Why do you think he'll be a superstar, didn't know that was the few on him?

I vote for the Rockets as toughest matchup. I don't think the Rockets will be the best team on the list (may finish 5-8 in West) but I think they will present matchup issues. PG: Paul over Lin, easy SG: Hardon over Redick (or Crawford) easy SF: Dudley/Parsons is a wash LP: Dwight/Asik over Blake/Jordan

Basically, I think Dwight and Hardon have a bigger advantage than any other combo will have in the West over our players at those positions, presenting the toughest matchups

Dudley is nowhere near a wash vs Parsons. Parsons is basically a MUCH better version of Dudley (both great do everything 3rd or 4th option types).

Haven't seen enough of him in pros to do a great comparison. But what you said further adds to the Rockets as the toughest matchup

I still don't think it's our toughest matchup. Harden and Dwight win their matchup in a landslide but so does CP3 and Griffin. In fact right now the biggest glaring matchup win for us is probably Griffin considering they will likely start an unproven player like Greg Smith. Parsons is the best 3rd option but we have a MUCH better 4th and 5th option as well as WAY more depth. So essentially they have a better top 3 but we crush them when you get passed the first three players. I'm not worried about Houston as much as I am the never aging Spurs, Warriors and even the Grizzlies.

Has anybody really looked at the Rockets roster top to bottom? They run about 7 deep, we run about 12 deep. Their drop off from the 3 best players is massive compared to us.

@agent0, don't really know if that is the view on him; but it is definitely my view on him. He can shoot, he can drive (needs work on his handles in my opinion, but better than advertised), he has the size to give anyone problems, and he seemed to be improving as a defender as the season progressed. He's only 21 on top of that, we keep seeing Blake get better and he's 24 so I would expect him to do the same. If he can pick up some of Iggy's defensive habits, he could be an issue for anyone because he has the size and potential to grow into a huge body. I like his turn around jumper the few times I've seen it, think if he drove a bit more and incorporated a few more fakes he would be killer.

As far as Houston goes, it really depends on the coaching and rotations. There is a lot of potential there. I like Patrick Beverly, Aaron Brooks, Francisco Garcia, and Asik off the bench. Do feel they are weak at the 4, but if the rotations are set in a way where you can cover that with Smith, Asik, and Howard they could be tough. The SG position is weak after Harden, but you can really mix Garcia and Lin in there in my opinion. The real X-factor is if Howard goes back to Orlando form, if he does he can be a force; and if you pair that up with Harden and the shooting there it could be troublesome. I do think that Goldenstate looks like the most complete and well balanced team from top to bottom, but you only have 5 guys on the court and don't think their young guys are ready.

Their bench is getting overrated. Brooks hasn't contributed to an NBA team for 3 years. Garcia is okay but nothing special. Asik will be traded most likely despite Morey's damage control move saying he's going to keep them and Beverly is solid but unproven. Basically you have Beverly and Asik as the only quality bench players who will contribute consistently and that's assuming Asik doesn't get traded. They are weak at the 4 and in the depth/bench department. Considering how deep every other contender is in the west that's a huge issue to have. If either Dwight or Harden go down with injury that team is fu**ed.

If I'm Houston I would start Beverly and play Lin off the bench with Brooks. I still think Brooks is a quality back up that can score and Garcia is a good 3 and D guy to me. Either way I'm just thinking playoffs where they could easily have a 8 man rotation that can be dangerous. Depth is not their strength, but I think they will be a tough team in the playoffs. If Howard or Harden get hurt it would be the same as if any other team lost its stars, don't think we would be the scariest team without our stars.

Oh I never meant to imply they won't be tough, no doubt they will. Just saying they don't scream matchup nightmare to me. Although as I said early in this thread it's way too early to talk about this or speculate really. Doc's teams have been ELITE defending the 3 pretty much every year in Boston and we know our play style is going to change drastically. Teams for example that killed us before like GS/SA were lights out shooting teams, may not be an issue anymore. Then teams like say Houston/OKC that we have done well against last few years who tried to outrun us.. may suddenly have a big edge on us if we slow it down any more than we did under Vinny. Most likely we will have a new identity to go along with new strengths and weaknesses.

Spurs, they swept us good in the playoffs a few years back. They are a savvy and experienced team that always defies the odds.

^ Yeah I agree... Out of all the teams, I think Golden State will give us the biggest problems. But I am looking forward to it cause its going to be entertaining as hell...
