64% is the leading FG % in the league right and it looks very good on paper until you realize it's DJ. Stats have no context until you put it in perspective. While 64% is great, it does very little when you realize how those points come and how impactful they are.

I think this started when the conversation shifted to why we traded EB. We lacked shooters to spread the floor. While EB is currently shooting 49%, putting him in as a SG was not going to solve the problem.

Actually CJ it's Drummond who's leading the league with that %, DJ's "only" 2nd @ .605%.Smile While DJ only attempts 6.5 shots per game, EB FGA's are 13.2 per game. Plus he's getting to the FT line 6 times a game and shooting 80%. Also like I mentioned before he's an above average rebounder for that position. To me that's a impactful package, no matter where the shots are coming from.

Add in how he plays on there other side of the ball and he's a very productive player...oh well we'll never know now if he could have solve the problem or not, but I would have preferred if we gave it a shot.

Que sera sera...

True, but we also did acknowledge that the team had more than one problem, and defense was an even bigger problem than shooting, but they probably also didn't think Odom would have his issues and Doc probably had good faith in his ability to make the team, and especially DJ and Blake high impact big men defenders.

With that thought, shooting becomes the need, as well as getting his Ray Allen. So it certainly made and still makes sense.

Of course, there was definitely more than one way to skin that cat, this was the way the team chose, and we'll see how it pans out. Hindsight is always 20/20, but I said many times that I did want the Bledsoe as 6th man / moving Jamal option with no disrespect to Jamal, just that they can't both get enough minutes together.

Weren't you jumping up and down when Bledsoe and Caron were traded? It was a stat guy's dream to have Dudley and Redick!

Dudley is such a bad playmaker. He has to shoot better from 3 too. 35% 3 point shooting is not getting it down because majority of his looks are wide open

It's tough to judge a trade considering the freak injuries. We know JJ has been great for us. A lot of folks were saying JJ may have been the best acquisition of the off season. However, I think Dudley's flaws would be a little less obvious if Matt Barnes were healthy. Matt would give Dudley more time to rest his knee. Maybe Dudley plays better overall. We know what Matt brings to the table.

The injuries have been tough so far...but when everyone is healthy I think we'll definitely see the benefits of the trade.

Symptoms of tendinitis - can't make an open shot - repeated gets beat by cherry pickets after shooting a 3 -shaky hand which affect dribbling -reduced bball IQ by poor passes Yup Dudley has tendinitis

If you use advance stats, you will see that Dudley isn't doing that bad. Every time he blinks 3 times before shooting, he shoots at a whopping 80%. I'm not worried about Dudley, he'll get it together in time

Good to see him acknowledging that he's sucked massively

If Doc Rivers told Dudley to go double team Lopez after he twisted his ankle, that's a dumb coaching decision. I highly doubt that was the coach's intention after Lopez twisted his ankle.

Honestly this is the best thing he's done for us this season, way to man up Jared. Drop some lb's, stay after practice to put up extra shots and you'll be the wing player we all remember in no time.

I kind of think the clippers lost in the bledsoe trade. I really like eric bledsoe and I truly believe the clippers would be a better team at this very moment if they still had bled. I'm not a fan of trading defense for offense, and the clippers maimed their defense by trading bledsoe.

Back to the OP though, i'm not a big dudley fan. He's not big enough or athletic enough to be apart of a contending lineup. I'd like to see the clippers create a deal that involves brandon bass and jared dudley. Bass might be on the market and would behoove the clippers to try and acquire him IMO.

All he should really do is stand by the 3 pt line on offense and be the first guy back on defense. That's his role.. if he can focus and doing that, and do it well, the clipps might be alright.

There's no way the clippers got the better end of the trade.

Answer me this, when the playoffs come around and the clipps are playing the thunder, who do you want guarding westbrook? Bledsoe or Redick? It's a no brainer IMO.

Of course Bledsoe for this season. But who would you rather have next season guarding Westbrook. Redick? Or Nobody? Because we wouldn't be able to re-sign Bledsoe.

We had to trade Bledsoe no matter what, the fact that we got Redick for 3 more years should be good enough. He's a top 10 SG when healthy on this team.

I loved the trade and I'd love it even more if Dudley could get going.

i suppose we just disagree then. Personally, I would rather have eric bledsoe on the team for 9 million a year vs dudley/redick for 10 million.

I really just don't understand why the clippers were so eager to deal bledsoe. What was wrong with keeping him?

Bled was going to get more than $9 mil from another team, I wouldn't be surprised if PHX offered him a $14 mil contract. Also, Bled wanted to run the Point for his own team.

It was most likely a mutual agreement to send him to PHX. I really doubt Bled wanted to start at SG for the next 5 years for us.

how about ignoring the position titles, and instead have a back court consisting of eric bledsoe and chris paul.

If a championship is the supposed goal, then the clippers should have been trying to keep bledsoe and let doc rivers coach him up.

I could have told you that 6 months ago. Stat boys were ready to hang me back then since the loved the trade so much. Anybody with a set of eyes should have seen that it was a terrible trade. Bledsoe and Caron's expiring contract were our biggest trade asset and we basically gave the bucks cap relief and gift wrapped a stud like Bledsoe to Phoenix.

It's a classic $1 for $.50 trade.

the only positive about the trade is that bledsoe is on my salary cap league team, so at least i have that emotional hedge. Embarassed

Jarca's ALWAYS been against getting Redick for some reason. To answer his assertion: Anyone who has eyes sees that JJ has paid instant dividends both on offense and defense. Ignoring that Redick was averaging 16 points a game, his style fit perfectly for Paul and Blake. Honestly, I don't think it's a coincidence Paul and Blake were playing their best basketball with JJ in the lineup. Not saying it's because he's just that awesome. But because his particular style is suited perfectly for this particular team.

Now he's injured and not having him makes a huge difference. I dare say, losing Bledsoe wouldn't have had as much impact as losing Redick has.
