Gilbert Arenas has been an NBA outcast since his locker room gun incident back in late 2009. Following being waived by a couple of teams, last we checked Arenas has been playing in China for the Shanghai Sharks. So should we be reading into his instagram post yesterday on a practice video saying he's preparing to work out today in 'Clipper Arena'? I make it look easy some times..tomorrow your fav nba player might be a victim .. Clipper arena here comes arenas-Arenas

Just because he's working out at our practice facility doesn't mean he's "trying out." Plus, even if he wanted to try out, I seriously doubt the team would add him, given how deep we are at guard. CP, Reddick, Collison, Crawford, Green >>>>>>> than a guy who hasn't played meaningful minutes in the NBA in like 4 years.

Of course, I'm sure he's just trying to garnish popularity by challenging various players which isn't a bad thing

Sure, not like he would actually play anyways. Probably a fun guy to compete against in practice

How awesome would that be!!! Pretty funny but Wiz still paying him. He is the 4th highest paid NBA player this year at approx. 24mil.

Gilbert is not old. He'll never be Agent Zero again but having this guy as your 3rd string PG is pretty awesome. Let's do it. And let's sign another vet big. Get the banger...I still like Drew Gooden but starting to warm up to Cole Aldrich. Huge and tough and young.

Again people do practice at our team's facility. I will say this, if for some unlikely reason he is trying out for the team, I have to ask why? We have plenty of PG's and SG's on this team already, if we need anything else I'd bring in another big man or even a true SF.

Dude we only have two PG's. It's either a D-leaguer in Wayns or another vet. Win Now = VET.

We have 3, CP3, Collison and Crawford. WAyns and Redick could be counted as well because it's not that hard to bring the ball up the court for the like, 1-3 minutes in total they MIGHT play PG in the like 3 "what if" scenarios that could happen this year.

Crawford is an awful, awful PG. I think every coach and team has moved past the idea of thinking that he can substitute as a PG, even for spot minutes, he just does not care much about running an offense. That is unless you just mean "people capable of handling the ball", that's a different situation.

Reddick played a lot of PG for Orlando last year and put up like 5 assists per game in that time with very few turnovers. I'd prefer him play there over Crawford.

Yea, me too, Redick actually runs the offense and passes. It's not the best role for Redick, but it's serviceable in spot minutes. Crawford is good at what he does, scoring, and taking him away from the does not yield good results for anyone.

Agreed. At best maybe 5 minutes a game at PG for Redick if we need to go a bit bigger than Collison/CP3.

PG- Chris Paul / Darren Collison / Gilbert Arenas -- VET SG- JJ Redick / Jamal Crawford / Willie Green -- VET SF- Jared Dudley / Matt Barnes / Reggie Bullock PF- Blake Griffin / Byron Mullens / Antawn Jamison -- VET C- Deandre Jordan / Ryan Hollins / POSSIBLE VET OR A BANGER!!

I like having 3rd string Vets that can still contribute if needed! Miami Heat sign Juwan Howard just for that Locker Room Presence I like it! Waive Wayns and Bring In Gilbert Arenas!! I mean it could be that Gem like Matt Barnes!!! You never can tell!!! I still think the FRONTCOURT is the most important!!! We have so many holes there!!! If Blake or DJ go down then you depend on Ryan Hollins or Byron Mullens to start!!! Come On that isnt getting you anywhere!!! We still need a Starter-Capable Contributing on the Boards and Offense and a BANGER!!!

We have more than enough talent and versatility to cover the guard spots. Like most here, I still see holes up front. Even if Blake and DJ make huge strides under Doc, an injury to either one would be a massive blow to the team.

NO.. Gilbert has MAJOR anger issues.. we have enough players now, not to add a CRAZY man to the mix.... lets see how the team we have NOW, plays together.. age is a factor as well as injuiry history.. but maybe Doc is "looking" at him to add the "vet" balance of talent he currently has..

Maybe Gilbert wants to get back into the game.. and prove himself to be a great player as we was before.. if that is the case, THE LAKERS could use some help.....

Clipper girl it's important to remember who he was having that locker room incident. Crittenton is a known gangster who found himself out of the league very quickly. A thug. Gilbert had an incident where he did something dumb but likely was instigated big time. Gilbert has always been known league wide as a nerd and a goof ball. So I really doubt he's just going to rage in our laid back, family environment locker room.

he had issues before that incident...what is carrying an unloaded gun going to do? when Clippers start losing (eventually they will lose).. you know they have a habit of turning on each other.. its played out on the court when they start fighting each other..

No. Lots of players work out in different places and we have 0 use for a guard when we have so many already. Only thing we should be looking for is a banger at this point.

I'm simply saying I'd rather have a vet than Wayns. I understand Jamal and Redick and even Willie is capable to bring the ball up the floor. But we have roster spots and there's always good PG's available these days. I'd rather we didn't waste our time developing a borderline NBA talent at a position that is more than set.

