I Would Gladly Have Lamar Odom over Mullens or Hollins

Lamar Odom can get back to how he was and even better in this new system and Doc being the coach. He would understand his role better and have a clearer understanding of what he needs to do. Lamar is someone who really is influenced by his emotions and mental psyche. I think Doc would help that aspect and work wonders for Lamar. Hollins is a foul machine and just makes the dumbest mistakes and can not even put up the ball with some power.

And Mullens has to be the dumbest player I've seen on defense in a while. He loses his man, looks confused, barely can box out, a step too slow, and just chucks up 3s.

If we had better bigs we would of won against the Lakers hands down and finished off the Kings with much more ease.

No, he needs to get his life together outside of the NBA.

I have been saying I like Lamar but understand we went for him , He Passed, We didn't and therefore we went out and Acquired Antawn Jamison but now we have a chance to acquire Emeka Okafor if Pheonix buys him out!

Until I hear that he has entered and completed an inpatient drug treatment program, NO. Not many people in the world are able to just up and quit smoking crack- doesn't work like that.

Lamar as he played last season is of course way way more desirable than Hollins or Mullens. But you have to be realistic about where he is at in his life right now. A guy in crisis with substance abuse issues is not what any team needs. The pressure cooker of the NBA is probably not what he needs either.

Not saying you're wrong but where did you hear this? Anybody would be crazy to talk to him even now. We're not sure he's clean. He's done weird stuff. He said LAL has approached him. I doubt it unless they want a Vet Min non guaranteed one year rental.

We should wait a month or so and re evaluate. If he wants to be a Laker he's still on drugs. He will get tons of love from Clip nation which will help a lot and LAL dropped a runny dump on him. Kobe wouldn't agree.

Give Mullens some time.

During the offseason when we told Antawn Jamison that Lamar was our first choice over him and then Lamar just like held everything up and passed on the resigning and said he wanted to be a Laker

You're confusing Doc Rivers with Doctor Phil. You do know "Doc" is just a nickname, right?

He is an NBA coach... not a social worker.

Well it isn't that we all wouldn't, it is that Odom isn't in the right mindset to be playing basketball. No one denies that Odom is a better basketball player than them.

The Clippers need to be looking at the D-League to see if there are options available. Someone like Greg Smith that Houston got from the D-League would be useful. Maybe even trade wise the Clippers could see if they can get one of Houston's backup big men.

Let be realistic. Our first choice was Lamar Odom coming back. Unfortunately, life get in the way and he did choose the Lakers instead of us. if Clippers have a chance, they would have pick him up, but unfortunate circumstances just derail this move.

^ Dude, judging by the self-portrait there, you need help... STAT!

If you're in Los Angeles, maybe you can book an appointment with Dr. Dre (but if you wanna f*ck with Dray-ee, don't pick the wrong muthafuckin' day-ee!)

If not, I hear that Dr. Pepper is available worldwide.

Don't think he ever wants to be a Clipper again. So I rather have players that want to be here. Team needed to explore Dleague bigs with size.

LATEST NEWS RECENT NEWS Emeka Okafor's herniated disk is "much more severe than initially anticipated," according to J. Michael of CSNWashington.com, and he "might be on the court again within three months." Okafor's indefinite timetable to return was....

This is great news indeed. The suns interest in developing the mentioned players leaves Okafor all but expendable for them. We won't be the only team interested in him though. I suspect that other teams in contention will also look for his services. I just hope that we can acquire him without having to deal away any critical pieces. By the time Okafor recovers it will be plenty of time to ease him back into playing shape and be a decent backup for the second unit. The second unit already has some very capable scorers it just doesn't have a good center to provide defense.

It's called $4million.

Okafor's worth $14mill and an expiring contract, He gets paid most of his salary by Phx as I understand. My big fault is believing people are logical.

He can go where he chooses. He can get a one year rental on a team and sign cheap so he doesn't screw the cap. Next year wherever he signs his eight figure salary will have to be taken into account and will screw their cap.His best chance at a ring is to sign with a contender because he may not have that opportunity again.

Miami, Indiana, Chicago, OKC, Spurs, Clipps did I forget one? Who is the best fit? And of course everybody wants to be a Laker. According to Stu Lantz's Faithful Idiot Companion who's name I forgot free agents are lining up to be Lakers Garnet is going to eat Jason Kidd alive.

He's crazy if he doesn't sign here but people do crazier things like being a fan long enough to remember Keith Kloss. I wish we had Pike,

For you newbies Eric Piatkowski Pike was our franchise player and a deadly three point shooter. He was our go to starting SF. Best on the team. He signed with another team for more money and rode the bench the rest of his career

That Is pretty bad when a guy who averages 10 pts a game is your franchise player and go to guy.

