I'd rather trade DJ and Crawford for Kevin Love than a Blake swap. Blake doesn't seem like a good fit for the Timbs

That would be dumb since we need a center.

I still say that guy who scored 47 against the Pacers 3 years ago is in there somewhere. When we got CP3 he changed his game. No doubt about it. It would be nice to have him back.

I like Blake's game, I think he shouldn't have wasted his summers focusing on shooting jumpers, but rather learn more post moves. I still like his post game, which when I see it, I'm pretty confident we're gonna score when he's in the post. I think he shouldn't shoot jumpers at all, that's why we have Dudley, and Reddick, I think he should focus on backing down in the post. Clearly he's not a natural born shooter.

He needs to develop a jumper. Otherwise players will just pack the paint against him.

I agree. Unfortunately, I don't think the coaching staff sees it that way. And I think Blake is caught somewhere in the middle mentally. He knew what his game was as a rookie and was hell bent to play it. He knows ever since getting Paul they want him to take jumpers.

There is a reason why he is improving his jumper. If teams don't respect his jump shot they will clog the lane.

That argument is nothing new. Having shooters around you can also do that.

Blakes problem is that his arms are too short.

Oh how I wish they were longer.

We are all having problems with the last two games. We were going to set the world on fire but the cat pissed on the match. I have been all over the map even saying maybe the LAL weren't that bad. Now that I've taken my Prozac and downed a few shots here goes.

BG is still a work in progress. Kaman is a better player because off his jumper. What would Brand or Malone have been without it. A few months will tell. DJ will be a beast. I've said this a million times and after I take another swig of brandy I'll say it again. DJ will have a shot or a hook by all star break. The first month means nothing. We will eviscerate LAL. Don't be upset if we lose tomorrow.

Per BBBreakdown BG has problems with fundamental footwork that he has over come by raw power.. We are talking like things are either - or. They should be and - both. His problems are obvious and if a problem is obvious so is the solution if you have the balls to do it.

1 The glitch in his FT shot

2 Basic footwork. This is not rocket science. can you old farts remember the "Hokey Pokey"? No David it's not a pe*nis joke. "You put your left foot in, you put your right foot in ..." Practice that with a 250 lb sand bag on your back and you'll have it

3 In the beginning of the season if you miss jumpers so f*cking what

4 Let him do more ball handling. Every time he dribbles, from my head to my testicles I scream "Blake you're not a guard!" What if he is? It's worth wasting a few games to find out.

Rhe main thing GET MEAN. I liked the flagrants. Nobody got hurt but is sent a message Ryan. Clock Zbo (I still love you Zack)

How long are Kevin Love's arms? Blake has a normal wingspan for his size. That shouldn't effect his rebounding. He can't get position to save his life. No boxing out at all. What is Kevin Love and Barkley's wingspan? Grear rebounderd that werent giants.

I can see how wingspan impacts defense.

According to this breakdown footage... he's constantly ready to sprint down the court for the fastbreak, instead of getting to the glass.

but isn't that what doc's preaching? sacrifice the offensive board and get back on defense?

Different situations we're talking about here. The problem is that Blake keeps on trying to get on the fast break when his team is on the defensive. Instead of securing the rebound, he's trying to prematurely leak out for an offensive play when the defensive play hasn't even been finished yet.

Here a thing about Blake rebounding. It shouldn't be all Blake and DJ. It's the whole freaken team. Our guard leak so much expecting our bigs get those defensive rebound. All Five need to get to the glass.

Do our guards really leak out? Paul stays around and grabs A LOT of rebounds for a 5'11 guy. Paul does not leak out. Crawford, sure, Redick, I haven't paid attention enough yet. Barnes is an excellent rebounder. Generally it looks like boxing out is the issue because it isn't opposing smells getting offensive rebounds, it was Kaman getting 4 and Jordan Hill getting 7 for example last game.

Thought Doc would stop all the leak outs. Blake really gets pushed around while trying to box out too.

I reckon we have some confused players on D cos the new systems aren't second nature yet.

No one really leaks on this team the issue is board dominance with Blake and DJ. The get the ball at all cost attitude that Blake had a as a rookie is missing .He doesn't throw his body around nearly as much as he used to .I'm not talking about pushing I'm talking about just raw physicality and athleticism that he used to display his rookie year.

