it is a great problem to have. jamal even displayed some talent at the point guard position too, although I wouldn't gamble on giving him time at that position, but there was one game where he did have about 10+assists.

I'm all for Crossover starting UNTIL JJ comes back. The bench caught a stride with J, DC, and Bullock and I think they can be even better with Barnes and a stretch 4 improvement with Jackson /Jamison over Mullens. Hollins is alright by me so far but if we can find a way to get a C/PF upgrade we need to do it.

Just a little friendly reminder of what happens when our starters are firing on all cylinders. Very Happy

The Clippers are impressive when everyone is playing to their potential. I was very proud of this team during the SA, GSW, and Houston wins..let's hope we see more of them

^ Yeah I heard he was gonna get it off. I take it he still has to take the arm easy for a while obviously.

Nice. Can't wait till he is healthy again, Mr Constant Motion.

Crawford is great.....off the bench.

Yes he hits a clutch shot or two, but it doesn't make up for his 6 or 7 for 20 shooting most of his games as a a starter. That's a LOT of missed shots when you chuck it up more than anyone on the team (in general, sometimes it's Blake and sometimes CP)

It was my big disappointment with him last year. He shot great with the second unit when we were ahead and extended the lead, but when we were behind, he couldn't close the gap....in other words, not clutch....

Can't wait till JJ comes back

Crawford coming down to earth. Redick needs to start, his off the ball movement adds a crucial dimension to offense. We seemed like a well oiled machine with him.

Have to disagree. Crawford's shooting percentage has been around 30% most games he started since JJ went out, and that's attempting almost 20 shots a game. I like Jamal, but that's a lot of misses.......guy just isn't clutch.

A couple of days ago, Doc basically admitted JJ will continue to start. He said "he loves" what Jamal has done starting but "I don't think that's where he wants to be, or where we want him full time. But in a pinch, he's proven that he can be a starter."

I love Jamal. And he's an outstanding 4th quarter player. But JJ's presence cannot be understated.

Ok, now that we have a 10 game sample size, anyone still think Crawford should start over JJ?

I think basketball discussions always suffer from sample size, people try to make too broad conclusions from small samples.

We realized what we knew before, the team is better when both are healthy, duh! But there's a reason Jamal has come off the bench for teams, it's just a reasonable role for his skills. As a starter he's basically just attempting shots, no rebounding and no passing to speak of, sort of like Nick Young.

18.7 pts, 1.9 rebs, 2.1 assists, 1.9 tov, 1.0 stl, 37.9% FG, 36.4% 3PT

FG% might be deceiving since he has been taking 7.3 3PA, so let's look at the better TS% which takes into account FG%, 3PT% and FT%.

His TS% is .500, he's been under .500 TS% in 6 out of 9 games as a starter (league average last season for example was .536, and .538 at SG' so decently below league average), so it hasn't been the best stretch for him, but you also have to think that at his age, playing 36.5 MPG might be part of the issue.

So maybe if he was starting but playing like 28 MPG he would be more effective. Of course, that might be countered by the fact that he was struggling for the 11 games before he was starting in terms of shooting from the field. At least then though, he was rebounding, passing and getting to the line better.

Last 20 games:

17.2 pts, 2.4 rebs, 2.5 assists, 1.0 stl, 1.9 tov, 15.8 FGA, 38.0% FG, 31.1% 3PT, .501 TS%, 31.9 MPG

So it might just be a tough stretch in general for Jamal

Jamal has never been a terribly high efficiency scorer. I trust redick to make the smart play on crunch time more than jamal ( who might be able to make difficult shots but gets tunnel vision as bad as nick young)

I trust Jamal in the clutch...when we need a difficult shot made. But I trust JJ to get more open in the clutch. Those two guys and Paul are great options to have down the stretch. But like I said in another thread, just as I miss what JJ gave us starting, I miss what Jamal gave us off the bench. Both were thriving. Wasn't Jamal shooting, like, 49% from 3's off the bench? And while JJ's 3's weren't as consistent, his overall shooting was almost 47%. We need both those guys BACK!

Since 2008-2009, he's actually been efficient as a scorer and above league average. The only bad year he had since then was his stint in Portland.

Look at his TS% and Ortg since 08-09:

08-09: .545 / 110

09-10: .573 / 114

10-11: .545 / 105

11-12: .506 / 102

12-13: .558 / 109

A good amount about the general league average that is usually between 104-105 Ortg over those seasons. Portland obviously being the bad year, and his second year in Atlanta wasn't as successful as his first, but still average, which is okay enough for a bench shot creator type player.

Even this year as a whole so far, since he started off well, he's at about what the league average usually is at .535 TS%, though his overall offensive efficiency at 102 is below average, his shooting efficiency in isolation has been okay.

You are right that Jamal can have tunnel vision issues, but he's a very good catch and shoot 3PT shooter, especially from the corners, and that's a shot you can almost always trust him to make.

I think last night answered that question, all good teams we've lost to that we've played with Crawford starting. Jazz almost beat us, and they're the worst team in the west.

Hasn't Doc already stated that he feels JJ is better starting and Jamal better off the bench.

I agree with Doc.

JJ needs CP3 to get wide open looks, that is why he was so successful in the beginning
