If we don't go for Diop the only guy is Wilcox less desirable Gooden. Gamble is Diop now vs the possibility of a healthy Okafor who we can afford. The money is a big concern. I don't think we can get him.

I don't think it matters because I don't think he can't get paid more. Whatever contract he signs after buy out will just be a subtraction that his prior team won't have to pay.

In which case, he just picks his team and signs for the minimum. Might be wrong but I think this is how it works.

He picks between Miami or the Clips in this situation.

In which case, I hope he picks to play on the team with his former teammate and leader, CP3! Surprised

Wouldn't you want to see this over and over again

That video also reminds me how content (more than content, happy) I would be with Jason Smith as the Clippers primary backup big man (yea, he ran into Blake like it was football, but Barnes also said things before he became a Clipper).

Last two seasons per 36:

16.1 pts, 7.5 rebs, 1.7 blk, 50.5% FG, .541 TS%

Looking at his shooting breakdown:

10-15: 42.4% (12/13), 40.7% (11/12)

16-23: 49.7% (12/13), 46.7% (11/12)

Yea, a guy that can shoot 50% from long mid-range would be REALLY nice to have next to both Blake and DJ.

Honestly, that's the trade the Clippers should try and work cause he makes $2.5M. Of course Hornets have no other proven backup C, so it makes no sense for them to make the trade, and unless you're trading someone like Bullock, doesn't make sense for the Hornets to budge.

Okafor would be great. Could see him signing with the clipps for a min contract.

Meh, think we can do better if we remain patient and I certainly wouldn't trade Bullock for him:

Pass me the doobie. I think you're right. (Raise your Coke can bong if you remember Panama Red or Acapulco gold) A choice between us and Miami should be no choice. Miami is on the downswing.

Bottom line, there's a better chance than not we don't get him. What do we do right now? Now meaning the next two months.

Our distribution of players is good. Especially with Wayans gone we don't want to give up a guard. We have the right number of bigs but three have defense as porous as my last girlfriend's brain. We need one big strong body who can defend or at least not get outmuscled. With Barnes Willie, Collison and JC we need zero points. If our bigs get the Veg o matic treatment( that's sliced and diced for you youngsters) we cannot win.

Back to the injury. He has a herniated disc in his neck. I have one too but it healed 100% My back is another story. I had upper back spasms from a bad disc and it pulled my shoulder slightly out of joint. I thought I could do exercises that wouldn't involve my upper back or shoulders. Because I was restricting my movement so I'd protect those areas I threw out my lower back (I got a Total Gym It's amazing)

I won't give links because the articles are long. He hurt it in Sept

NBC Sports "not knowing if he'd play this year" "No idea when or if" "fearing later rather than sooner"

Washington Post "potentially several months, possibly the whole season"

Probably overstated but---

BTW

You may wonder why I did something as stupid my above exercise regimen rather that resting.

Guess what. I'm Clippers fan. That should answer it.

I highly recommend Total Gym. They have an 8 minute workout 6 days/week that you will stick to because it's short and although results are slower they will come.

yeah, I sometimes forget they played together. Paul may just be the recruiting tool we need.

Guys you're missing the point. If he can play, I'm so sure he'll sign here that I'd wear a Kobe jersey IN PUBLIC if he didn't. That is not the question. If he plays here we will be far and away the best team in the NBA.

The question as stated in the above press releases is if he will be able to play at all this year. If he can play when can he because his rehab is going slower that expected? Also will the injury hamper his play? If he's not better by trade deadline do we take him anyway had hope he's OK for the PO's? If we're a high seed rest him till the second round? Everybody said D12 played poorly because of his back. Maybe true maybe not.

If we are 100% sure he's back by Feb at 80% of previous ability and he'll be waived it's a no brainer

You can make a good argument that it doesn't matter where we're ranked. We'll have to play OKC or SAS anyway. If were #4 instead of #1 so what.

HOWEVER

If we wait till Jan and he can't play what then? Pickings are slim for alternatives. Do you want to make your PO hopes dependent on Mullens and Hollins? If we don't get him that's what may happen.

Yea, that was kind of my point that he would be nice, but for what New Orleans would ask (eg:Bullock) for he isn't worth it. I was taking his contract into account too. He makes $2.5M.

If they wanted Mullens and Green, which they wouldn't, then it's a no brainer based on cost and production.

I'd be game to get Okafor, why not? Be awhile before he heals up anyways, and I think our bench could use an above average defender like Okafor. Guys had a couple rough seasons recently but he's still a talented defender and if DJ got in trouble Okafor could play lengthy minutes.

I just tweeted Emeka telling him Clipper Nation would love him here. I'm definitely going to do my best to lure him here Smile
