Odom was our best defender last season. Mullens can barely guard a garbage can and is rather useless offensively since he isn't even good at making wide open shots. He is better offensively(Odom is garbage, Mullens is a bit better than garbage) sure but his defense is so bad that you don't want to play him for long anyway.

That is the main reason he is more of a 3rd string big than a 2nd string big. He has a hard time playing defense without committing a stupid foul.

Hollins is perfect as a 3rd stringer, that's why we need someone like LO so Hollins can be helpful in his very limited mins and not play in the PO's.

Never seen so many fouls in my life.... I also said the same statement in the playoffs last season!

Mullens is starting to come around! Signing Lamar would work well for Mullens

I don't know why but I think Antawn Jamison would guard Z-Bo a lot better right now! I don't know why it just seems like he would

Clippers' 4 top starters have a D Rating of 99.2 when on the floor together (would be NBA's No. 7 defense.). The bench units are atrocious.

We need a better bench defender... Bad.

Looks like it could became a reality soon. Some players comments regarding the return of Lamar to the team: http://www.clipsnation.com/2013/11/19/5123392/report-clippers-players- excited-for-lamar-odoms-potential-return

^Sweet. Odom should help us a lot defensively and if Dudley gets healthy that should help a bit too on both ends.

Not sure what the hold up is. Perhaps Lamar is considering an offer from the Raptors.

Apparently, you can smoke crack in Toronto and still keep your job as Mayor.

I was reading that Odom is still a month or so away, and would likely join a team in the 2nd half of the season. Odom isn't God people so if he goes elsewhere he goes elsewhere. It's not like it's Bruce Bowen out there who we all know could play stellar D. Odom could probably help, but the last 2 years of his have been trash and I won't be sold on him until he actually plays again ( if he plays again ).

I'd still like this team to hold off and wait it out. Emeka Okafor is likely going to get bought out by Phoenix at some point and I wouldn't put it past our front office if he does, to make a strong play to acquire him. He'd be terrific to help DJ and Blake and would be an anchor on the bench for our team.

This is true, but I think we also do have to take into account that Randolph was coming off an MCL injury in 11-12 and that Rudy Gay also was a good help in beating Memphis. If they had played a similar style of prioritizing Randolph and Gasol with a lot of pick and roll action with Conley and Rudy was defending and shooting spot up, and only creating as a last option, it would have been harder to beat them.

...and that series already went to 7 games.

I think the main thing against those guys is keep them off the FT line and defensive strategy.

1) Front Randolph 2) Sit on Randolph's left hand and make him attack right 3) When Randolph attacks, bring defenders at him, he's actually not that good a passer and he can get tunnel vision. He needs to be double teamed when he attacks, especially with weak/mediocre outside shooters like Allen and Tayshaun 3) Pressure Gasol when he's at the high post to take away the high low feed and to limit his passing angles 4) Don't reach and hack 5) Always run the pick and roll with the man that Randolph is guarding, not with Gasol's man, it's so much easier

The Clippers issues with this team are that they stay behind Randolph, they don't force him right, the double doesn't come as soon as he puts the ball on the floor. Then they play off Gasol when he's far away from the basket and give him too many options. Yes he can put the ball on the floor if you get too close, but really that's fine as long as you don't foul, you're better off taking away the passing angles and high low feeds because Marc isn't generally going to beat you on just his individual scoring.

My ideas on how to play them are based on how the Spurs played them last playoffs and had Randolph shoot 30% and Gasol 39.7%.

Yeah, that was one of the great soundbites in political history:

"She said I wanted to eat her p*ssy! I never said that. I would NEVER say that! I'm a happily married man... I've got plenty to eat at home."

The man is a legend.

Let Brown heal up then bring him in no drama and we get the big body defender we need. Wait again and see if any PF's fall to us later.

With Lamar don't need oft injured Kwame. I'm sure he'll get injured while pulling on his uni if the Clippers dare sign him, lol. He's played in a total of 31 games the last 2 years.

its true, problem is just that "when he's not fouling" never happens

Kwame has been waived like I mentioned in the other thread. He's a big body, decent rebounder, man to man defender in the post. Question is what level is he at these days.

Thats the scare, but then I suppose you could just waive him. When do 10 days become active?

Lamar Odom is desperately trying to get his career back on track after losing his job in August amid allegations of drug use and a DUI arrest. To do that, he's leaving his life and wife Khloe Kardashian behind in Los Angeles, and returning back to where it all began: his ALMA mater, the University of Rhode Island. Only RadarOnline.com has all the details of how he's trying to save his NBA career before it's too late.

After meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers on November 15 about possibly re-signing with the team, Odom was spotted on a flight to Providence, Rhode Island, just two days later. In hand, he carried the self-help book As A Man Thinketh, which encourages people to take responsibility for the problems in their lives.

By throwing himself into a new training routine, Odom appears to be doing just that.

The next day, he worked out with elite NBA trainer Rob McClanaghan, according to a tweet by Providence Journal sports writer Kevin McNamara, which was then verified by Yahoo Sports.

McClanaghan has "been fortunate enough to have trained hundreds of players all over the world," he writes on his website, including NBA MVP Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls. At the center of his training philosophy, he says, is a focus on healthy living - something that rumored drug user Odom could certainly use more of.

"Training on the court is a big part of being great, but it takes a lot more than that," McClanaghan explained in a recent post. "You have to be training off the court as well. Lifting, eating right, proper sleep, and a healthy overall lifestyle leads to playing good on the court."

Sources close to Odom say he's already made great progress to that end. One told Sports Illustrated that he already "looks very good" physically during drills with McClanaghan. "Not ready to play yet, but getting there quickly," said the source.

And he certainly looked happier than he has in months when he posed with fans outside of the gym after his first workout with McClanaghan:

RT @AlexContrino: Lamar Odom chillin at URI #WelcomeBack 2:13 PM - 18 Nov 2013

In a sign he's truly getting back to basics, he was even spotted stopping by the on-campus Emporium dining hall on November 19, Radar has exclusively learned, before grabbing a post-workout lunch at Simply Thai in Kingston Rhode Island.

Through it all, one person has been conspicuously absent: his estranged wife Kardashian, who has been traveling the world on a promotional tour for the Kardashian Kollection clothing line.

Though the troubled pair had reportedly been in relationship counseling in recent weeks, it appears that now they are farther apart than ever as Odom focuses on his job. Some have blamed his career troubles on his wife and her family. His own father, Joe Odom, recently said "The Kardashians are to blame for all of my son's problems."
