He's a little rough on BG but good video, hopefully through the season more of those shots will fall.

Yeah, what's with the cheap shot on Blake? There was a lot of missed shots he could have made other snide comments about (like Mullens misses) but didn't. And Blake is known for good footwork.

He doesn't like Blake's awkward moves... neither do many people.

A little rough!? That guy was extremely biased it was ridiculous. Blake griffin has some of the best footwork for a big man in the NBA. I'm in AP Stat, last time i checked there should never be such blatant bias when analyzing anything...

All the guy said was Blake showed awkward footwork and he's not lying. He didn't say in general he had bad footwork, but rather that those particular moves were extremely awkward and unorthodox, which I agree with. He didn't say anything else about Blake besides the one hook shot that he called a terrible post move (it kinda was). He's hard on Blake, but wasn't attacking him IMO.

Blake has above average footwork, but its definitely awkward and he can get sloppy and indecisive. I think a good criticism I've heard of him is that he basically makes it up as he goes, he does improv. While that is useful, it's better to have a move where you're always looking for in the post as your bread and butter, then build your counters, your improv around that. He was a hard on him, and I think a lot of people unfairly are, but it's also true, just that the truth can be said in different ways.

The movement is great, but it is really about the options. I hate offenses where its like okay we're running post up, and we'll wait for as long as it takes to post up while everyone stands around, and it if doesn't work, we'll chuck up an iso shot. That's kind of what Vinny didn't get. I've said it before, but I hated when he would say "everyone runs the same stuff". Yes, the basic offense setup is the same, but it is what happens out of that setup and the movement and dynamics you add to it as a coach.

I remember someone said CP can't play off the ball like Parker does with the Spurs, probably jarca, but he loves Parker, lol. Well the reality is that smart players can play as they need to play, but many coaches just say "if I have a guy like this, why make my offense more difficult than it needs to be" (obviously because against a good defense you make him work too hard). Pop isn't one of those guys, Parker wouldn't play the way he does it he wasn't coached by Pop because many other coaches would just want to run simple high pick and rolls and horns with no action and rely on his individual talent.

Thank you, what we as Clippers fans have been saying. Offense did need to improve, but the major limiting factor was terrible playoff defense. It boggles my mind how people still think it is all about offense. The worse your defense is, the better your offense needs to be to win which is why Utah had the 10th best Ortg but was only 41-41. Did anyone thing those Boston teams in their later years were advancing because Rondo was leading a good offense? No, it was because they weren't allowing the opposition to produce even at an average level offensively, so they just had to be barely good enough on offense to win games.

The offense was never really good system wise with VDN, though he ran some stuff that as initial plays were good. It had a lot of issues, mainly centered around the progression of the offense and counters, but Paul individually is very good, so he masks all that. Both of the playoff losses have been much more about defense than offense, even the loss to SA where the offense was actually miserable.

Whatever. He didn't have to deliver cheap shots at Blake to get his points across. It seemed like a needless dig when he chose not to dig on anyone else. So there's really no point in defending this youtube clown.

He's not a clown though. He's actually a really nice guy who I speak to regularly and a good amateur coach who knows the game. He rightfully picked our sets and schemes apart last year and like I said there was more praise than criticism in this video. I think that might be a tad bit of an overreaction. I'm constantly accused of being a huge Blake homer and I wasn't even really offended. His criticisms weren't general ones but rather in the moment ones that were accurate. The footwork WAS really sloppy on the one play and his hook shot WAS a terribly awkward post move.

Why are people making such a big deal about what he said towards the end of the video about Blake lol? Its not like he regularly bashes Blake right? It was just a joke and frankly somewhat true. Blake's indecisiveness often leads to awkward plays like that. Its not necessarily his footwork per se but he has a tendency to overdribble like he is a PG and like I said his indecisiveness.

Nah sorry. Sure, he knows his stuff, but he easily could have illustrated his point just fine without the cheap shot. It's not an overreaction on my part. I couldn't care less about this guy who, frankly, didn't say anything on this vid we didn't basically already know. I'm simply unimpressed with his temptation to throw in a couple of jabs at our 3 time All Star when it seemed completely unnecessary. The fact he did so makes me wonder why. What exactly was his motivation behind it. I mean those snide remarks seemed rather out of place within the context of what was otherwise a logical illustration of offense.

It wasn't one thing, he threw 2 cheap shots at Blake. Didn't throw any jabs at anyone else. Hmmm...I wonder why?

So if Mullens shoots a 30 footer and I say it was a hideous shot.. is that a "cheap shot"?

If your going over several offensive plays featuring several different players, but take the time to call Mullens shot hideous without singling out anyone else? Then yes, it's a cheap shot.

Repped High Quality Post

What I like is that the Clippers were pretty off that game yet he showed a lot of positives. Their shooting and execution has been much more polished in other games this preseason but the fundamentals still got them plenty of good looks through the creativity he pointed out. He showed Blake hitting some nice 20 footers but the moves he said were ugly were pretty ugly. Blake's my fav so I don't like the negative comments but they were fair enough and we know Blake's better than he thinks lol (he wasn't even supposed to play this game with his ankle). Blake will show him during the regular season! Lots of positives. They aren't just standing around anymore!!

If his negative comments didn't seem both smug and oddly out of place from his overall point, I really wouldn't have given a damn.

Exactly, it just seemed so unnecessary. And screwy sounds a heck of a lot worse than awkward

What he said about Blake didn't seem a big deal to me.

I'm excited that we have some proper offense being put in place. Bring on the easy buckets!

It's not a bad video, he doesn't seem to be a fan of Blake; but who cares. I like that he highlight of the improvements over Vinny's offense, can't wait to see him highlight the Defensive improvements. I really enjoy that they are not waiting so late in the shot clock to start their plays, and the movement and reduction in ISO plays is great. This guy knows his stuff, but does seem biased.

I think the Blake comments seem like a dig since he took two shots at him in the video, but he also took one at Dudley and Jamison. Blake is a much more vital part of our team, so what he does whether good or bad will be highlighted a lot more.

not really a big deal. Blake sure can handle his own. There are some brilliance of Hakeem-like post moves or guard like ball skills by BG. However, he loses certain intentions at the post and remains without any counter move. This leaves him without a pivot foot and an awkward position which forces him to toss up a spinning lay up/hook shot or something harder than it should have been. Those habits can always be adjusted, IMO.

i didn't watch the video, but doc didn't rescue CP. CP rescued doc. people forget doc jumped boston's sinking ship to compete with CP, not the other way around.

How Doc Rivers Rescued CP3 By Fixing The Clippers Offense is the full title of the vid. If you watch the video you may see that you got the wrong end of the stick.

I watched the video twice, once before and once after reading the comments, and I really didn't think there was that much of anything that resembles a dig at Blake, imho. I think some of....
