You'll probably be saying that about Jackson real soon. Wink

Well i'd rather take chances on Jax shooting 3 ball than dud. Atleast he knows how to step up making crucial 3balls during playoff basketball with or without opponents hand on his face.

If Dudley is still injured he will need the rest anyway

That might be the biggest benefit to this whole thing. Get Barnes back and he and Jackson can alternate until Jared gets healed up. He needs to sit until he can play without that hindrance.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but I guess S-Jax is the best available out there to fit the Clippers' needs. At least he will be able to grab more rebounds & is a more aggressive player than Dudley. Jackson also can score in the post as well. As long as he plays within himself and have a good attitude, it's kind of a no-lose signing for the team.

He should start our next game. Dudley is getting worse every game.

Why wouldn't the team just put Jamison at PF in that scenario? Jackson isn't really a small ball PF. Barnes played that role for GS for example.

Honestly, I'm just happy about a body to fill in. Anything more than being a body is extra. I'll take the realistic expectation route from a guy who last shot:

37.1% FG and 27.1% 3PT om 170 3PA in 55 games, went 0for in 30 out of those 55 games (55% of the time), who has only hit 27.9% of his last 340 3PT attempts and who turns the ball over a lot more than he should have been the past few seasons.

Jackson has played a lot of bad basketball, and even if he was defending well, which he's been okay I think, there was too much suckiness to make up for all the negatives.

So really, I don't know what to expect, hopefully his shot is back and he takes smarter shots.

Terrible Dudley (21 games):

10.5 pts/36, 45.6% FG, 34.1% 3PT, .550 TS%

Jack the past two seasons (102 games):

12.6 pts/36, 37.1% FG, 27.9% 3PT, .480 TS%

So I think we need to have a more leveled expectation at least in terms of shooting and scoring. He turns it over too much now for us to really want him creating, but at least he's grabbed rebounds, 5.0 per 36 last two seasons. Defense is a mystery, who actually knows what we'll get from him there, could be decent, could be bad, we'll see....

...but let's not get carried away as to whether he's improving the team, most likely isn't, but he's preventing Dudley from playing 38 minutes in a game.

He has a sore knee. Many players have similar injuries. Nothing against him personally but his game has always been mediocre and the knee just makes it that much worse.

I believe he is #15 on our roster. I don't think we can waive anybody. Actually Hollins isn't playing badly. At $4.25 mill Dudley will be hard to dump. How many SF's? Dudley, Mat, Bullock and Jax.

SG Willie, JJ, Jamal. Matt can play SG.

A trade with Wille. Good pickup for $1.4 mill 2014-15 not guaranteed.

LO sign and trade. Can we do it? We could have Mullins extend his arms and we could trade him as a coat rack

When we sign Dudley a lot of us here said that he is a good addition, and when we sign Jamison a lot of us said not a good pick up, but now it's reverse, Jamison in a limited minutes play better than Dudley and cheaper, so we'll see how Jackson fit to Doc system. Why not give a try to Jamison at SF. and put Dudley in the bench for a while.

At the very least if jackson can't provide anything for this team what's going to happen he is going to get put behind dudley barnes and probably bullock??

I still think Dudley is going to play better for us as the season goes along. Regardless, I like the Captain Jack signing for the defense, toughness, and the fact that he's a guy who will always play have his teammates' backs.

Right now we need to play him a lot less minutes or bench him. Honestly his play has gradually been getting worse. He needs to rest his knee but he is playing heavy minutes due to the injuries we have. Once Barnes gets back hopefully his minutes are severely reduced.

It's funny because Jamison hasn't actually played that well, he's even shot terrible, but because the comparison is Mullens who was a miserable defender, that's why it has been "good". Most people didn't think Jamison couldn't score, but that since the team has already signed Mullens, a big who could rebound and defend made more sense.

I said it in summer, but I would have rather not signed Mullens, signed Jamison, and then still looked for a more rebound / defense oriented big.

On the other hand, a lot of people thought Mullens would be good, though I don't know why (potential or that one good game he had or something), but look at how that has turned out. Collison has disappointed in comparison to most's expectations, while Redick didn't originally impress some people but has been the best acquisition.

So really, who knows?

