The way some of you guys are talking, it's like we're about to close out the season.

It's preseason 1... haha calm down guys.

Too many offensive fouls by Amundson, however.

I knew Amundson would fit amazing. Reggie Evans type player we NEED more than Davies.

To be clear, I'm rooting for Crawford to succeed, but I feel he spent all summer being wary that it's affected his play

We're gonna need Amundson. All the Bigs aside from our 2 starters are shooters.

And now he's spending all this time with LaMarcus Aldridge and they were clearly having a conversation they didn't want anyone to hear

DJ put up monster stats in just 21 minutes of play tonight. Wow. And I love Lou's hustle. Wayns is a little spitfire.

Missed most of the game- dang Deandre Jordan 16 points, 8 boards & 4 blocks, 2 steals in 21 minutes? WHOA. Way to go big fella- keep it going man! I'd like to see his improvement when he goes up against some of the top centers of the league, but this was a great start.

Be fun to see Amundson and Hollins on the floor at the same time. Wonder what the over/under would be on the total fouls between those two. Razz [/list]

^^Yep, hopefully they cut some of that fouling stuff out and they'd be out there longer.

Also I need to chime in on the DJ argument. DJ has always started off well in seasons BUT never have I seen so much focus, IQ and leadership from him as I saw tonight. It was as if suddenly he has become THE leader on our team, above CP3 and Blake. Doc brilliantly got in his head the way Phil Jackson did with so many of his players. He's said and done a bunch of things to get DJ mentally off the charts to where he BELIEVES he is a superstar. It was beautiful to watch DJ on both ends! Dude was like 5-5 from the line right?

DJ looked great, CP3 looked great, BG played OK. He did well with the free throws, but in the first quarter he missed like 4-5 open jumpers which seemed to hurt his confidence. Dudley wasn't much of factor. Willie green played well, but I can't wait to see JJ in the starting line up. Byron Mullens shot way too many 3's. He was open but most of them weren't even close. Hopefully gets that down soon... All in all it was awesome watching a game again. CLIPPER BASKETBALL IS BACK!!!

I think DJ was 4-5, but damn good. And Blake's FT's looked so smooth tonight!

Bledsoe still handled the ball quite a bit while on the floor, he's an on ball player primarily, and Crawford played a decent amount with Paul, just under half his minutes and was very effective. I think it is just one bad game.

Time to watch some Bledsoe highlights. Wish you were still a Clipper though I really like Collison.

some guys can't seemingly be as effective as NBA players without their fouling, just have to take it as part of them

Kudos to Willie Green too- very good #'s in heavy minutes, w/ zero turnover.

Thanks bro, likewise! Like some of you guys mentioned, BG (along with DJ) looked like different people at the charity stripe. I think they only missed one between the two of them lol I hope that Crawford does find his rhythm in doc's system soon, seemed like he didn't have enough opportunities to iso tonight.

Did Mike Smith just say we held Portland to 5/24 shooting from deep? Have we ever done that even in preseason?

Wow Clippers live is slipping bad. 30 minutes post game of nothing but commercials and one short Doc interview? I can't wait until this contract is up in 2 years.

Finally some Clippers basketball Smile I only watched the first half. DJ looked great but then again he looked unstoppable in the first preseason game last year so I'll wait til regular season for the verdict. Blake wasn't too hesitant with his jumper. Willie was sharp. 3 weeks until we beat down on that OTHER la team!

Didn't see the game but why is anyone surprised at Willie "Guns" Green? He was one of the top three pt spot up shooters in the league and we won more with him than Billups. He's stronger than Jamal and at least tries to play D. Jamal is streaky and can be a black hole. I would bet Jamal doesn't work doing the Reggie Miller thing. Willie G doesn't complain or send ambiguous tweets. I would rather have him start than Jamal. Remember Jamal should have been nominated as an allstar (not be one). Tradeable for a good PF.

Mullens played awful. He took way too many jumpers and missed all but one. Collison played decent defense, but also struggled offensively. Jamison was the surprise. He made 7 points in 7 minutes. Amundson seemed to be the pesky defender he has been known to be. Redick and Bullock didn't play. Overall DJ and Green had the best performances.

It's one game, but I love what I saw from the starters especially DJ. I think that him Doc getting in his head has helped, not only with making him believe he is a star but telling him what it takes to be a star. Willie should be no surprise he came in right where he left off in my opinion. I did want to see more out of Blake, but I can wait. The others all looked liked what I expected.

