@BA_Turner: The Clippers waived forward Lou Amundson after the game. Clippers roster now at 14 players.

Now with this done, where do the Clippers go? The only person on a non-guaranteed contract is Maalik Wayns with injury. Do the Clippers waive Maalik while he is injured?

@ArashMarkazi: If the Clippers can reap the benefits of being under the tax line by parting with Willie Green and Maalik Wayns, they'll probably pursue it.

The Clippers need a 3rd string point guard to run the team if CP or DC goes down with injury again! Now ,in my opinion, the waive of Lou comes as a surprise to me! I was for certain they would keep him after waiving Brandon Davies! Now you start to think, Does this waiving come after hearing the Emeka Okafor news and did that influence it in anyway? Probably! I think it would be a great move! And I believe Doc saw this preseason what needed to be done! When Emeka played against the Clippers he grabbed 15 & 12 rebounds and his season averages were 10 pts 9 rebs 1 blk! What a great rotation to have for a Championship run

PG - Chris Paul - Darren Collison - Maalik Wayns SG - JJ Redick - Jamal Crawford - Willie Green SF - Jared Dudley - Matt Barnes - Reggie Bullock PF - Blake Griffin - Antawn Jamison - Byron Mullens C - Deandre Jordan - Emeka Okafor - Ryan Hollins

Now you have reestablished that second unit threat! What do you think???

"Every season there are unexpected prizes that become available. For instance, the Phoenix Suns certainly didn't acquire Emeka Okafor this week because he fits their long term plans. If Okafor can overcome his neck injury and play this season, it seems likely that the Suns would negotiate a buy out with him, freeing him to sign with a contender. Would he be willing to take a minimum deal to be a back up with the Clippers? Maybe, maybe not, but the point is that other bigs will be available as the season wears on. If it's not Okafor, it will be somebody else. It doesn't mean that the Clippers will be in the right place at the right time to snag a big that becomes available, but solid rotation minutes on a team likely to advance far into the playoffs (while catching lobs from Chris Paul) could be a compelling offer to someone.

The Clippers also have a trade exception for $2.6M from the Eric Bledsoe deal. They could use most of that to acquire a player making less than $2.5M and still remain under the hard cap. Not that there are necessarily any players who make less then $2.5M who could help the team, but you never know. Or if a trade were to become available that could help the team, the extra room under the hard cap could prove important. In the end, saving a million on Amundson's salary might not seem like much, but with such a small margin of error, it could make a huge difference.

In the end, the Clippers decided that roster flexibility and just a bit more financial wiggle room were worth more than Amundson could provide. I agree. The worst case scenario is that nothing better comes along and they have to sign Amundson (or Jason Collins, or Lamar Odom -- there are always options) at some point. But Amundson's absence isn't going to make a significant impact in the regular season." - Per Steve Perrin Article http://www.clipsnation.com/2013/10/26/5032296/clippers-waive-amundson

I thought they weren't allowed to waive Wayns because he's injured.

Lou being waived must means we have our sights on another big, surely.

The only thing our team is missing is a defensive big for second unit. If we fill this need, and nab a guy like okafor, we will surely be in the top three to win the championship this year. I hope we make this happen.

Agreed, lets hope we can get the right man and therefore really limit Hollins and Mullens playing time.

I love you Lou, but this was great news to wake up to. Crazy though, I wanted us to sign him so bad this offseason & once I saw preseason I wanted to slap myself. Glad he was non-guaranteed, I hope this move turns into Emeka or at least Diop.

Kinda sad to see him go considering he had a couple of decent moments last night defensively. And watching him cheer for his Clipper teammates. But yeah, it seems like we must have our sights on something.

agreed. I'm not saying Lou was a good player but I could envision him as a physical player we could use to batter opposing bigs. the fact that we let him go indicated that something big is in the works. I don't think we waive Amundson for another journeyman

I'm in that same boat. He seemed a step slow to everything, making him a foul machine.

Seems like a nice guy, but he's essentially a unskilled "hustle" guy who fouls a lot. Not needed.

I like Lou a lot but he got into foul trouble way too easily and didn't really do much. Not surprised he was let go.I like the idea of getting Okafor if he is bought out but if not I would give Jeremy Tyler a shot.

Realistic, it'll be very tough to get Okafor so don't expect Clippers get Okafor based on cost wise and if he really want to win the championship. If not, I'll be down for sign Diop for defensive and rebound purpose. Is Haywood still in the team?

Okafor reminds me of the Igudala fantasy of a few years ago. It ain't gonna happen. Everybody overvalues playing for a contender. Some want money more. Some have other reasons. My favorite guy for the spot, Elton Brand could have been the piece that got us a ring. After his huge contract he doesn't need the $$$. He could have signed Vet's Min. He didn't he took $3 mill?? Maybe we didn't pursue him but if his an*s wrinkle manager had approached us with that deal it would have happened.

Okafor's health is not guaranteed. Lou stunk it up. As far as big plans because of the waiver, what options are left?. How about that fat Greek guy Soufle or whatever his name is. Twisted Evil. Are there any Euro guys out there?

Forgetting Igudala oops Okafor.

Diop last four years/36 min.10 Boards, 0.492 FG% , 4.9 ppg. IF WE CAN GET HIM he's our man. While Hollins is a better scorer Diop beats him in every other. thing. Hollins is listed as 230# Any good center should be 250. Diop is listed at 300. The cavalry may come to the rescue

Can he get more $ elsewhere?

Malcolm Thomas is still available for a cheap, young ,defensive big. Not much experience but has shown some flashes.

I still think Jamal Crawford for Spencer Hawes is the better idea if we're really serious about getting a surefire backup big.

Don't know where Celtics found this Vitor Faverani guy but I liked the little I saw of him.I was watching the Celtics play the Nets on ESPN and Faverani was hitting 3's,rebounding,and blocking shots. He seems like he is what we want Mullens to be.I haven't seen a lot of him so don't know how consistent his play is but he looked good in that game.Wish we can find a guy like him,but it's unlikely.

The Rockets will waive Marcus Camby (foot) on Monday. Camby is out indefinitely with a torn plantar fascia. Kevin McHale respects Camby and it's possible he'll join the coaching staff in a player development role, or be re-signed during the season once he's healthy enough to play. Interesting. Question is what are we going to give up and what do they want

Hawes $6,5 mill

Green $1.4 mil Jamal $5.2 Hollins $1,186 Mullens $940,000

Jamal, Hollins for Hawes? Are we comfortable with four guards?

Wilcox has 7.9 reb/ 36 min last yr. What's wrong with him? Is he injured?

he was cleared to play from the enlarged heart back in march 2012 but i may be mistaken he probably didn't find a team this year but yeah i'd rather take a shot at a free agent i think we can still get someone better for jamal
