Amudson has done nothing really impressive at all being so lost on offense. Davies has been a let down what is so damn hardto understand we have two bigs who are shooters in Ant and Mullens post up on thedamn block already.

We need post play you are killing your need value just shooting.

JJ's the first to leap off the bench to high five everybody during time outs. Of course he has all that energy from NOT PLAYING!!! lol

Kidding. Quad doesn't look to debilitating...I think he'll be back sooner than expected.

Well, our guards didn't embarrass themselves tonight, so far:

Collison: 18 points, 8 assists, 3 steals and a block

Green: 12 points, 5-9 shooting, 5 rebounds, 2 steals

Crawford: 25 points, 8-12, 3 assists, 1 steal

Our front court on the other hand...

Yeah, I'm not so sure I wouldn't have started Jamison and Hollins instead.

If you don't look at his FG % and his turnovers, Mullens had a pretty good game. lol

Biggest two worries are Dudley sucking yet again (anyone miss Caron?) and Mullens chucking away. This bench is not going to be as good as last year I worry

BTW speaking of Evans earlier in this thread....he had 10 rebounds for the Nets in 16 minutes tonight.

I don't think I'll ever really miss Caron. But I do expect more from Jared. Maybe he needs a guy like JJ to divert some attention away from his side of the arc.

Keep calm, Dudley will be just fine...Mullens on the hand.

Meh, I don't think we're that worked up. We get that we were without our big guns. And sure enough our back up bigs couldn't handle Cousins. There's a little disappointment that we didn't execute a little better as a team on O and D and there were a few breakdowns. But I suppose it shouldn't have been unexpected. It gives Doc an opportunity to tell the team it still has more work to do.

Tells the reserves and maybe reserves that have they a lot of work to do.

Were not as deep as we thought we were.. Or maybe the system is still not hammered it with the second unit.. I hope its just that and missing Barnes

i think mullens just had an off night he looked a lot better the previous games

i think its time we got rid of Malik and davies and found some players who can actually contribute

I keep feeling like Amundson is a better bet than Davies but seems like Davies has played better so far. He's probably slower laterally but he's sneaky good on the boards, can hit a shot on occasion, and doesn't foul every time down the court.

Wayns could be at risk if this injury keeps him out for a week. I'd personally rather see us use a combination of Willie, JJ and Jamal in emergency PG situations. Keep an extra big and don't worry about 3rd string PG.

Like someone says, maybe we're not as deep as last season. At least, last season they can keep up with some teams starter. I can't see with this one.

amundson can play a lot better than he's shown the last three games. in my opinion he's the best defender outside barnes griffin and jordan. i really don't think they should keep davies he's too small to play power forward and can't shoot well enough to be small forward; i think he could get better though. they should try sending him to the d league and see how he improves

Pretty poor showing by the bench, they got absolutely murderd in the paint, the bigs look real soft, one would hope doc would not run this lineup during the reg season

Meh, we were missing 5 of our top 7 guys. Did anyone expect good results?

Mullens is a chucked and really seems kinda soft.

Hollins looks pretty terrible.

Jamison can no longer carry a team, but should be a good bench option.

Amundson has disappointed, but he's more of a guy you want out there as the forgotten man, not a focus of the team.

Crawford and collison looked good, although I would have liked some penetration

Dudley can't carry a team, but he keeps doing the little things

Willie is making a serious case for rotation minutes

Sad about Wayns

Davies had a couple nice plays, but nothing that really impressed me.

I don't see a designated starter and bench unit running alone. I think doc needs to have a mix of starters and bench players because our bench isn't strong enough to stand alone. But I do think the pieces mesh well with the starters and can still do some damage while giving the starters a breather.

A bit off topic, but if Hollins and Mullens are our b/u centers, I'm a bit worried.

Antwon and Mullens are more offensive geared players, like Pau Gasol but without the accuracy. Someone above posted that if the shots are not falling then strategy has to be changed, which i wholeheartedly agree with.

This is where Doc Rivers needs to make adjustments. I would focus on two players in particular so far Mullens and Dudley. Doc needs to instill in Mullens that during the course of a game you need to adjust.

As with Dudley he has been an absolute non-factor. This is troubling because he came onto this club with a decent shooting percentage, and outside of him the other perimeter player we got was Redick.

In this offense I don't expect Dudley to get 10 points, but at least 6-7 points on accurate shooting would be pulling his weight.

AS for Amundson his value is that he is a pesky defender. He throws people off their game. Such a player will be valuable in frustrating the opposition and making them lose focus. I can't wait to see Amundson against Z-Bo.

Yeah, this needs to change. He needs to incorporate mid range shots and dunks.

Is it me or does it seem like the ball never really swings Dudley's way? There were a couple of times last night I noticed he was wide open behind the arc, but we didn't go to him.

People stop forgetting how short we were. Just the bench alone was missing Green (who had to start and scored 13), Bullock and Barnes. Those are 3 of the main bench guys that will likely contribute a lot this year. Then without the 4 starters we missed opening things up, it makes it easier to stop bench guys. I would take NOTHING from this game besides the fact that Byron continues to be a chucker, Jamal finally hit his shots and played well and that Collison continues to show he will fill in just fine as a backup PG. Outside of that not much can be learned, because we had like 9 players available, most 3rd stringers.

First of all, in game like this where the question mark reserves and maybe reserves are over exposed, their weaknesses get the spotlight shined on them very brightly. Most of those guys outside of Collinson and Crawford won't come close to getting that much minutes in a single game.

For Mullins that is like 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 games worth, Jamison 2 games, Amundson (if he even makes the squad) 4-5 games and Davies, as with Amundson, 6/8 games maybe, LOL. Hollins is what we saw and witnessed last year so no one should be surprised.

If BG or DJ go down with extended injuries, there is no one we have or could have acquired for the $ we had "available", that would have soften that blow. Maybe a future trade with one of our surplus SG can maybe, maybe help with that.

As I have said before, this is the year that Blake and Deandre are needed to play 36+ and 32+ MPG (their talents warrant that)... And as with all title contenting teams, we need the BB gods to be kind to us in the injury department.

Dudley has to put up AT LEAST 10 ppg this season same for Jordan we can't afford to have any starter being backed off on. This game was outside of Dudley just showed our front court needs a boat load of work. Why in the world did the coaching staff do nothing about three big men doing nothing but jump shooting.

If this is going to be the case just roll out collision/Crawford/bullock/Barnes and Mullens at least Barnes will scrap on the glass.

Don't think that's going to be a problem as Dudley has done that the last 3 years and DJ will do that if he gets the minutes (32+ which I'm very confident he will). He showed last year if had played in that amount of time he would averaged 11.6.

If he only averages 9 PPG and plays the type of defense/rebounding like he's exhibiting in the first few preseason games, that'll be the real game changer for him and the team.

i am all for trading crawford for a backup reserve after what I have seem from green this season and last. I actually think he is every bit as good as JJ in his own way. I am officially on the "trade Crawford" bandwagon

At last we agree Shocked. Like you said this year we NEED our bigs to play heavy minutes as they should. Hollins and Mullens again as you said will NEVER play minutes like this.

^ Yep. Looks like big minutes for our frontcourt starters, one of them being in at all times and liberal dashes of small-ball with Barnes guarding a PF.
