Those uniforms are putrid. Bring back the royal blue. Even navy would look better. Light blue is weak.

Its hard to meet celebrities and athletes because most are total douches. I remember sitting at Dodgers stadium by the bull pen once and I saw Eric Gagne and Guillermo Mota warming up. I was yelling at Gagne saying "You are awesome" and just so Mota got some love to I also said Guillermo "you're amazing as well." Guillermo Mota turns the other way and just flipps me off. I never looked at athletes the same way. Fast forward to today. My wife and I went to the Summer League game where the Clippers played the D-League team, and we saw Sam Cassell. My wife asked who that was, and I told her the story of that team with Cassell and Mobley. She told me "go down there and take a pic with him." I was of course hesitant, but my wife went down there and got him to agree to take a pic. Cassell was nice, but I still remember the Guillermo Mota incident vividly and to this day it has made me hesitant to approach celebrities. I honsetly don't like to approach them because I would rather their image be what I ideally want them to be. If they turn out to be jerks it just ruins things.

I have no problem with them being alternates as long as they keep the use of them very rare and dependent upon the team uniforms they are playing

His whole quote is impressive:

"Right now, just getting this out of the way and knowing that tomorrow we get started, this is the most excited I've ever been and this is not coming from a guy who's been in the league for two or three years," Jamison, entering his 16th NBA season and first with the Clippers, said. "I think this is pretty much the most talented team I've been a part of. This team has the most chemistry that I've been a part of. The thing I like about it is nobody's worrying about contracts, nobody's thinking about All-Star appearances. I like that this team has come into the season with a certain chip on their shoulder, a frustration after the way the season ended last year. And the most important thing is that we know we have to take it to the next level, not only take it to the next level, but actually believe that."

This kind of worries me. You don't want a guy flat out proclaiming things like this, especially when he has a better shooter and overall player ahead of him. Somebody is bound to get toes stepped on if ANYBODY has this attitude.

Someone mentioned Doc saying he won't hold back CP's minutes because he's a young guy and that isn't necessary. I get that, but I think a few blowouts here and there will cause that to naturally happen anyways, but yea, there isn't an specific reason to hold back his minutes just for the sake of doing so.

It didn't do that bad back in the 70's for coach John Wooden and his UCLA squad, LOL! Maybe that's it, this new uni is to inspire our current UCLA alumni players to achieve the same success that former UCLA alumni did back in the 70's, lmao, but that would actually be awesome if it did.

Clippers really dropped the ball today on coverage of training camp. All the other popular teams like Nets, Lakers etc have had a ton of post practice interviews, stories, tidbits on player moments. Clippers? NOTHING but a brief article with like two quotes.

Strikeback your post didn't really make sense. What does media coverage have to do with the TEAM being more concerned with basketball? The Nets supposedly had incredible practices today with interviews and all that. The media WAS there and didn't get enough stuff for the fans to enjoy IMO.

Makes all the sense in the world. The Clippers organization has to set up players and staff availability for the press. Players and staff have to take time out of their 2 a day practices and bonding time, to talk to the media about generic things- they all love Doc, the new players are awesome, they won't settle for anything less then a chip...

I rather they handle basketball business instead of PR. It seems like its ALL BUSINESS. I'm sure some reporters watched the training and they can report what happened. The media can be a distraction.

Any of that make sense?

Well I respectfully disagree. I think you can and should have both. I don't even necessarily care that the players do interviews if they don't have the energy or are too busy. I meant in general more coverage from writers of the team in attendance. Although if all these other teams can do post practice interviews, I see no reason why we can't. We always have, I even remember them under Dunleavy. I understand what you're saying, what I said didn't make sense is that the media simply didn't report much and that doesn't have to do with the teams focus on basketball really, although sometimes they may tie in.

I wanted more info from writers about how certain players looked, who killed it, who struggled etc. The player interviews are secondary to me because as you said the main priority is basketball.

Yeah I hope they have reporters there watching and reporting back to us. Maybe Doc wants sometime alone with the team before they let the media watch. Like how he called out CP saying he's nothing, that's best done without reporters around. But yeah, I want more info too.

Maybe it has something to do with his hybrid defense (and who knows what him and gentry have cooking offensively). If he is trying to throw in a few wrinkles in his defensive system to accommodate the younger more athletic pieces he has, he might not want to let too much media in to see what's going on.

