^^^ I don't know why you are surprised at CJ questioning the Dudley to ray Allen comparison. How has his career warranted that comparison? even though he shoots 40% for his career he makes makes 1.0 3pt shots per game on average for his career. Or if you want to say he was never a real 3pt shooter until Phoenix even since then he is only averaging 1.3 makes per game which isn't even top 50 over the last 5 years. Sorry but that is not an elite 3 point shooter so it seems unreasonable to compare....

It's frustrating was just looking at his stats and Jared Dudley has only scored in double figures in 13 of our 31 games so far this season. He actually has more games of 1 or less rebounds than he does double figure scoring efforts. Yikes

Its drastic fluctuation for sure. I think if he at least was a good rebounder or passer the erratic scoring wouldn't be a bad thing, but when he doesn't score we aren't left with much. I was furious with him after last nights game 0 points. Especially since he made me start to believe in him

Unfortunately it feels like we will all be stuck on the emotional roller coaster with him. Hopefully he plays well in the games where others aren't and makes up for his bad play in other games but who knows.

I've officially written him off. I hope we can offload him this season and if not during summer. Batum, parsons, Leonard, durant, iguodala, Dudley. Who doesn't belong on this list?

I'm still holding out hope that he'll become more consistent once JJ gets back. He'll probably be open more, etc. Hoping...

I am still holding out hope that his inconsistency is tied to injuries and that he will be better once he gets healthy.

^ Just hoping! Considering his history, it's not too much to ask or certainly hope he be more consistent.

Honestly I am fed up with his play at this point. If he is still dealing with injuries I hope we bench him when Redick comes back and let him heal to 100%. The last thing we need is a gimpy Dudley near playoff time....

I don't know who thought given the caliber of small forwards in the western conference that duds was an excellent choice. I like reggie, but I kind if wish we drafted a more athletic wing that maybe needed some time to develop, chandler parsons was a second rounder!

Aminu might actually be a good fit for this clippers. The guy can grab boards and can actually play defense.

That occurred to me during the Nola game, and id for sure take him over Dudley. But he really can't shoot.

I still think we groom Reggie for the SF spot. I don't mind the lack of athleticism. He's already a solid defender that will probably get better. A decent rebounder. Once he finally settles in on offense, he'll be terrific.

It's the most loaded position in the conference in my opinion. Can bullock match up with Durant and iggy?

Well, not now, but in the future maybe. For now, we have options with Dudley, Barnes and lets face it, our 3 guard lineup of Paul, JJ and Crawford is pretty explosive.

Nah that would be the PG position by far.

CP3

WB

Curry

Parker

Lillard

Lawson

Bledsoe

Dragic

Conley

Isaiah Thomas

Calderon

Lin

Rubio

I am sure I am missing some others. The PG position is so deep and talented. I have been really impressed by CP3's defense this season. He has held most PGs he has faced under their averages. Its his best season defensively as a Clipper and since 08.

He is not a starting 3 for a team with championship aspirations. I feel like we could have done way better with Our assets to upgrade at the 3. I feel like we are worse from deep

That occurred to me during the off-season when I kept saying we should sign him as a long defensive SF who can play a SF/PF role. So he would be off the bench as a backup SF and Blake's backup.

Though I also felt he should get the Blake treatment in terms of Thate and work on his corner 3PT shot. He could be a nice 3/D SF and 3/D stretch 4.

He has a higher ceiling than Dudley. All he has to do is play solid defense.

Reggie was so much potential. To whoever said Bullock could be more athletic, that is true, but it really doesn't matter in the bigger picture. Look at manu ginobli, danny green, etc. players like that who come in, do their job and do a great job at that without really being really athletic.

Bullock can play defense, he has great size, he's young so it'd be good to build him now as a starter, he is wet from deep, is a guy who Doc likes, and can rebound. He can do it all! He can be a great starting 3 for years to come if he is developed into a beast!

I say start Bullock from now, Kobe was starting his first or second year no? haha. I think Bullock can get the confidence and system down if he starts from now to the playoffs, he will be ready to come in and just hit shots and defend. Most of our scoring will come from Blake, CP3, Redick, and Crawford. We just need bullock to play that great defense and knock down a grip load of 3s

Danny Green and Manu Ginobili are athletic players, well, Manu was athletic when he was a younger man, very athletic. Reggie has enough athletic ability, look at freaking Shane Battier. You don't need to be jumping out of the gym and dunking on people to be athletic, and people tend to overrate the defensive capabilities of someone because their are athletic.

Loo at Klay Thompson, he isn't super athletic, but he's taking primary defensive matchups even above Iguodala because GS, or at least Mark Jackson seems to believe in his man to man defensive abilities. I believe they had him in Kyrie also in their game vs Cleveland like they do with Paul when playing the Clips.

Kobe didn't start until his 3rd season, played 15.5 minutes his first year, so not the best example, lol. I don't think he needs to start, but it would be nice for him to get 12-15 MPG.

