10 - 3 for the clippers vs western conference teams

OKC is 11-4

Why Can't we beat Eastern Conference teams?? Aren't they the weakest?

I mean.. with the Lakers record they would be in 4th place in the eastern conference.

We've lost to the East because all but one were on the road and the one at home was Indiana.

Also, with JJ, our record against the east is 3-2.

Our record against the east without JJ is 0-3.

What's with the reliance on JJ, we didn't have him last year and the last I checked this team was lead by the big 3 not 4, the onerous should be on CP n BG to pull their fingers out and start balln especially on O

At one point in the beginning of the season it was pointed out (by Ralph?) that we haven't yet one in the eastern time zone. Still true?

Good question. We didn't have JJ early on in preseason games either, yet Willie actually played well and was aggressive.

I think there's 2 reasons it's different this year. Doc is more comfortable with an off-the-ball guard in the lineup rather than spot up guys. Whereas last year we were used to that style and managed to find a way to win.

The other reason is our 3 position. Last year, Butler would start hot at times (much the way JJ does for us this year), and Barnes would finish games with his overall solid play. Dudley seems even less aggressive than Butler and Barnes is injured.

So we're cool all the way to the finals, then?

The problem isn't just JJ. The problem is his replacement(Willie) is playing like turd and nowhere near his normal level of play. Same for Dudley.

Of course losing JJ hurts but not to this extent if our wings were playing at their normal level.

Agreed. Willie has shot 4/21 from three in the last 6 games. I feel like until he gets his shot back, we'll struggle a little looking for sscoring.

I don't really think it has anything to do with JJ, even without him, given the talent we have, the East should be easy to handle.

I just think the Clips are the most play-to-the-competition-of-your-opponents team in the NBA.

Of course JJ has something to do with this. First, he's makes up about 16 points. Second, his defense has been surprisingly effective. Thirdly, his off ball movements have been centerpiece for Doc's and Alvin's offense.

There's been some stupid losses but considering the team is learning a new system, Doc is still making adjustments(finally leaving Mullens on the bench), the schedule has been slightly difficult, etc. so I'm nowhere near worried. The Clippers will climb the standings.

So far that is a true statement. I wish I could refute it, but it is there

It is for lack of scoring I say, We were supposed to have inside presence to kick it out to wings who can knock it down! Last game Dudley didn't even have ONE 3 after like 6 or 7 attempts, and Green isn't shooting it either.

Still 14-8 at the end of all that, pace for 52 wins, and technically a lot of what should be easier games are coming up, so yes, worry isn't appropriate for the circumstances.

EDIT: Just making it clear that I expect the win pace, % to increase, not that I'm content with finishing the season with 52 wins, but with that pace based on the season so far

  • injuries. We will be fine if our team is healthy come playoff time. Picking up one defensive backup big would also not hurt,

Green did so well for us last year, when guys went down this year I felt we were in good hands with Green, but I can't believe what I'm seeing so far Sad

JJ definitely helps the Clips a lot, and makes CP3's job easier. But missing him shouldn't be the reason we're doing terrible against the east. If that was the case, then our team really really sucks. Based on what the Clips are capable of, even if you take out BG, I think we should've won every East game other than Indiana/Miami.

Our problem is we rarely get an easy win, or even lose in a blowout. Always a close score, and play to the level of competition. Even the last 76ers game, we let a 21 point lead cut to 8 with half a quarter to play.

No doubt we SHOULD be better even without JJ. But the record speaks for itself. Besides. Who else on our team knows the East better than JJ? Would have been nice to have him on this trip.

He probably would've won us maybe a couple games. But he just can't be the main reason to the team's success over mediocre teams. =/

But yeah, definitely can't wait for him to get back. Can't stand it when teams double team CP3 from half court, and rest of the team just watch instead of running to open spots.