Jamal didn't look bad just an off shooting night, but at least he didn't try to shoot himself out of his slump in my opinion. It also looked like he was playing the 3 quite a bit if I'm not mistaken. The bench looked a little off still, but missing Barnes could hinder them I think. Jamison, Collison, and Amundson had some bright spots off the bench. Mullens was a little irritating, but I think that his shot selection can be coached. Hollins was Hollins.

One preseason game down, but I liked the movement of the ball and players. Defensively see a lot of potential from the starters.

Really impressed by how DJ played today and i liked how he shot his free throws, they looked so clean.. Really wished I could have seen bullock played.. Collision looks a little rusty but it's preseason.. Jamison impressed..

Jamison looked good out there. And you're right Collison looked bad he seemed to just be trying to use his speed last night. I would like for him to just play better point guard play and set up other men out there. I hate to see him out there just trying to speed by defenders and act as the primary weapon.

Also, is it me or did the tempo go much faster last night? Last season we seemed to play a little slower and more controlled.

There was bound to be a droppoff in bench production with Bledsoe gone, but with the addition of Collison it should be less of a drop. Collison had a bad night, so I do expect this to be more of an abberation. I know he's capable of playing better

So DJ commits to defense and his offense just finds him. Fancy that! No need for "more touches"... just run the floor, big fella. He finally appears to have gotten the message CTB has been sending for years.

I also think the great FT shooting was just an extension of his confidence from owning his own paint. I hope he can keep up that ownership when he faces adversity a little stronger than Robin Lopez.

Anybody else notice CP3 didn't talk nearly as much last night? He didn't have to! He actually has a coach now. Never seen him so quiet and able to just focus on basketball and not so much on leading.

I didn't realize BJ took 7 there's. He needs to be more selective in his shots. Yes, shoot if you're open, but don't be so willing to fire up a shot you can get anytime. Work for something in the paint. Like I said during the game too, he needs to mix up rolling with popping, don't think I remember him rolling to the basket.

Doc was doing what Mike Smith was asking for all last year, the quick hitter slip pick and roll on the secondary. Doc obviously watched film and saw how effective it was. Teams will scout it though, but then Paul or a shooter might still get an opening.

Also remember that Barnes wasn't playing for the bench. This bench isn't a defensive juggernaut like last season, but their offensive potential is much better.

Collison is like offensive Bledsoe. He also likes to push a lot and is fast, but he an shoot better and score more efficiently. You will see him trying to just use his speed all season, that's part of what he does. He's a good enough set up guy, but he's not great at it, and he has his struggles with post passing, but he doesn't need to post anyone up in the second unit. We'll definitely see a drop off cause he's playing behind a PG wizard.

I sure hope Blake gets more comfortable with that jumper...or at least at the elbow.

I also forgot to mention the team got outrebounded BUT didn't blow it on the glass much despite that. Lots of good boxouts, allowing guards like CP3 to run in and snag the boards.

BTW why didn't Jamison play more than 7 minutes? He played way better than say Mullens and scored well, got a few boards and played okay D. I guess maybe they want to bring the older player along slower this year.

I think Doc just wants to save his legs. Dude is ancient and he knows how to prepare himself. I don't think we'll see a lot of Jamison until the real games.

Even though Mullens lived up to the chucker billing last night, I hope they just keep running him out there all pre season and just see how he develops. He has the potential. We may not need him to be successful but it would be gravy if he could produce consistently. He's as big as Hollins and has the potential to do so much more on the offensive end.

Loved Lou also. We need to keep that guy. If it means Davies is cut and ends up somewhere else, so be it. We need to have a guy like that on this team.

I want Doc to try and showcase whatever offensive game Mullens has MUCH closer to the basket. If he can get easy putbacks and 6-10ft shots to fall, he can still be useful.

I was not impressed with Byron Mullins (he reminds me of Brian Cook). He doesn't box-out, doesn't try for rebounds, doesn't cut to basket, he simply stands at 3 point line yelling "i''m open". In Aug I suggested we trade Crawford for a "big". Crawford won't fit into an offensive "system", he only knows 1 on 1 offense and he does not help on defense. I saw improvement with DJ but I'm cautiously optimistic. I want to see if he can maintain focus and maturity when the team faces adversity.