His career FG% and 3PT% are all about average. He's been an average to slightly below average rebounder all his career. He's an average defender. So with all that if that's what you define as mediocre...ok.

I think we all need to bite the bullet and say DUDley needs to take about a month off and let the tendinitis get better. Like I've said before Tendinitis isn't like other injuries where regardless of what you do, as long as you don't re-injure it it will heal.

Tenditis just keeps flaring up with physical activity, over and over again. So realistically this will be the same DUDley we have in the playoffs.

If most of our wings weren't out this would be a realistic option. I have to admit my patience when it comes to Dudley is running thin. I hope our wings get better soon so we can bench him. I want him at 100% in the playoffs.

He maybe slow, but the knee doesn't help with that or his shooting.

he has to take a mandatory physical first. When we hear that is completed, we will know when he suits up.

I want him to hit more 3s than dudley did against Philly, Green struggling too. Did dudley hit any of his wide open 3s, he chucked like 5...

He was 1-8 on the 3 ball. Green 1-6. But CP was 2-3.

Here we go again with more unrealistic expectations. You think a guy who hasn't played professionally in over half a year, with no training camp, and just signed a day ago is going to come in and have a real impact on a game?

You are setting him up for failure already. It will take some time to get adjusted the offense and defensive schemes as well as game condition.

That's a good pt. At the moment it is about getting him up to scratch and giving Dudley a blow every now and then.

Well....Jack went 0 for in 26/55 games last season from 3PT range. Two games he attempted 0, so that's okay. One game he attempted 1, so I mean it's fine that you don't go 100%. 20 games he attempted 2 or more, 9 games 3 or more and made none.

The year before he shot 25% or below from 3PT range in 28/47 games (60% of the time). Last year he also shot 40% or lower FG% in 37/55 games (67% of the time), so that should guide expectations.

Consistent 3PT shooting has never really been an attribute of his, and certainly not in recent years. Even for his career he's below average compared to the league. I think if we get anything above 33% from him, we can't really complain. I'm not saying that is "good", but I'm just saying it would be out of character for him to be shooting well and consistently from 3PT range for any long period of time.

Exactly, this is the same thing that happened with Mullens. These are cases where you should expect little and really expect well below average production, but if they give more, that's extra and a surprise.

The main thing is that Dudley won't have to play 38 minutes in a game. That is the value.

When you start expecting (you can wish, but expecting is different) him to have high impact or be a good player, then it's just putting unrealistic expectations that the guy hasn't been able to achieve in 3 years

If he's not great with the 3 ball, what does he have to offer if he is playing well?

Agent0

Well he used to be at least average ro above average with the 3PT shot. Combining that with solid defense and all-round skills despite turnovers, he was an above average player.

Of course he wasn't 35 years old then either. What does he offer now when he's playing well? Honestly I have no clue.

I mean in an individual game anyone can play well, so he can have a game here and there where he shoots well, but of course outliers aren't really what we should base anything on.

Honestly I'm not sure, I'm interested in finding out myself, but as of now it isn't about how good he is, but about the team having injuries and not wanting to play an injured guy who's already struggling 38 MPG.

All we need with Stephan Jackson is him playing with energy.. Hopefully he is in shape and can come and take the spot as a replacement for our injured wings..

Very useful site. NBA.com is kinda of winning the game right now, but basketball-reference is still better for quick reference.

NBA.com has a lot of situation stuff as well as videos so you can really see how players are doing what they do. Saves me time in trying to find games of a player who I'd like to get a better grasp on, that's for sure, and much better than highlights where you usually see all the good.

Really? sweet, him and Barnes can enforce. BTW, Ibaka has been in so much s##t you can't help but conclude that he is a problem...you just don't find yourself in that many fights if you're innocent

Ibaka ain't about that life

He made the tweet after something happened with Artest, but he later clarified that it was because the last two times they played he told Ibaka that. The timing was obviously weird.

Good we will need someone who can get in Ibaka's face. That was some cheap **** he tried to pull against Blake. Man I miss having Reggie Evans. I still remember how he got in Ibaka's face. Hopefully someone elbows Ibaka in the head again to beat some sense into him

I think that's another positive about this acquisition. If Jackson ends up being a decent acquisition we can sit Dudley as long as needs to have that injury healed.
