He also met with the Lakers

The Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers were the two teams that Lou Amundson visited this week and discussions went positively with both organizations, agent Mark Bartelstein told RealGM on Friday.

Amundson had met with a couple teams last week and sat down with two more within the past few days, and the 6-foot-9 forward is continuing dialogue with interested teams in hopes of landing a deal soon.

"They were good meetings," Bartelstein said. "I wouldn't quite use the word frontrunner right now, but there's interest, and hopefully we can get something done soon."

Amundson, 30, averaged nearly two points and three rebounds a season ago and would bolster a team's frontcourt. He has played for eight teams over a seven-year NBA career.

Amazing news - we might get one of the few players, who hits less FTs than DJ!

Yeah I've heard he can't shoot free throws, but I didn't realize he was one of the worst until I read this and checked. (Actually shoots a better career percentage than DJ, but I think the idea is clear that it's pretty awful). Still, I'd buy into Amundson with the hustle and energy alone. Let him play 8 mpg and get a couple rebounds and take some hard fouls. Better add than Jamison, that's for sure.

^ That video clearly justifies why I hate Zack Randolph.

He's likes to play bully ball and is just an idiot.

Pray that dude and Memphis get swept again this year. Can't stand him.

On a side note and back to the topic, I hope they pass on this guy. Free throw shooting is becoming more crucial than ever. We don't need anyone else on the roster getting hacked. We pretty have. A full roster that shoots free throws really well besides DJ so here's to hoping it stays like that.

When I read the Clips narrowed their choice to Odumb and Jamison I asked "how much worse could it get". Then I found out - Amundson...

It would not surprise me at all if Hill signed a 10 day contract somewhere and ended up playing in the PO's. His problem was that he never recovered from his injury.

He was so solid even old an injured. One of the classiest men ever to set foot on the wood

Does this mean Odom is playing in China? He can play SF for LAL

The guy is above average defender, has no offensive game, can't hit FTs and is not really rebounding much. What good is another guy, who can't play late in the 4th? Sorry to say, but there are better centers/forwards in Europe and they will be happy to get a shot at the NBA. The Hawks got a very solid forward, who is a real beast in Pero Antic and we seem to be looking at some of the most limited players left!

I understand your concern but why would we even play him in the 4th unless its a blowout? We are looking at 12th-15th men here. Guys who barely get time. He is just another body to throw at opposing bigs. Nothing more. You don't get average players to be a 12th-15th man. Of course I would prefer better players but we only have the vet min. As for rebounding. He averages over 10 per 36 career wise as a 6'9 forward. That is well above average....

Exactly.I don't think anyone here wants Amundson to be the first big off the bench, but for a 12-15 man I think he would be a good fit. When you talk about 12-15 players, you are either looking for raw prospects, glue guys, past their prime vets, or specialist.I would categorize Amundson as a specialist. He only is on the court to grab boards and defend. The most he would play a game would be 5-10 min.

From that point of view it's not important who we get but with the roster we have I think the only thing we are missing is a big who can defend and grab rebounds.Amundson is an above average defender and rebounder.Strange how so many people loved Reggie Evans but don't like Amundson who is basically the same play but a better defender.

Look, Amundson isn't going to make any All Star teams, win any awards or push a team into a contender. But, he plays hard and is a big body with relatively solid health. This team needs bigs, obviously the team didn't like what it saw with a few other players or just didn't have the money. Amundson isn't an every night type of player and frankly neither is Ryan Hollins. He'd be the 5th big man on the team, which is a must for any NBA team.

It'll be nice also to rotate him and Hollins a bit on the bench to avoid injuries, and to limit Mullens' work load as he'll be the #1 big man off the bench.

I'm all for Amundson being signed, granted I won't throw any parties or expect to be the #1 team in the NBA but it's a quality signing to add insurance and depth to the team. Sign Odom as well and let's get on with the show!

Ideally, we need a backup pf or c who can shoot freebies and has a very solid defensive game. Amundson is a very good defender, but not good from the charity stripe. That being said, he aint gonna play clutch time. Mullens and Hollins are our backup bigs, and I like mully as an ofensive option. I like hollins being capable of making ft, but he is a fouling machine. Lou could play tough D, and in hack a big situations, we could play hollins.

Amundson gets to the line 1.4 times a game, and that number is rather small, and also a little inflated because of a 4 year span where he actually played 14-18 MPG. I don't expect Amundson to play 10-18MPG nightly, nor every night. And if he misses 1 free throw in 1 attempt, big whoop? How many times will Blake, CP3, Crawford and everybody else miss who actually shoots like 5-10 free throws on a given night?

I highly doubt Amundson is going to be at the free throw line ONCE with the game on the line and if he makes both shots, we win. He more than likely won't be on the floor in that situation. If he can board, play physical, give hard fouls and spell our main rotation a few minutes here and there then great. Amundson won't be signed to shoot free throws. All this talk about his FT shooting is ridiculous, 1.4 attempts a game for his career and it's apparently a deal breaker to some people. Be thankful Dwight Howard isn't on our team shooting 25 free throws and making 12.