I do agree with you guys on a little more coverage by fox sports would be nice, especially since I think we are not going to be able to fly under the radar either way. I don't know, but I'm pretty excited about the season. I know all my friends here at work are fed up since they are mainly laker fans, and they can't stand it. It's hilarious.

I don't expect them to show practice highlights, but a recap show every day with player interviews would be nice. Abd if some of the beat writers are allowes to observe, I'd like their take on who looks like what.

Guys I'm mobile so can't post but NBA.com has videos now from today and yesterday. Our media needs to get stuff up quicker! Doc is so damn observant. You can tell he really did watch film on all of our games. He flat out said in yesterday's interview that DJ needs to be a great, defender always and not pout when he doesn't get offensive touches. Which was a huge issue last year.

Love what Doc said in the 2nd day of practice about the offensive changes coming this year:

After Tuesday's practice sessions were spent mostly focusing on defense, Rivers said the team got a little deeper into the offense Wednesday. He said there will be some noticeable differences between the 2013-14 version of the Clippers and last season.

Ultimately, though, he said the new offense will be about motion and rhythm and finding a system that helps not only the stars but role players thrive.

"There is a different between running and staying in motion," Rivers said. "Every team talks about running. We want to be a running team, but for us we want to be a team that's in motion, constant movement, so it's very difficult to load up on us.

"It's almost a rhythm, a pace. The pace is not extremely fast. It's not slow. It's always a pace and, to me, that's more effective and that's what we're trying to get our guys to do. We don't want our team to be an isolation team. We don't our team to be a hold the basketball team. I think you can get away with that in the regular season and then in the playoffs they load up on you and all of a sudden that isolation doesn't work anymore."

This is what differentiates good coaches from mediocre coaches. Vinny said things like "everyone runs the same stuff", but yes, while the foundation of an offensive set is the same, the good coaches are differentiated from the mediocre in how they run the sets and the intricacies in how their team plays. It was always weird to hear Vinny sort of dismiss that.

Oh, and I loved that clip of Blake making a long jumpshot Smile. The great thing about having guys like Bledsoe and Collison as backup PG's is that in practice it allows Chris to continue to work on how he guards really quick PG's. So it isn't a new thing when he's matchup up against a really quick PG in games.

We will get more exposure soon enough. So far our last two playoff season have increased the fan base, as evidence by the now ovewhelming member count (I have never experienced so many new members here). But we still havent gotten the media coverage we need. For example, ESPN 710 has Mason and Ireland for a couple of hours Monday-Friday, we in contrast don't have that. But this year if we do go farther than the Lakers, which we will, then the media will take notice and the coverage will be better. Last year was bittersweet. On one hand we swept the Lakers, but on the other the bigger news during that time was that Jerry Buss died. Our 56 win season and sweep of the city's favorite son went unnoticed. Mason and Ireland acted like nothing happened the next day as if the Lakers never played the Clippers and all that happened that week was Buss' death. We need to change the media bias, and that needs to happen when we finally put a season together that ends well. This needs to be the year gentlemen.

Blake's jumper didn't look that slow. At least not with that hesitation we've seen before. Frankly, it was behind the 3 point line and he looked like he was just getting set, then shot. Looked pretty good actually. I just don't want him shooting THAT far. I want him shooting mid range.

I like seeing JJ hit from the outside from a Blake pass! Hope to see a lot of those this season!

I also don't think we interpret playing at the elbow to mean that he will be there every single possession. If he's setting a screen or is open on a secondary break situation, he can take shots from spots he's comfortable shooting from.

A starting unit of CP, JJ, Dudly, Blake and DJ lost a gm to the backups. How is that possible?

I can tell Rivers is pushing buttons, I like it. Blake and DJ lost yrs of their careers under Vinny.

Well, our backups are pretty damn good. Collison, Crawford, Barnes, Hollins, and Mullens can be very formidable

First, most of the backups are good (although how the post hung with Blake and DJ is interesting).

Second, there is a story of how the Original Dream Team lost the first scrimmage against the college practice team. The theory is the coaches manipulated the calls and some other things to bring the Dream Team down to earth and motivate them. I can see a similar thing happening here. The Clippers are deep, but unless some post players will really surprise, not sure how that happens straight up