Everyone can help on the glass sure but Blake should be determined to lead the league in rebounding because if he does everything else falls into place. If you look at the rebounding numbers league wide Blake should be ashamed of himself. Noah got 11 in 20 mins a player of Blake's caliber should NEVER get less than 10 .

On the evidence of our first game, DJ did just fine. Grabbed 11 boards himself, but on a couple of occasions I saw him box out Hill really well only for the rebound to bounce long to some other laker. It's going to have to be a whole team philosophy, but we particularly need more hustle from the 3 and 4 spots. Blake and Dud have to start fighting for them.

Looking for a huge scoring night from Blake. If nothing else just to cancel the scoring Lee will do.

"Rookie" Blake has got to show up. I think Dudley, needs a couple shots to go down just to get in that groove.

I loved DJ's intensity in the 3rd or 4th qtr. he had a sense of urgency and got on everyone's case. he had a solid game and is not be blamed for the late rotations due to the lazy defense from everyone else.

If Blake doesn't go for 25/10+ tonight while the team wins decisively... I don't know what will motivate this team after that horrific Lakers opener.

please let this happen. i can't hear more talk of how the warriors are superior to the clippers and how david lee DOESNT flop. although they did look really good last night which made us look even worse.

DJ has done a good job so far. Blake could do better. He is constantly looking for the fast break which is not a good thing in terms of helping us rebound the ball. Guard leak is hardly a problem. CP3 is a great rebounder for his size and position. I can't count how many times he has grabbed a defensive rebound and led a fastbreak. Crawford is not a good rebounder. Never has been. Redick is pretty mediocre in that aspect as well but its not due to a lack of effort. The problem stems more from our bigs. Our backup bigs are mediocre rebounders at best. BG could do better on the glass too. We know he is capable of being a 10-12 rpg guy.

The Lakers outrebounded the Clippers, 52-40, and had 18 offensive rebounds.

But Rivers doesn't think his team has a rebounding problem.

"We were just bad [Tuesday] night. I'm not going to overdo one thing," he said.

"In five games, if we're still struggling on rebounds, then we may have to do something. We may have to change our coverages on defense to get guys closer to the basket, or something. I just don't think that's going to be a problem."

When teams shoot 30 threes per game (lakers, gsw, etc...) Rebounding isn't all on Blake or DJ. There were a lot of long rebs tuesday night, our whole team needs to help secure rebounds.

This is easy, fire Doc, trade Blake, CP3 , DJ and Jamal.

Then we can go backwards and be the CLippers everyone here loved, the ones that could win up to 35 games a season. The ones that allowed me to sit all alone in my section because no one came to the games. I miss having all that room.

MY real reasoning,Blake had a different supporting cast then he did in year 1. His game is different as his team is different, guys with actual abilities. Plus perhaps he is doing what Doc is asking of him.

Beginning of last year everyone bitched because all Blake did was slam dunks and hogged the boards and never shot from the outside. Then he changed his game and started to shoot outside and play a different game (as many wanted) ,as he is being probably coached to do,and everyone wants him to go back to the original Blake. If he did you can bet if he messed up one game everyone would be wondering why he doesn't shoot from the outside.

PS: We need a poll as to when the Fire Doc thread starts.

Now I'm really starting to wonder l. Do Clipper players visit this site? I mean it's not impossible, just google Clippers and you can find this. If I were a player and I needed to get fans' opinion then I'll visit fan forums like this. Tell me who's Blake here pretending to be a regular member? Lol

He did great the last two games. I hope he can keep it up and average a double double this season.

Hopefully this means last season was an anomaly in terms of rebounding.

Do people know that Blake's career high is 18 rebounds which he's had twice? Last night was the 3rd best rebounding game of his career. He seems to be returning to his rookie roots last two games of going inside way more and crashing the glass.

I usually have a really good memory about that... surprised I forgot. Maybe it's because my memory is caught up on the dumb inbounds pass by Vinny's ex BF Ryan Gomes.

PF rarely leak out looking for lobs. That Is usually 2 guards and small forwards. If he stays in to rebound, he should be able to get more rebs.

He really has regressed the last two seasons. I hate how gets ripped on tv about not having a post up game. I have many Clippers games recorded from his rookie and second year, believe me he had a post up game. His second year he improved by adding the bank shot, mirror image of Duncan's game. After that the last two have been going down hill.

Now there's a timely addition to this thread.

What's with posting two shots at Blake when he was clearly one of the few who showed up in the game tonight? You know what, nevermind. I can already guess.
