maybe this is the opposite of typical clips injury reports and he'll be back in a month. Pierce broke his hand and they're saying 4 weeks.

Interestingly enough, Paul's shooting has actually gotten better post-injury, not worse. Before his injury he attacked the basket more aggressively and used his floater in the lane a lot more. His transition post-injury seems like it has been to use the short mid-range fade-away more. But honestly, it was like 5 years ago, so I don't know how accurately I'm remembering something so specific from 5 years ago.

Paul missed because you can't make them all, I mean the few games before that, wasn't he in "God mode" in the 4th, making everything?

One of his misses was just due to an unlucky rotation of the ball. Redick is important, but not because Paul doesn't shoot as well since he is passing and therefore doesn't know or remember how to shoot as well, but because Redick is a good player.

That would be a bit weird if Paul passing caused him to shoot worse though, cause it would imply that he isn't practicing his shot anymore and realistically his more passing is him taking like 1 less FGA/G. People forget to also take into account him playing less minutes as a Clipper when comparing his scoring.

He averaged 21.2 PPG his three best years in New Orleans, 18.3 PPG as a Clipper, but is playing 3 less MPG. Paul scores 0.53 pts/min as a Clipper, so 3 more minutes would mean 1.59 more PPG = 19.9 PPG

He can't make them all Razz

That's the positive to take from this situation. Perhaps he will heal sooner than projected

Chris Paul can shoot well if he wants, but he'd have to work harder to get those shots without the threat of JJ Redick running around.

Its hard to find the silver lining but;

*JJ has had his right wrist/hand inujured before and bounced back nicely

*Gives Crawford more minutes

*Gives Willie a chance to get some real game time minutes

*Gives our rookie RB some extra minutes which can only be a positive for us later in the year

*JJ comes back first part of Jan with fresh legs along with a more cohesive team

All & all the injury hurts but I'm trying to look at the bright side.

Best silver lining is that he got the injury at the start of the season not at the end of the season.

Bone will be fine in +/- 6 weeks. It's that ligament that concerns me. Hope JJ had his own Doctor take a look before making any decisions on surgery. I still don't trust the Clips' med staff.

I want to be positive about this too, but it just feels like we can't catch a break yet. Still feel like our starting squad was beginning to gel really well together and just when you could see the potential Redick could have in this system and on this team, it all get's interrupted. I guess it could be worse and I should be grateful it wasn't something more serious and maybe teams will underestimate our squad now while Matt and JJ are out, but I can't pretend this is really a positive. Guess we'll make the best of things.

I just watched the replay of the play where JJ went down, if it would have been 98% of other players in the league I'd say it was an honest accident.

Given Cousins "mental" instability and disdain for the Clippers in general I'm going on record and say it would appear the push was calculated. This theory is cemented by the fact that JJ went to shake his hand and DC just brushed him off.

I'm normally not a vindictive person, however, when I see someone taking a cheap shot at our guys (especially when it results in injury) I take issue.

What I'd like to see is the favor returned when we play them next. Wait for DC to go up for a board and use the same push off he used to send him slamming to the floor. I mean enough is enough, we gotta stand up to these cheap shots at some point and put the league on notice. You cheap shot us were gonna give you twice what you give us.

exactly, that is why I was actually happy that Barnes retaliated against Ibaka when he got on aggressive on Blake. Its another reason why I miss Reggie evans..he also stood up to Ibaka.

I'm intrigued by the part that says Doc will use Green, Crawford and Bullock in "other ways" to make up for JJ's style.

Redick has a style of play that is hard for anyone on this team to emulate. Paul is our distributor, and even when he scores his bread and butter is using his dribbling and making layups. Griffin dunks and makes the mid range shots, and Crawford uses his footwork and crossovers to elude defenders. Redick is our true, pure shooter..none of our guys can do what he does, and he does it consistently.

Over 15 games his scoring output: 13, 26, 17, 15, 22, 7, 15, 26, 12, 15, 8, 15, 19, 15, 13. I look at these offensive outputs and I'm amazed that only twice has he put up single digits. I think this team will definitely miss him

Yeah that's pretty impressive. The best stats from a Clippers starting SG since EJ, if I'm not mistaken.

But we made do last year with Willie and Jamal. We can handle some business for the next 6 weeks while JJ heals up. That's right, I'm calling it as 6 instead of 8! These 6 weeks should force our guys to step up their defense. Force our other players to step up their game. Then when we get JJ back, it'll be icing on the cake!

This sucks because Green and Dudley simply don't work. You can't start two low production glue guys together like that because it really prevents the team from getting to prime playing pace. Those two guys are there solely for the benefit of CP and if he is not feeding them wide open shots they do nothing no assists ,boards , some solid defense but little else.

Last year with Willie it was easy because there was no hole we knew we would get the minimum from him and that Crawford would carry the rest. This year there expectations from the SG serious production and impact that Willie is just unable to fill. This wouldn't be so difficult if we didn't already have Dudley at SF. Its the very reason that against the pacers we lost the 1st and 3rd quarters and won the 2nd and 4th quarters.

Green alone we could survive but Green + Dudley and its gonna be a long trip. Blake is gonna have to be player of the month for this to work.

I agree we need Blake to play outstanding basketball, I know he is hitting his jumpers but Blake belongs in the paint and posting up for this team to be better because of the lack of reddick.

I feel like this season we miss Matt Barnes (of last year) more. He was the glue of our team last year that make it work. I wish Barnes and Redick a speedy recovery.

We could have really done with those two last night. A few 3 balls from Reddick could have changed the game. It was hard to watch Korver do his thing knowing that "our Korver" was out of action.

No doubt Barnes would have been helpful against both Korver and Paul George these last two games. Frustration.

I think the positive to take from this is that any given moment a role player, or main star, could be out due to injury. The team really needs to look to play as complete players. We have, for lack of a better word, specialists on this team: Redick shoots threes, Paul passes, DJ rebounds. When one of these three is out of the lineup we do suffer for it, which is why all players need to incorporate a little more in their game. Otherwise when one of these three is out the production they normally give is not replaced by someone else. I think that is why I've always liked guys like Andre Iguodala. They're not one dimensional. The only problem with Iggy is price.

I think you make a good point. And though I think it has got a bit boring with all the moaning about Dudley on this board, I think Dudley was brought in for his shooting. So if JJ is out then we should be getting our 3's from him and they clearly aren't dropping for him right now.

Collison technically can do some passing, but the reason he hasn't been able to be a starting PG in this league outside of defense is that he's had struggles effectively running offenses.

Crawford should be able to fill in for Redick's role in an injury situation, and when all healthy the SF's should be fine. In general though, the big men can't get injured, not even because the bench guys are one dimensional, but because they just aren't that good.