I think they need to run the first few plays of the game for Dudley, kinda like they did for DJ last year. Just to get him engaged in the game.

Also, I think when Bullock comes back he needs to start and have Dudley sit out until he is healthy.

He has 8 points in the last 3 games. That is not enough. We won't even make it to the WCF with him playing like that.

I honestly think he can't take the pressure of playing for a contender anymore after playing on bad teams for such a chunk of time (and yes I know he had a couple good years with Nash). I don't see how he can be uncomfortable in this offense he gets nothing but wide open shots. He's always dribbling for no reason.

Oh man that is just embarrassing. He should want to move on from last nights game and never remind any fans of it. One of the worst clipps games I have seen. And I went to the 40 point loss to the thunder 5 years ago

"athleicism" as we today define it is as relevant as dunks. Age and treachery will defeat youth and athleticism any day. Does anybody remember the story about the young bull and the old bull?

Duncan considered by most the best PF ever is not "athletic" at all. He's technically a master. Zbo isn't athletic but he was a monster. I would take Timmy's non athleticism any day.

Wilt, unarguably the best athlete ever to play wouldn't look "athletic" today. Both he and Russell learned to control their bodies in track and field. "athleicism" fades but technique only improves.

I guess I'm saying this because I used to be "athletic" once

the benefit of having so many wings Smile Dudley's woes are not as big of a detriment when we can insert Bullock or Barnes. Thank god for this years draft and the resigning of Barnes

Last season was a great year for him, but aside from the 08-09 year in Phoenix Barnes has had a difficult time finding minutes or just matching that sort of production consistently. Given his history we shouldn't have really expected this season to be on par with last year or the 08-09 phoenix year. That being said 6.8 PPG, 1.6 APG, 3.8 RPG, and a PER of 11.40 in about 20.3 minutes per game is solid production this year. I think if he was given 25.7 minutes he was given last year he could possibly average those numbers, or close to it.

To give you a comparison Jared Dudley is averaging 8.6 PPG, 1.5 APG, 2.1 RPG and 8.53 PER all in 28.9 minutes per game. So I think Barnes is still a solid player. Plus raw stats aside even PER 36 comparisons suggest Barnes is producing better than Dudley

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable holiday season thus far and Happy New Year to all.

Pleasantries aside, I'm really bummed to see the level at which some are trashing Dud's. You don't put a new coach in with many new & young players and get a payoff overnight. Put it this way, I can't remember the last time (oh yeah Indiana in LA last year) I turned off a Clipper game early like I did the Suns game. I was utterly disgusted. Bottom line, Clippers are still struggling to get up against what they consider to be less than elite teams. That Is what has me so perplexed with all the trashing of Dud's. I certainly can recall us being like the Suns not to long ago, not many big names but we were able to get wins against elite teams as a result of playing hard.

I think everyone needs to take a big deep breath and trust that Doc will whip these guys into shape. If we are losing games in this fashion in April then I will come back on and admit that I was completely wrong and eat crow pie. Until then, I think for the benefit of everyone we continue to trust in Doc's system and ability to get this team to the next level.

jerdog, thanks for the New Year pleasantry:)

I can understand the premise of a new coach and system being in place. This would affect the chemistry to an extent. But Jered's situation is simply more than just him getting used to a new system. Immediately after he got criticized for his abysmal start to the season he took accountability for his bad play. He didn't use the tendonitis card and simply owned the fact that he was playing badly. What followed next was Jered playing five straight games of amazing basketball. Now, it seems like he's back to his mediocre play.

Compare that to another new guy that came in, Redick, who has been much more consistent than Jared. I doubt this was any easier for Redick, who hasn't played with these guys either. If anything Dudley has less of an excuse for playing badly in this "new" system with the Clippers since Alvin Gentry was brought over from Phoenix. I may be wrong but aren't Dudley and Gentry somewhat familiar with each other? He had a bigger advantage coming here than Redick did, but yet Redick has been a consistent scorer while Dudley has been the exact opposite.

I seem to be in the minority here, but In my opinion Dudley's criticism is completely valid, and he deserves the amount of scrutiny he has been given. I like your positive outlook, and I will root for Dudley at the games, but it's not as easy as painting Jered as an innocent player that is being unfairly targeted by the fan base

20 points, 5 assists, and a rebound for Dudley today. As long as he's able to put in that sort of game every now and then without being a total detriment to the team in other areas, I'm fine with having him for now.

I'm not getting my hopes up. He's had big games before only to regress and be an anvil. Glad he had a good game but until he puts together a month of solid play and hits shots on the road I will remain skeptical.

He is a heartbreaker. It's nearly guaranteed he has a game under 6 points in the next three game maybe even two games like that.

Great game from him tonight, can only hope he plays consistently well.

Seems like its the norm for all of our role players to be inconsistent as hell lately. Crawford was chucking way too many 3s this game and has been pretty bad lately.
