I love the few minutes Bullock played for is tonight. He played good D and his 2 3's are a small sample as what to come from the rookie. Good job on the win Clips, CP3 finally finding his groove.

So I missed the whole game because I was at work. But it looks like Paul found his shot in the 4th. Razz

Big kudos for Paul doing his thing, including the 11 assists, 6 rebounds, 4 steals...MVP style numbers!

Looks like Blake had another solid game. 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals.

Looks like JJ had another bad shooting night, yet also had 4 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal, so I like it when a player is able to do other things if the shot's not falling.

Crawford seemed to have a good game.

12 boards for DJ, no doubt needed every one of those against this team.

19 turnovers by us is too high.

I love that they shot 37.8%...that's awesome. However I see Kevin Martin picked up where he left off last time. Have I mentioned I hate that guy?

I'll have to read the posts in this thread by you guys to get a real sense of the game.

I got stuck at work and wasn't able to watch the game, so I had to watch the game cast on espn, bleh... A few things I took away from this game:

  1. Blake is still, imho, our rock. He is shaping up to be a 20/10 palyer again, and I LOVE IT.

  2. Chris just needs to hit a jumper in order to hit more jumpers.

  3. As DJ goes, the team goes. His defense has jumped by leaps and bounds. He is averaging like 13 rebounds a game, AWESOME!

  4. Doc's system of trusting the starters and a few bench guys is more affective than Vinny's system of throwing the kitchen sink at every opponent.

  5. Our bigs played awesome D. There was a point during the game where KLove was 2-14 from the field. I understand some of that could be him just being cold, but damn, that is awesome.

The TWolves are a scary team, and we have beat them twice already. Same with Houston. On any given night, these teams could beat any team n the league and I am very pleased with what I have seen us do against them.

Btw, how bad is the elbow? I was just reading the thread now. Is it basically the same thing he had last year? I swear he needs to continue to wear that sleeve he wore last season!

I am from Minnesota and was at the game tonight. Clips looked bad except for some good long range shooting. But they did keep ball from getting to Kevin Love.

CP3 won it for us. We would not have held on without him. I know this is old news....but Clip really need a defensive identity. Bledsoe raised all kinds of havoc. We should have kept Bledsoe and paid the one more year on Caron Butler and passed on Reddick and DUDley. Dudley does zero expect shoot. Reddick as least tries to guard guys but a streaky shooter.

They did some video during breaks of people wearing Clipper jerseys and video accusing the people of being "used to be laker" fans. Probably true in some cases. Years ago you would see about 10 clipper jersey at game. Now you see a fair amount of Clipper jersey.

Thanks for posting and nice job supporting the clipps out there!

I agree that we are missing bledsoe quite a bit and his d is something everyone seems to forget.

JJ is one of the most consistent shooters in the league. Historically, he doesn't qualify as a "streaky" shooter. He's actually been pretty consistent for the most part and will only be more consistent as the season goes on. Is he going to have some cold nights? Absolutely. Such is the life of a shooter. But it's not like he's John Starks (classic Knick reference). And you'd have been hard pressed to find a better shooter available in the off season. And I like the other things JJ brings to the table. Maybe I'm going out on a limb here but I'm going on record to say I think JJ brings more to the Clippers than Caron did. And Bledsoe deserves to be a starting PG in this league...not a non-shooting SG for us!

JJ is like 2x better than Butler. Dudley when he gets healthy will be better too.

Alright just finished watching the Dvr'd game and what an up and down game!! We really need to start clamping down on defense more. Yes they shot poorly but they missed a lot of open shots. We also allowed too many offensive rebounds/put back attempts in the game. Great job by Chris Paul bringing the offense for us.

Liked more what I saw for Dudley on offense tonight, he definitely is better when he is aggressive. Unfortunately his defense still looked very weak he did a good job passing though and still bad rebounding. Overall much better and if Doc can give Bullock more minutes than we will be much better off.

I still don't understand why Doc didn't play Reggie Bullock more tonight especially when.they went on a run and Dudley was getting burned.

JJ's lifetime .430 FG% is average for a SG...but with that being said he definitely brings more to the game then Butler.

True. But career .389 from 3...which is generally better than streaky. lol

Not an elite shooter from that area, but he is above average.

JJ Redick is a career 58TS% guy. Hyper efficient scorer, great off the ball, capable playmaker, limited athletically but smart defender. Overall, the ideal role player you want on a contender.

