You Know!, It sucks that this will be the topic tomorrow, but in a week, nobody will remember, "Move" "On".

I hope Mat Barnes Does stop sticking up for his team mates, because it doesn't really help.

PS

It's pretty silly that I have to use an asterisk or say "N word". It's use is comical especially when many African Americans can buy bigots retail and sell them wholesale and not miss the cash. I've gotten to the point that I laugh or say "Of course I am"

Sometimes I wonder do people have any sense of humor.

I hate to bring race into it, but maybe it's a black thing.

This is how we joke around. It was clearly a joke. Again

you have to read between the lines.

You really think he is sweating a 15k fine? ITS A JOKE. THIS IS HOW BROTHERS JOKE.

Pretty sure if it wasn't a straight up joke it wasn't meant to be taken toward the team in disrespect.

15k is quite a bit of money, but I'm pretty sure it's a joke. I think Blake will pitch in on the fine.

Despite what everyone thinks the shove on Ibaka was necessary. Ibaka unnecessarily pushed off Griffin. For years other players have chocked, shoved, and dished out dirty shots to Griffin and due to his calm demeanor he never retaliates. The problem with this is that players look at Griffin as a pushover. The minute you are perceived as weak you already are. Matt sent the message that people aren't going to get away with it. My thoughts on the tweet was that he was joking about not sticking up his teammates.

I agree.

But I would also say that Matt should have kept his mouth shut really and that he fell a foul of the modern age. In that in the past he may of joked/b*tched about it with his friends but with twitter and other social media it now gets put in print for everyone to see. When will people learn (never probably).

I think @ClipperSean hit the nail on the head, just my opinion. Most of us can agree that Matt did this while still very upset about the whole incident. I think he also feels that when Ibaka came back at Matt, Blake should have been a bit more assertive in having Matt's back. It could have been an ejection for both of them, we could have lost the game; but it could have sent a much larger message throughout the league.

We won the game, but everybody now would say "yeah, Clippers beat OKC but only because Ibaka got thrown out". Where on the other hand, we could have lost; but Blake could have gone hard at Ibaka when Ibaka clinched a fist for Matt. All I am saying is another good two handed shove by Blake in defense of Matt could have sent a better message throughout the league. Which would could have sent the message that I'll take this $hit from you guys all day, but mess with my teammates and I'll get at you too. I personally would have preferred the latter.

As far as the tweet from Matt, I will only care if it affects their chemistry. People say stupid stuff when they are mad all the time, Twitter just puts it out there for the world to see. Will it be misconstrued by the media, most likely yes, but if the team can look right past it then who cares.

I'd really like Blake to just step up once at least for his teammates. A suspension at this time in the season could be handled, plus we really need to figure out what we can do with our back up bigs anyways.

LOL! What did you want Blake to do exactly? He was going after Ibaka the way pro's usually do, pushing off another OKC player to get to Ibaka. He even starting pushing at Ibaka. The only way BG could have been more assertive is to flat out punch the guy. Barnes should have left well enough alone. It's quite possible BG would have at least gotten in Ibaka's face without Barnes' help.

Don't be blaming Blake for this one. There'll be plenty of Skip Baylesses of the world that will do that.

If you want to blame BG, blame him for pinning Ibaka's arm in the first place. What I love about BG is despite the fact Ibaka attacked his junk last season, Blake still does't mind getting under Ibaka's skin. Nothing "soft" about that.

Yeah, I wanted to Blake to go harder at Ibaka but you could well be right that Barnes kinda got in his way. But I also wanted the W so it was great that Blake wasn't ejected and Ibaka was. Maybe Matt should of left it alone but I appreciate his intention. Ibaka shouldn't be able to get away with that nasty cheap shot last season and Matt is making that statement loud and clear.

By the way, I watched the Blake highlights again. There's a beautiful spin move from BG in the paint right on Ibaka at the 1:31 mark. If you look closely, it totally looks like he elbows Ibaka in the face.

Fair mined and honest assessment of Matt's dumb move by Steve Perrin. Not only is this going to cost him money, but a suspension as well most likely.

This is who Matt is. A guy who will re-act 1st, before thinking it though. A guy who his teammates love, the opponents hate and same with the fans. The good with the bad.

If Barnes gets fine by the league like 100k like Kobe then I hope Doc, BG, DJ, and CP the highest paid Clippers to all chip in. What was Doc motto in Boston. Umbuntu? Meaning unity

How do you know all this stuff? This is the problem in my opinion. Were you next to matt in the locker room? How do you know he was upset and wanted blake to do more?

None of this stuff is remotely true.

Part of the reason the Clips pay Matt is for that side of him (toughness, sticking up for teammates). Whether he was joking or not, just had adrenaline running etc., hat is who he is and he needs to embrace it.

Obviously nobody knows for sure, it is our opinion. Honestly I felt like Matt would be pissed off about it right after it happened, before he even tweeted that. Maybe its because that is how I think too. But people like you may not have that type of mind set at all and therefore are incapable of relating to such feelings. Doesn't make anyone right or wrong, we are just here expressing our opinions. Its what forums are for.

