Memphis?

San Antonio?

OKC?

Golden State?

Houston?

I'd say golden state, they gave us a lot of trouble last season.

GSW gave us trouble because Vinny's answer to our terrible 3pt defense was "we gotta run out to shooters". For $7 mil a year Doc better have a better answer than that!

Exactly. Doc is top 5 in 3 point defense like every year I think. I don't expect the same sort of weaknesses so it's too soon to answer this. We need to see our glaring flaws and big strengths under Doc and we should figure it out early in the season.

You have 5 teams that can all challenge us and unless we somehow get the top seed or 2nd at worst, the playoffs will be tough from the start - Houston, GSW, OKC, Spurs and Memphis all will be in the top 6 clearly with us the 6th team. If get the 1st or second seed we could very well end up against Portland or T-Wolves.

Gotta agree with everyone else that says the Warriors. They seem like the one Western Conference team that would give us hell in a 7 game series due to how well they match up against our team. I think we could get by Memphis, San Antonio, and probably Houston. OKC would be a close second for me after GSW.

GS. Mem is the one we hate because they are thugs, but GS has the weapons to be a real problem for us. SA,we match up well against.

Spurs. They just never roll over.

Memphis are being underrated because they made no big moves... but did they really need to? They're a squad built for playoff ball.

Dubs are being overrated. When the outside shots don't fall, they suck and losing Jack's penetration is going to expose that.

OKC can beat anyone on a given night... assuming Westbrook comes back as his old self.

Houston is a wildcard. I think they need another year to gel, but maybe not.

I think the hardest team for us to deal with in the WC I think is the Grizzlies. Spurs are a very close second just because you can't count them out. I don't see the warriors giving us much trouble at all, with Doc Rivers actually formulating a defense I think that we'll run GSW. Houston is a toss up, they need a year to really be on point but they will be good this season. OKC, I don't think they'll be an issue, yes they can beat us but I just see us as the better team. The Nugs are not going to be an issue but they will provide really exciting games for us to watch

I think the rockets are going to be the hardest team for us. With Dwight bringing their d to a higher level. He probably will go back to his magic form. He really hated kobe and it showed on the court. I think they play Asik and Howard together and have harden parsons and Lin launching 3s like there is no tomorrow. Dwight always does well with legit 3 pt shooters to spread the floor since he isn't too good at creating on his own.

Warriors look really good as well as Iggy is basically a huge upgrade over jack and I think Barnes probably blossoms this year

rockets will be easy lunch as they were last year.

warriors will be our personal toughest, and san antonio as always with there well efficient offense and great defense against us. We can keep up with kd and rw's okc with our athleticism and youth.

Grizz will remain tough to if our bigs haven't sacked up

The rockets had no internal scoring and were terrible at the 4. If Asik and Howard play together they will be a rebounding and defensive juggernaut. They will also monopolize terrible ft shooting, lol

Asik and Howard sounds to me like a repeat of Gasol and Howard back in LA just with James Harden being the NEW Kobe Bryant

Its actually quite different. Asik is not like Gasol at all. The Rockets also have a much younger core, better shooters and a better coach. Not to mention Howard should be healthier this season.

They certainly will be a tough matchup. Especially if our bigs don't show up.

The Spurs are one of those teams that generates a lot of benefit of the doubt due to their history. For the past couple of years they have been eliminated from the playoffs by the Lakers, Grizzlies, Mavericks, Thunder, and most recently the Miami Heat. The Spurs are always a team that manages to make the playoffs, and are a great regular season team (usually getting a high seeding), but come playoffs the are predictably eliminated. I don't put....

Having been to the WC finals 3 times since 07/08 their chances are good they could be there again. Them and Houston are ours biggest road blocks to the WC finals and NBA finals.

@PageC4- I have felt the same way about the Spurs the last few years, but Popovich always seems to have them over achieving in my opinion. I don't think their team is as good as what they produce, but Popovich really puts it all together so well that they keep doing very well. As long as they have him at the helm, I won't overlook them, but I think Houston is the biggest obstacle coming.