His FT shooting really helps in that area.

Good team win- a bit too sloppy here and there, but a lot of good performances all around. Chris Paul what a 4th quarter. It was nice to see him finally make some shots- everyone knows how capable he is a shooter. But throughout the game he made some big defensive plays, snatched rebounds and was just a bulldog out there. What a game by CP.

Same goes for Blake Griffin. Not only the scoring & rebounding, but very good defense as well playing a large role in shutting down Kevin Love. Redick was hot early, and Crawford hit some big shots in the 4th to help stretch the lead. DJ had a nice game as well- a couple of huge tip-outs in the 4th leading to a pair of 3 point possessions by Chris Paul. Nice to see Dudley contribute as well in the second half.

The bench actually looked pretty good out there tonight. Bullock hit a couple of 3's & played solid D. Hollins made some nice play as well.

Not a lot of Steph Curry's out there...

...so seriously, did the elbow look really bad or what?

Anybody?

I am not sure what the argument is? Are you saying he is a streaky mid range shooter? You aren't wrong but he not many shooters are great at shooting the 3 and at mid range. At the very least he is a very good 3 point shooter with a lot of other positive qualities.

No biggie. We know that JJ's been a fine addition to the team. Also leading the team in +/- not just because of his shooting, but the THREAT of his shooting and ability to force guys to chase after him.

Actually Dudley has a money mid range game too bad he hasn't been playing up to par. He was ok against the Wolves.

I'm hoping he'll really settle in and play well as the season progresses.

I really love our SG tandem of JJ and Jamal. I was one of those contemplating the trade of Jamal, but forget that. lol

And Redick is ranked 58th all time in 3 point %. I think that is tad better than above average. Just a tad though. Razz

Kenny Smith must be contractually obligated to never compliment the Clippers. Matt Winer asked Smith if he was impressed with Paul's record of 10/10. Smith recited the same old tired, "not really because it's about the playoffs" crap. Sure, the Clippers want to win in the playoffs, but that doesn't mean you have to be a Debbie Downer and dismiss regular season records. Geez!

Here's some advice. Let's not invite any of the TNT "analysts" to NBATV...well except maybe Shaq.

Average 3PT % for a SG is .362. So yes a tad (7%) better. Wink

TNT analysis is worthless anyway. Only mindless entertainment for casual basketball fans. The analysts on that show are on par with Skip Bayless which says a lot.

Just turn the tv off if you see those clowns talk.

Yeah the bench looked good but do you know who did not play tonight! Byron Mullens! Maybe he is the one who doesn't fit with that unit and throws everyone off!

As usual didn't see the game yet. I hear CP took over in the 4th. Is that right? If it is, that is really good news. We need that version of CP3 back.

Yep I didn't think it was possible for our bench to be successful with hollins out there but apparently he is much better than Mullens in every facet lol.

He made a 3 pointer and then another and just got fire. It was pretty awesome and I think helped get his confidence back.

Great game.

Somebody needs to put one of those shock collars on Ryan Hollins though, that kid thinks he's better than he is, running hooks, jump shots, stupid fouls, he is just messing up in every witch way, I can't believe the bench played so well despite all his mistakes. Doc needs to reel that guy in.

Starks was my favorite player growing up. Him and Ewing and all the badass forwards on those teams. Anthony Mason and Charles Oakley were about as tough and mean as anybody in the league. Loved those teams. If it weren't for some a-hole named MJ, they would have at least 1 ring, probably more.

At times Starks was terrible. At other times, he could single handedly beat your whole team.

They had their chance vs Hakeem and the Rockets if Ewing wasn't massively horrendous in the finals. If Ewing played his average, they could have won in 5-6 , that's how well Starks and Harper played.

Ewing's rebounds and blocked shots would counter the idea he was "horrendous". Didn't shoot the ball well, however. But we've been over this before. Ewing could have used more consistent outside shooters during that era. Which is why I'm glad we have shooters around our bigs this year.

Eh. I wouldn't call his play horrendous. He was never a great scorer especially in the playoffs(a lot of players aren't tbh like D Rob, KG, Karl Malone). He was guarded by Hakeem and was often double teamed.

He did a great job defensively and on the boards which are his strengths. I think his play was fine. It was Starks who caused the Knicks to lose. J.R. Smith kind of reminds of me of Starks. His play just shocks you. Either due to him chucking your team to a loss or due to him scoring at will.