Back to topic

Brand = 4 Mil

Frye = 6 Mil

Emeka = Vet Min if bought out

Emeka is obvious first choice, cheapest and we retain all our assets.

Brand is next, 2nd cheapest, would have to part ways with Crawford or a Combo of Willie/Bullock/Mullens. Would prefer to keep Bullock here long term.

Frye gives us legit floor stretching for a Big, would have to give up Crawford or a package of contracts.

I think if we could get Frye it would have to have been done in the JJ-Bledsoe trade. They seem to be using Frye quite a bit.

They are playing him a lot to showcase to the league that he is healthy and to increase his trade value. The guy is hovering 30, so I don't think he is in their long term plans, unless they unexpectedly become a playoff team this season.

A guy like Spencer Haws might also be available if the sixers show they are not playoff calibre.

Agent0

Problem with those guys is that Frye makes $6.4M and Hawes $6.5M, just like the other guy I would love even more, Amir Johnson who makes $6.5M. Based on those teams rosters, Jamal isn't the guy they would want back as he would be more valued by better teams. So any trade bringing one of those guys in would have to be in some 3 team deal, and Mullens or someone would also have to go out to keep the Clippers salary in a good range.

Also it will require a bit of patience for teams to kind of settle into "okay we are going to suck" or "we can't really make the playoffs mode". Raptors for example are still a team looking to be decently successful.

To stretch the floor we have Jamison. We need a defensive anchor.

Ekpe Udoh is on my mind. Unfortunately, it means to drop Bullock.

we need to trade for a good backup big. Our reserves are trash. One guy I think might be available is Vitor Faverani from the C's who seem to be tanking. Dude is looking real nice and his contract is next to nothing. do we have any trade assets (picks or expirings) we can offer them?

We're not allowed to make any deals with Boston this year. We should've found him in the offseason.

On a side note, Mullens sucks but he's basically Andrea Bargnani, except Mullens wasn't a #1 pick & we're not paying him $11 mil a year, yet a lot of us last year wanted to trade DJ for Bargnani! We got his clone for the minimum instead basically.

Don't diss Bargnani like that. Granted, Mullens rebounds better than him.

Bargnani (healthy Toronto version) is a much better player though cause he can actually make shots more than once every 5 games. Mullens is still working on that part of his game.

We were close to getting him. I guess he choose DAL because he'd thought he'd get more mins. And maybe because it's closer to San Antonio where he probably lives.

Teams discriminate cause he doesn't have an ACL I think plus he's undersized. I would sign him but I think teams seem to make judgment on athleticism

Forget Lamar Odom. He's done in the league and he's surely done with the Clips. He embarrassed himself and if not for Doc's salesmanship with Antwan, we could have really been assed out when he backed out on us.

Okafor is the dream scenario. Money/cap is meaningless if they buy him out. And if we can get him, it's entirely possible we can keep him long term with the midlevel. He'll want to go to a contender, besides the fact that the Clips have the best character guys in the league, we're also the most visible (outside of Miami maybe) and most exciting team in the league. It would be tough to go somewhere else if we pursue him.

Assuming he actually wants to win, of the contenders we have the most guaranteed minutes available for PF/C and we have a PG who doesn't care about getting his own points. CP3 is thee best PG to play with on this planet if you're a big. Really it's only the Heat vs. Clips for his services if he has half a brain and I think he does (at least his agent does in any case.) Other contenders like S.A., OKC, GS, Mem, Pacers, Nets, etc. pretty much all have solid bench bigs. He'd have to compete for PT rather than getting 25 guaranteed minutes and also pass up moving to L.A. We'd have to be the hands down favorite out of the west if we add a talent like him off the bench and this would be obvious to all parties.

I still like Mullens, he showed some flashes against Houston and I think he'll be in our rotation in the PO's. The guy has a ton of potential and is still young. But even if Okafor doesn't work out, there will be teams trying to move guys once they get it figured out that they suck this year. There will be other opportunities especially if it's decided that Jamal is expendable. Unfortunately I don't think we can trade this year's first round pick until draft day but still, basically every guy on our team is a value contract, we have pieces to move if the opportunity arises.

I really want Odom back on the team but I understand that he needs to get his actual life together before he starts worrying about getting back up to speed with his NBA life. I wish him the best and hopefully he can be a late season pick up.

I think our bench can only go as far as Collison takes them and so far, he has been sub-par. We really look lost on offense when the starters are out. Speakingnof our starters, they've been championship calibre. Our benćh is the one that is killing us.
