That's a hard starting schedule. Very plausible to got 6-5 or 5-6 over those 11 games depending on who the playoff opponents are, and to start the season something like 9-7. Of course that will always bring an overreaction as people tend to overlook strength of schedule and you might read some misguided "I told you Clippers wouldn't be good" stuff.

Anyways, it should be a good test to start the season, and a good gauge of where the team truly is and needs to be if they are playing against previous playoff caliber teams.

I'd rather get some of the tougher games out of the way early on. 1 it'll really challenge our team and 2, it should give us a few stretches where we play some of the weaker teams to help boost the record potentially after we play our way through the gauntlet.

Probably should get the "fire Doc Rivers" thread going now,you know it will happen !

We can go 9-9 or whatever as long as one of the wins is the Fakers.

I'm sure the same guy that created the fire Vinny thread will also do one for Doc as well. That fire Vinny thread needs to be removed entirely.

I'd assume most Clipper fans wouldn't, but you know a guy like Charles Barlkey would be quick to say something about Blake posting up and all that nonsense. Tell us how he thinks the team isn't championship material based on 16 games, then in January when the record is .700 or so, people will have known they were a good team all along.

don't know 'bout a "loaded" backcourt.... depth yes, competitive against the best at the position.... definitely not on the defensive end.

and hope we keep it simple upfront, w/Blake and DJ getting the bulk of the minutes, and considering how Mullens fares give him the rest unless his play dictates some Antawn time....

and am grateful for what Barnes brings to the table, and at the same time haven't forgotten that no one but us paid him last season, and that he could even be a tad overpaid at this juncture, and if the expectations for him keep growing, he could end up being overrated as well.... would prefer to let him be who he is, and he ain't a pf....

and not as high on Bullock as a lot of people here are, and if he surprises, he could be catalyst for some roster moves, as we are still gonna need a playoff big pf/c to bang and play D come mid season trading deadline.

also think we've gotten away from Lob City some, which troubles me a bit, as not only do I like it personally, especially in light of Showtime, I also think its intangibles have a tangible benefit to our team.... just like DJ, whose intangibles and defense, for some unknown reason, don't get the props it/he deserves.... if he gets minutes, we are gonna get more wins....

I'm not saying that we won't see some people calling for Doc's head if we end up starting bad, but for the most part I think the fan base will be more tolerant with Doc than Vinny. Rivers joins the Clippers after nine seasons with the Boston Celtics, compiling a 416-305 (.576) record and guiding the Celtics to the 2007-08 NBA Championship with a NBA-best 66-16 regular season record. Rivers led the Celtics to six Atlantic Division titles, the 2009-10 Eastern Conference Championship and a 59-47 (.556) Playoff record during his tenure. Rivers is just one of only four active NBA coaches to win an NBA title, and since 2007-08 owns the third-highest winning percentage (.661) among current coaches.

With that pedigree the fan base is going to give him more breathing room when his team isn't performing

I agree with C4, I know we have higher expectations for Doc, but think that most of us understand that the players and him have to have a feeling out portion to their relationship. Their might be some growing pain involved, especially early in the season. Then add on the tough schedule to begin with, it will be really interesting to see how we do. Doc has to learn as much about the players and vice versa, getting a feel for a bunch of individuals will take time. Luckily I think that we got a good squad to do that with, and he has already seemed to have made a great impression with all the vital players (with the possible exception of Jamal).

I don't think we will go undefeated throughout the whole season, wouldn't that be cool (I know it's not happening, but I could dream), but am still expecting a good seeding in the playoffs. Let's remember the West got even tougher (like we needed that), and a lot of injured players on opposing teams will make easy wins a lot tougher this year.

Honestly I'm not too concerned with the beginning of the schedule, if we do too well early on it could turn out like last year. I would rather go through the growing pains early on and be rock solid for the playoffs.

Nice points. Our front court is a question mark rebounding wise.

I think our starters have a lot of potential rebounding wise, which Blake has actually lived up too in the past, and DJ has had flashes for short periods. The bench I have to agree with you, since we seem to be lacking an energy rebounding big. Hollins brings energy, but lacks in the rebounding department which I have trouble understanding. Antawn isn't a bad rebounder (not good either), but likes to roam the perimetera lot in my opinion. Byron per 36 isn't terrible but not good in my opinion for his size and position (possibly another roaming the perimeter case).

I think our defensive rebounding will be addressed by Doc. He always seems to lock up his players for this, and I think this will be a main point in any system he implements here. I think he might be more able to gamble with the athletic bigs that we have that can run up and down the floor better than anything he has had in the past few years.