Houston just got Dwight and guessing that he returns to form he will definitely add a lot of defense and rebounding down low, then you have Asik coming off the bench which should outmatch just about any Centers coming off the bench. I think we don't really give Dwight the credit he deserves in part due to his lackluster year last year and all the drama he has surrounding him, but he's a defensive beast. He's two points if he gets position down low. I think Goldenstate will be good and really similar, and are stacked but don't have the same level talent. I like Iggy but don't think he brings what Dwight brings and that is the difference.

Either way if DJ and Blake step up the way I think they will, DJ defensively and Blake all around I don't think there is anyone out there that we don't match up well with. I know I sound like a homer, but if Doc solidifies the defensive system the way we are expecting DJ and Blake will look like defensive elites. We have the shooting, the dribble penetration, the system (here's hoping), the chemistry, the leadership.

They are defending western conference champs, so yes you're right. While I don't believe in them that doesn't mean the road isn't going to go through them. Nothing would make me happier than to face them again. In fact, my dream playoffs is to face the Lakers in round one, the grizzlies in round 2, and spurs in WCF.

Any other playoff scenario just wouldn't get us respect among sports analysts. But beat the Lakers and Spurs and people will finally look at you a different way

I wouldn't bet on it, but they surprised the heck out of me last year and did it.

Still, they are still the media darlings like the Spurs are and I can't think of anyone else I would rather open against

They may just challenge their record for the most loses in a season...if everything goes "right".

Man, it's hard to say. Spurs are always a tough challenge, they have a great core of players that compliment each other, as well as a great coach.

It might be hard to fully know until we see what Houston and Golden State do, and also how the Clippers defense looks. The weakness probably won't be 3PT shooting anymore, so that will change what teams are better / worse matchups.

I still got love for them. Thunder are ranked 3rd in my predictions. However, Thunder let Martin go, and don't get me wrong Reggie Jackson was a stud this year but to slide in and have to be 6th man like Martin is too much. In contrast, GSW got Iggy and O'neil and their guys like Barnes, Thompson will only get better. No knock on OKC its just GSW made bigger offseason moves

Understandable. Thunder are putting a lot of faith in some young guys, but if they do pan out, it will be interesting to see how they are. PJ and Lamb that is.

When it comes to the Thunder, it's not the lack of love, it's the matchup for me. If I think if all the playoff teams are running on all cylinders and reach their peak, I think we match up well with the Thunder. The Rockets are the one team I think if they gel and are running on all cylinders can be scary. Howard is the X-factor, if he is playing at his peak, then it is a match up problem for us. Thunder have Durant and Westbrook, but I think Blake is too much for Ibaka, and DJ would just have to play marginally better too much for Perkins.

Just like I think Blake is our X-factor. Our defensive prowess lies on Doc and DJ, but for us to become a really scary team it's Blake that needs to go to another level altogether in my opinion.

Lakers will not make the playoff this year...although they did get some good pick up off what seemed to be a horrible year... NAWWWWW.. not going to happen.

Houston will improve with D-Loser on their team but not enough to knock us off

With a Healthy OKC - that has been a challenge for us, hopefully with better defense that challenge will be eliminated...

The SPURS - you can NEVER count them out.. those old dudes still got much came left in them and Tim wants to WIN again before he retires..

Our Toughest Games will be with GS, and I will never count out Memphis.

OUR BIG MEN, have got to step it up..or it will be the same story different season. The potential is there, and with DOC...we CAN DO IT!

Yes, Gasol and Asik are as different of players as possible. Gasol is soft with no d very good shooter and a loose ball non banger rebounder. Asik can't shoot worth a lick but is a very good rebounder and defender.

^^^ also harden is a good outside shooter and kobe is not really a good outside shooter plus he is a huge prima Donna, which harden doesn't seem like at all.

Another vote for Golden State. Too much shooting, and if their bigs can play without injury and without disrupting their flow they are tough.

you forget a few details. They added Andre Iguodala, Jermain O neil, both solid defenders, and guys like Clay Thompson and Harrison Barnes were still pups last year. That team is now more than shooting

I really think Harrison Barnes is going to be a superstar, but not this year he's going to have to adjust to being the sixth man. If I were Golden State I would start Iggy at the two, start Barnes and bring Thompson off the bench. Don't think there is a SG that Iggy can't hold for the most part, and I think big SF give him issues (more than smaller ones, but he still does a great job defending them).