Sad part is, the league will come down hardest on him for using the n-word, even though race played absolutely no part in this incident... he was just using slang. I mean, does anybody really believe he meant: "I'm done standing up for my black teammates, but JJ, I still got your back"?

To quote Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart's opinion in the 1964 obscenity case, Jacobellis vs. Ohio - "Hard-core pornography is hard to define, but I know it when I see it". The same is true of racism and use of the n-word. The word used to be indisputably racist and derogatory - and still can be - but it has also been appropriated by hip-hop culture for many other uses.

Matt also called Ibaka a b!tch several times, but I very much doubt the league will cite misogyny or sexism as one of his transgressions. People need to get off the sensitivity about the word itself and start looking at context.

Glad he apologized. I believe he is sincere. My biggest issues were that word and the fact that he stole the attention away from his teammates. Glad he addressed that.

You are right @ClipperPostman, I think this is how he felt and might be right or wrong. I doubt he sent this tweet because he was being level headed and had calmed down, and didn't feel like he was standing up for his teammates. I feel like I have a similar personality to Matt and that is why I translated his tweet the way I did.

As far as me wanting Blake to be more assertive in the situation would have been a nice two handed shove. DJ did it for himself and we applaud him, I would like to see Blake do the same when Ibaka was going at Matt. It's one thing to let Ibaka go at you and you shrug it off because it's not bothering you; but when anyone comes at your teammates you should get a little more worked up. This is just my opinion, it's not the playoffs we can afford a short lived suspension.

When I was in the Marines playing football on Camp Pendleton I tried going at a linemen messing with one of my teammates. The opposite Marine happened to be the Camp Pendleton Bench Press champion, but once he went at my teammate I had to go back at him.

Oh and just so we don't get it twisted, I like Blake's game. I can definitely respect that he keeps his cool when people go at him, and like that he wants his game to do the talking. Just felt that Ibaka wanted to go at Matt after the shove, and that I feel that in itself deserves a little more aggressiveness than I saw. Let everyone know that they can't mess with your teammates.

I bet if Blake would have gone just a bit harder at Ibaka afterwards; Matt would have felt a lot better about the situation. Those are just my two cents.

Wow- I thought he was just joking being sarcastic. Maybe he was, but he went too far with his words, and so was forced to do the apology. A non-issue after this point, hopefully.

We like it when teammates retaliate/stick up for each other, unfortunately with the new rules (not like the good ole days, lol) we can't complain about the punishment when you have a good idea what the consequences will end up being.

He'll get the fine plus the suspension IMO. The former hurts him in the pocket book and the latter hurts the TEAM.

Some things said should be taken at face value. His tweet was one of them. His apology tour tweets prove he was serious all along and not joking or being sarcastic, just like I was arguing. I'm glad he apologized so now we can move on.

People are over reacting to that tweet.

I remember last year he tweeted something about all those technicals he was receiving were getting expensive.

Matt will always stand up for his teammates.

I wouldn't be surprised if the front office or Doc made him tweet an apology.

We beat them without Ibaka. They beat us without Barnes. Blake couldn't have gotten thrown out. There goes the game. Next game Hollins clocks Ibaka, Durant or Westbrook. I like Westbrook. Hurt our star, we hurt yours.

"NEW YORK -- Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes has been fined $25,000 for failing to leave the court in a timely manner upon his ejection and using inappropriate language on his Twitter account during the game following his ejection, in violation of NBA rules, it was announced Thursday by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations.

The ejection occurred with 6.2 seconds remaining in the second quarter of the Clippers' 111-103 victory over the Thunder on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Staples Center."

no offense, but blake didn't tell Barnes to shove Ibaka. i have no idea why barnes was saying he was tired of sticking up for his teammates. once ibaka tangled up with blake, it took barnes a split second to push ibaka. its not like blake was punched by ibaka and then 10 seconds passed. so no, blake has no business paying barnes' fine. blake's a big boy that can take care of himself, he's just smart enough to not go to that level of fighting.

i effing love matt barnes. i love his game, i love his passion, i love his stand his ground and not take ****. it doesn't bother me that he shoved ibaka, i loved it. it doesn't bother me that he'll get suspended. from the view of an outsider, i didn't see the shove as a form of protecting blake. i saw it as barnes reacting to ibaka being a dirty punk.

for the record, i also like blake being REAL and saying toughness isn't about throwing the first punch and acting like a thug on the court. its about mental toughness, not letting another's cheap shots take you off your game. effing brilliant, blake. big ups. I have been saying it for years. blake doesn't need to toughen up, this isn't rucker park or the octogon, its effing basketball. blake already plays physically and that's not debatable. now his mental toughness is getting the spotlight.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that the first thing he did back in that locker room was call his wife. She gave him grief about his temper costing them money... "That Blake Griffin can afford suspensions and fines, but you're 33 years old and you got kids to think about... you need to grow up!".

Then came the tweet.

Any married guy here going to disagree with me?

I was thinking more along the lines of:

BG: "Thanks for the back up Matt! Let me take care of that fine for you but next time, I'll take care of my business!"
