punk Karl Malone, the one BG is most compared to?

I DON'T THINK SO.

BG's new personal coach Mike Tyson (as long as Blake wears a mouth piece)

The problem is that you can only work on one thing at a time. His FT shooting has improved

Here's what he should be able to do in time

1 With his athleticism block shots - we've seen that

2.He's developing his ball handling skills. He should be able to have a better first step than most PF's or centers.

3 Post moves

4 SET A PICK

Someone recently posted this game on youtube. There's a lot of him at the elbow here, so it could be an indication of what to look for:

Even if Hakeem is employed by the Rockets, I still think he can train people when he's got time off in the summer. He charges an outrageous price and people keep coming back. He may love the Rockets but that's a lot of friggin' money he'd be losing if they wouldn't allow him to train other athletes. I think he does a lot of charity work for his native country too, and any extra money to help out Hakeem would probably love. As far as Shaq goes, easily I put him up there in the best center of all time talk.....

@EricPatten: 2 players have tallied at least 4,500 points, 2,000 rebounds, 800 assists & shot 50% or better over 1st 3 seasons. Kareem & @blakegriffin32

Suck it haters!

Thing is, even if Blake stays the way he is currently for say the next 6 years til he is 30, and by stay the same I mean posting up his 3 year average he will end up with totals like this: 13,959 points, 2,463 assists, 7,104 rebounds, 642 steals, 429 blocks, 2,913 FTM and like 50000000 dunks. Those are pretty impressive numbers for a power forward over a 9 year span. We can adjust those numbers to say, 15,000 points, 2700 assists, about 8,000 boards, 700+ steals and 460+ blocks in his first 10 years. With averages of over 20 points,....

Despite being a young player, I think this upcoming season is Blake's make or break season.
