@DanWoikeSports: Clippers' play-by-play man Ralph Lawler (@Ohmeomy) tweets that plan is for 2013-14 season to be his last. He's been with team since 1978. Ralph's Actuall Tweet: @Ohmeomy: Well, we have not announced this as final year, but that's the plan for now. But the plan a year ago was also for that to be final year. ...

I know honestly I would hate to see him go! He makes Clippers games so exciting! I love listening to him as much as I do watching the games! But If He does go I wouldn't mind listening to Grant Hill @basketballtalk: Grant Hill in negotiations to do broadcasting next season

Still Ralph May Not Go After This Season But That Is His Plans For Now! It Would Be Sad To See Him Go!

*****UPDATE***** @Ohmeomy: @DanWoikeSports Not in stone or close. At my age Go through this each yr. Never dreamed I'd still be working at this age, but Love it still!

This would SUCK. I mean it's inevitable at some point, just didn't think it would be so soon. Grant Hill would be good in a Mike Smith role, but I don't see him being colorful enough to replace Ralph. What a bummer.

Hopefully Ralph is still enjoying the broadcasting and will stay with the Clippers for many more years. Maybe eventually if he is getting too tired of traveling for road games, the Clippers would allow him just do the Staples Center games, kind of like what the Dodgers do for Vin Scully.

Just wrote Ralph this poem.

This news of your departure has me close to tears. All of the optimism rubbed off on me over the years. I sit and think about all the settle down Mike Smith moments. Take those away and it has to be some sort of bad omen. I won't forget all of those Bingo shouts. Without those I'm seriously going to freak out. Clippers fans let's take a second to remember the past. Damn Ralph this all just went by too fast. I wish it could have lasted a little longer. But I understand you want more time to be a grandfather. Goodbye Clipper Nation King Nothing better than to send you out with a ring.

Team gets a chip, ralph retires, clippers retire the first jersey ever and put another microphone in the rafters of staples. Storybook ending.

We are going through this with Vin Scully and the Dodgers also. But for Vinny last year was going to be his last, then he saw the potential of actually getting to the world series and now this years is his last (if we don't get there, watch, one more year!). Heck, last year was the firs Vinny bobblehead because it was to be his last year, now this year we got a second one as this is his last year (cough cough). Although Vinny is pretty old now, still,in is the blood.

I suspect Ralph could be the same. Yeah, this is his last year, until we get to the WC finals or the Championships and miss the ring but look like the next season will be the one. There is no way he rides off into the sunset when he could have the chance to get a ring with this team.

It's weird when the only announcer you have ever known for your entire time with a team may call it quits, but it does happen. There is never anyone that can really ever take their place(es).

Of course, I would miss hearing Ralph when he steps down, but I wouldn't mind seeing Brian Sieman move into the TV play-by-play role (maybe perhaps do a simulcast), or if not (and if Seattle doesn't get a NBA team), I would like to have Kevin Calabro call Clippers games.

Yes, Ralph is definitely a legend and will be missed. But this can be the perfect extra motivation for the clippers to have their best season ever, in tribute to him!.

I also think Brian Sieman would be awesome. Lately I actually prefer listening to him on the radio, I really hope he takes over!

Don't even want to think about this until it happens, but when it does, Brian Sieman is certainly on deck.

Some great ideas on here... 1st retired Clippers jersey, statue outside Staples, star on the walk of fame, but most of all... win one for Ralph!

Perhaps Ralph's most underrated achievement is that he's the one man who can unite CTB. Treasure every call this season, guys!

Just because of this, anything less than a championship is considered a failure. Hanging his Mic over the refters would fit in perfectly with our ring ceremony.

I'd be heart broken if Ralph left after this season. The games wouldn't be the same without him saying "Fasten your seat belts, gang. We're going down to the wire." Ralph has been the one consistently positive thing about this franchise over the years. It'd be a sad day when he calls it quits.

Sad news, he has been the backbone of our franchise and encouragement through all the bad years. It has become notic eagle though that he makes quite a few mistakes during the game especially with players names, old age finally kicking in.

I am a new Clippers fan and love Ralph Lawler already. When I first started watching the Clippers games last season, I had to get used to the quirky Lawlerisms such as Oh Me Oh My, Bingo, Lawler's Law, Settle Down, Mike Smith, and Buckle Your Seatbelts. Lol I'm sure I'm missing some other golden nuggets. These are an integral part of Clippers lore now and it wouldn't be the same if he retired. I hope he continues for as long as possible. When he no longer can stand the constant travel, perhaps he can do as Vince Scully for the Dodgers and announce the home games only.

For those of you like me, who don't listen to radio broadcasts of Clips games (I'd rather DVR the game and watch it later), here's a sample of Brian Sieman working arguably the greatest Clippers performance ever... with a little Aerosmith thrown in for atmosphere:

http://www.nba.com/clippers/media/2012- ... EAM_ON.mp3

The telecasts will be in great hands when Ralph decides to hang it up. Sieman is a true fan and a class act.

Thanks to SeanRooks for originally posting this last year.
