Huge honor! Wow OUR TEAM's superstar is freaking representing the players union. This isn't exactly Clippers related but it's another honor in our team's history now and assuming he retains this a decade or more... it's a lot for us to be proud of.

I am so glad for CP3! I wish it wasn't him though!!! He needsto focus on basketball and the Clippers! If he wasn't in his prime I would be fine with it but Chris is chasing rings just like Lebron!

Well it's mostly handled in the summers and guys Chris' age aren't working like say Blake Griffin. He's as good as he's going to get pretty much and I don't think this will affect him much.

Congratulations to Chris! I didn't even realize he was running for the position- it just shows the level of respect his peers give him. I do hope that it does not distract from his play. I do think he does need to improve his 3 point shooting, esp. since he had a low % (for him) last season.

deserved too. Chris Paul represents everything that's right with basketball. Most of all, the Clippers get all of this exposure for good things. The Clippers have transformed from the Absolute worst in sports history to a world class organization.

He's really the perfect guy to head the Player's association. His personality off the court is probably what got him the job, and he should be good leader. They need one after the mess the NBAPA has gone through this year.

except the whole "pushing to get coaches fired thing and then threatening to leave because you don't want to be blamed for it" thing. but other than that, swell guy.

^ You got it all wrong ekker, let me explain.

First of all when Byron Scott was fired in New Orleans, CP had nothing to do with it, it was managements choice and that was a big reason why CP wasn't happy. The Front Office went and fired their head coach without letting their star player know and the reason for firing Byron Scott was that he was playing too much golf, it had nothing to do with CP.

Now the VDN situation, we all know VDN is a good guy, but a mediocre coach, we needed an upgrade and we got it. Funny that people even say VDN was fired when in reality all we did is NOT extend his contract.

That being said, CP3 is indeed a swell guy, we are lucky to have the best point guard in the whole world on our side, give him some love!

Congrats to CP3! What an honor.

Anyone else notice that our own Willie Green is part of the NBPA Executive Committee? The Clippers organization is represented by two outstanding members.

Vinny deserved to get fired. A first round exit to a team you beat 3-1 in the regular season is unnacaptable. It's sad that this organization didn't have a clue to get rid of the guy, and I applaud Chris for forcing this organizations hand in getting the best coach out there. Do I like the way Chris handled the situation, no, but this is a business and Chris was the catalyst in making a positive change. In a year this will all be forgotten. I have no doubt that Rivers will take us farther than the second round, and when we get deep into the playoffs you will thank Chris for "pushing to get coaches fired."

Too bad there isn't any actual proof besides rumors.

As for VDN. No need to push him to get fired. He would have been fired anyway due to his gross incompetence. If he didn't then that would just show this organization hasn't changed from the "good old days".

Even if CP3 did actually threaten the Clippers I could care less. Getting rid of VDN and getting Doc Rivers in return? I'll live. I am not encouraging that behavior but I am certainly not discouraging it either. CP3 wants to win. You won't win with VDN as a coach. You can win with Doc Rivers.

The same guy that hates Blake Griffin and wanted him traded to the Lakers?

CP3 wants to win with every fiber of his being. It is just not lip service and he was not going to win with VDN (you would have to agree). Without CP insisting on DOC, the FO would have re-signed VDN and we would have been bounced-out of playoffs again and again.

Even if that's true, can the NBAPA even eliminate the flopping fines? I don't think they have the power until the next CBA.

I'm sure that is the butt of peoples jokes. Even Paul must know it gets out of control at times.

As president he is only pushing the agenda of what nbpa members want. Flopping fines mean nothing to Chris Paul. Last season he only got a warning and no fines and even if he got fined several times in a season it would mean nothing since that is pocket change for him.

Its not the same for role players.

Stupid people will probably say Chris Paul does HGH or something based off the "fact" that he "doesn't want HGH testing".

hopefully they don't eliminate flopping fines. Some of the things Paul wants to put on the table are just a bad idea.

I'm mixed about him being elected, I thought the same thing as Jarca regarding calls. Then again like most of us, don't want him concentrating too much on other stuff going on within the union and more on the team. I'm not worried about him necessarily not having time to improve as a player on the knowledge side of it, but would prefer that he is able to stay in top shape. I would also like him to continue to build rapport with the players in the offseason.

As far as flopping, I think they should resolve the flopping issues by suspending a player out a game if found violating it. The panel should consist of players ruling on it, and then it would start to get eliminated. It would have to be clear cut flopping with no actual contact, getting hit and overreacting would have to be allowed to a certain extent.