Yeah I read something that said the only reason they haven't offered the min to Jamison is because they're holding out for Odom to come back. I don't know if that was just reported later and the ranking is now Odom, Amundson, then Jamison (which it hopefully is), but the piece is only a day or two old. I don't know how this is going to play out..

Yea chances are they get both but right now they can't if they sign Lamar first we would have a 15-man-roster

PG- Paul/Collison/Wayns SG- Reddick/Crawford/Green SF- Dudley/Barnes/Bullock PF- Griffin/Odom/Davies C- Jordan/Hollins/ Mullens

The Clippers would have waive Davies or do a S&T with NO( I assume ) To sign Lou Amundson! Once that happen which I think it will our Depth Chart will look like this

PG- Paul/Collison/Wayns SG- Reddick/Crawford/Green SF- Dudley/Barnes/Bullock PF- Griffin/Odom/Amundson C- Jordan/Mullens/Hollins

We may not get both! Its probably going to be like If the Clippers get Lamar first The Lakers will get Lou or Vice Versa! I hope we get both because this depth chart! Coached by two greats!! Looks like a good championship contender team! Great Offensive and Defensive Options! I like it

Head Coach: Doc Rivers Associate Coach: Alvin Gentry PG- Paul/Collison/Wayns SG- Reddick/Crawford/Green SF- Dudley/Barnes/Bullock PF- Griffin/Odom/Amundson C- Jordan/Mullens/Hollins

@ESPNSteinLine: Hearing: Free agent big man Lou Amundson is going to training with the getting-richer Clippers @ESPNSteinLine: That is: Hearing free agent big man Lou Amundson is going to training CAMP with the getting-richer Clippers **** UPDATE **** Lou Amundson To Join Clippers For Camp By Luke Adams After being linked to the Clippers in multiple reports over the last several weeks, Louis Amundson is prepared to join the team for training camp, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein (via Twitter). It appears that Amundson will be the first fully non-guaranteed camp invitee added by the Clips, bringing the club's roster to 16 players.

In addition to their 13 players on guaranteed contracts, the Clippers also have Maalik Wayns on a non-guaranteed deal and signed Brandon Davies to a contract that included a $50K guarantee. Given his advantage in NBA experience and the club's potential need in the frontcourt, Amundson may have the upper hand for earning one of those last two roster spots, though he'll likely need to impress in camp.

Amundson, 30, saw NBA action for the Timberwolves, Bulls, and Hornets (now the Pelicans) last season, averaging 1.9 PPG and 1.5 RPG in 39 contests. As Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors wrote when he examined Amundson's free agent stock, 2012/13 certainly wasn't the best showcase of the big man's ability, but he's still capable of grabbing some rebounds in limited minutes off the bench.

Good Sign For That Rougher We Wanted!

I have been hoping we sign Amundson for a while, especially after we signed Jamison. He isn't a great player but he brings the toughness, defense, and rebounding we needed. It's only a training camp invite but Amundson is a very hard worker and I think will impress Doc and our FO enough to get the 14th spot on the roster. That would mean cutting or sending Davies and Wayns to the D-League which I am fine with since both are projects anyways. This will complete a great roster in my opinion.

PG: CP3,Collison SG: Redick,Crawford,Green SF: Dudley,Barnes,Bullock PF: Griffin,Jamison,Amundson C: DJ,Mullens,Hollins

I like the fact that whether it's him or Brandon Davies, that they would pretty much have to compete against each other in training camp. I really do like the idea of signing him, he really brings the missing piece of hustle ,energy, and decent front court defense to our team.

I'd rather have Lou on the roster than Malik Waynes, my reasoning is that Malik will benefit from more time in the D-League (Davie's would too) and also our current backcourt players are versatile and don't have many glaring weaknesses to their games to where u would need to rotate them often for different match ups... Our frontcourt is a different story. Each of our frontcourt players other than Blake have huge weaknesses and Lou would give us one type of big man that we haven't had since we gave up Reggie, who is humble enough to get some DNP's when match ups are off, & since he has no contract, I'm sure there's no ego. & I'd rather have him as a backup big when we face a rough team like Memphis or against Joakim Noah than Hollins, Mullins, Jamison or Davies. We need his type in the rotation.

I like it because he's one of the few guys available with some toughness. I don't think any of us think he's going to play down the stretch or to be a force on offense (heck we have other players for that), but to provide some toughness during moments. Remember we had two guys in Reggie Evans and K Mart a couple of years ago who were basically muscle but terrible FT shooters. AMUNDSON IS NOT AS GOOD AS THOSE GUYS...but it's a similar role, I think.

I'm thinking this is just training camp move. Needed a little more depth at the low post to run intense 5-on-5 scrimmages and this helps bring an edge and depth for practice. If somehow, he shines, that's an added bonus. Otherwise, he's just there to toughen up Blake and DJ.

I hope he makes the team over Davies! He's the hard nosed hustler and rebounder that would be nice to have. He's a poor mans Reggie who would be a 12th-15th man. Practice would be more intense lol.

if you think about it, we have 1 superstar surrounded by a bunch of good role players. being projected to finish so high next season, you get the impression that this team is stacked with start talent, it isn't. i like that.