CP will miss time this year. It would be smart to have a legit player behind Collison. Arenas is an interesting choice because he's wildly rich, doesn't care about money at all, he'd most likely jump at the chance to get a uniform on a contender...And who knows, maybe he breaks out. To do it on our team would be extremely beneficial for him. National games all the time, sold out stadiums every game...Good team to get some exposure. He'd definitely take the offer if we extended it.

Minimum salaries are always low risk. With Arenas there's a possibility of high reward.

I don't know where you get the idea that our players "have a habit of turning on each other"... we had one of the tightest locker rooms in the league last year.

In fact, sometimes CP3 and Blake even take a little TOO much responsibility for the team's shortcomings. With Doc at the helm, I expect an even closer group this year.

I'm with Dude on this one, would rather have him as a back up then Wayns. Imagine if he could start regaining some of the form from before his fall off, that would be amazing. I'd still like to see a big that can bang and am hoping for Amundson, but this would cheer me up due to the fact that Sterling would really show that he doesn't care about paying the tax if he signed him (even if I'd prefer it be on a banger big).

A lot of players practice at the Clippers facility.Melo and Harden were there the other day and so was Baron Davis.Doesn't really mean anything. The players just need a private place to practice and the Clippers facility usually has NBA players around so not a bad place to go.

The Arenas rumor has been around since last year.Don't know if him and Doc have a relationship but for a 3rd string PG I wouldn't mind Arenas. He won't play major minutes but if something were to happen to either PG,I would feel a lot more comfortable with Arenas taking on minutes than Maalik Wayns.

Understandable, but still, WAyns will play sparingly as Redick and Crawford will likely pick up any extra minutes CP3 and Collison don't play at PG.

Now if Collison or god forbid CP3 gets injured, then yes I'd like to visit the idea of someone like Arenas or whomever else to be a backup PG and so on. As of now, I still think another big man or a SF/PF would do wonders.

Arenas has had ties to this team for a little while now. When we beat the Grizzlies in the postseason 2 years ago, Arenas looked real happy for the Clippers and was celebrating with them. Butler, Young and Foye were former teammates and Barnes is his brother-in-law.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

I think what Gilbert is saying is that he's going to play pick up ball at the clipper facility like every other nba player do like Carmelo, David Lee, James Harden.. A Lot of them likes to play pick up basketball in our facility cause its nice like today everyone is playing ball. Matt Barnes just posted a video in Instagram. everyone is there including Steve Blake lol what a bum

I think having Gilbert Arenas as our 3rd string point guard would be great, I mean a player of his caliber as a third stringer is not something to turn your nose up to. I don't expect Jamal Crawford to play any kind of minutes in the point guard position because of how horrible he plays the position and JJ Redick will get those minutes sparingly. I like Maalik Waynes and would be happy with him as well but would feel more comfortable with Arenas just as insurance in the case that both CP3 and DC go down (knock on wood)

If gilbert arenas gets an invite do you think he has shot at making team over davies or wayns?

Alex Kennedy: I'm hearing that Gilbert Arenas has looked good in workouts this summer. The Clippers may invite him to training camp, according to sources. Twitter @AlexKennedyNBA

Would you guys want agent 0 on the clippers? i know he wears the coolest shoes for sure!

To have a legit 3rd option at pg would be sweet. Especially if Cp bangs knees with JJ again. Great insurance policy. Then we can also play the ultimate small ball lineup of 5 guards!!!! JJ CP3 jcross collison & hibachi. lol. Oh & don't forget Free Willie.

I'd love Agent Zero. I hear he's dominating this summer over NBA pros. As a 3rd string PG who's still young enough to blow up and find his game... he's SIGNIFICANTLY better than Wayns.

Chris goes down and Darren Collison can easily come in and starrt and Gilbert is our PG off the bench( or he starts I don't know how that would work out) Great AGAIN I WANT HIM

His problem in recent years hasn't been anything about him as a person, just the fact that he hasn't really gotten anywhere close to the level he was playing at pre-injury and has kinda sucked.

Starting PG, check, backup PG check, so to me, you can sign anyone you want to try at third PG and I don't care at all. I like Gilbert as the name probably implies, and as a 3rd PG it's just cool to have him on the team.

Man, this looks like a disaster to me. Can you imagine Crawford and Arenas on the floor together? It will look like the Harlem Globetrotters out there (not a good thing because they'd be playing against, you know, actual teams). Crawford and Arenas would have a contest to see who could look off the most open teammates and throw up the craziest shot after dribbling around for 15 seconds.

Maybe Doc is trying to assemble a second team of all gunners - Crawford, Arenas, Jamison, and mullens. If only we can somehow find room for Nick Young we can have the NBA version of the Run and Gun offense.
