He wouldn't leave for hours. That has been a customary scene for the duration of the summer, Griffin arriving early, working out, pushing himself through drills and closing out each session with nearly two hours of pickup basketball. He takes hundreds of free throws, an area he improved nearly 14 percent from two years ago. He initiates offense from the elbow, a place he says new Head Coach Doc Rivers envisions the three-time All-Star playing more this season. He shoots from the perimeter, puts himself through agility drills, and teams with fellow big men DeAndre Jordan, Ryan Hollins, Byron Mullens, Brandon Davies....

These are things fans of their favorite teams love to see in regards to their top players. He knows what he needs to improve and he's busting his butt to do so. He's also constantly working hours and hours to keep his game and body in good standing. I just really hope he can take some good steps with his offensive post game and get back to rebounding like a beast.

I think we would all be surprised if he wasn't. Blake has proven time and time again that he's a hard worker, which is why it's almost embarrassing when we have fans saying things like "why is he going to China, he should be working on his game", "why is he on vacation, he should be practicing", "how can he shoot a commercial", that no sense. People who have proven their character shouldn't be questioned that way, it's an insult.

There are a lot of hard workers in the NBA, let's not get it twisted, I don't like when some of these things make it seem like it's just one player that does this kind of stuff. There are a lot of hard workers, and then there are guys who work just a little bit harder. Blake is one of those just a little bit harder guys.

This isn't saying there aren't lazy players and guys who do the bare minimum. I love how Blake and Paul set the tone as players who are stars but put in work. They aren't stars who are just content with where they are.

I hope he is working on his post game too. Its great that he is working on his jumper but his post game is equally important.

I like the progress he has made. If I could see one thing improve from him though it would be defense

I'm amazed at his progress. Only three years in the league, but he is one of the best centers. Deandre at this point hasn't even accomplished what Hibbert was able to in his rookie year Sad

I love how Blake's embraced the elbow stuff. And working on it right now!

I wouldn't go that far.

Hibbert was always far more talented on offense than DJ, but he was also a 22 year old rookie. Still, DJ has been better for like 3 seasons than rookie Hibbert. Rookie Hibbert only played 14 MPG, he was not the defender he is now, still struggles with pick and roll defense because of his slow feet, but was even worse then. He averaged 7.7 fouls/36, he was a poor defensive rebounder, he had major issues finishing at the rim, he was not an efficient scorer (though he has never been specifically efficient as a scorer in his regular seasons). He had nice raw per minute numbers, but a more intricate look made them not so nice.

Hibbert's playoffs / Miami series masks the fact that he was actually underachieving offensively for the majority of the first half of the season. He was actually bad on offense, but of course his defensive presence was there.

His main issue nowadays is probably his intensity level. He does not seemingly go hard like he did against Miami on a consistent basis, then again, maybe the midget nature of Miami's front court is what motivated him.

I'm shocked you think so highly of DJ. I dont think you could find two people here on CTB that disagree on players more than you or I
