According to ESPN "Rivers didn't rule out pursuing center Andrew Bynum, who was released by the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday and is expected to sign with a team soon. "I won't say. I'm playing poker right now," Rivers said. "I can't say. We do talk about everyone but I do like our team, though. I really do so I tread very cautiously with change"

Sounds to me like he will not make a fast decision. I do not believe Bynum will play for the amount of money we can pay him any how. I think he will go we're the money is.

If he wanted the $$ he would have stayed in Cleveland and played with LeBron

@ESPNSteinLine: Andrew Bynum latest: Hear Clips leaning away from idea of signing Bynum for now AND that Indy is among teams to express exploratory interest If the Pacers and Heat or interested that means Bynum is....

Safe to say that for Doc, character is a big determining factor when acquiring a player.

If Indy gets Bynum they're in the Finals. If Miami gets Bynum they're in the Finals.

We need to swoop in.

@ESPNSteinLine: Pacers, I'm told, have NOT made a formal offer to Andrew Bynum. But they were among original eight teams to call Bynum's camp this week @ESPNSteinLine: Sense is Pacers' interest here is more about keeping....

Wow. To pick him up for the sole reason of keeping him away from Miami. Well, that'll keep Bynum happy and well behaved, I'm sure.

Okay Indy, we'll sign Bynum so Miami can't if you just trade Ian Mahinmi for Mullens. K, deal?

Really would like to know the reasoning behind backing off Bynum. Front office has to know the fans would understand if he won't buy in it would be nice if confirmed.

I'm 99.9% sure the hesitation is Bynum's history of bad attitude. Not saying I would agree with NOT picking him up. Just saying that's got to be the reasoning here.

Does anybody have a timetable on Okafor? Last I heard was January is the earliest he could come back.

I have a feeling we are waiting for him to get healthy and waived. His attitude is astronomically better than Bynum's, but his skill is not. He's still really really good for a back up and was teammates with Chris already.

Depends if they don''t like his attitude after talking to him and telling him his role then fine. If Doc and crew are still doing this without even trying to talk to him then there should be some fan backlash. Don't really care about history its about what he will do here and if he buys in off the bench. Front office made the bench big problem they need to fix it.

This is what makes me not want the POS on our team:

I don't care how good he MIGHT be for us, that type of **** doesn't belong with this group.

^ Bynum is a little f*cker no doubt about it. I'm not proud about it, but I like winning more than I care about having a perfect locker room.

Last year we had the best group of good guys any team could ever ask for and look where that got us.

NO............Bynum doesn't want to play ball and has degenerative knee cartilage problems like B.Roy.

YES............If he'll pay for the minimum and Doc can sort his attitude he is a 7' with skills and we only want him for backup so how can we lose.

Both pretty persuasive arguments but on what little info I have I would say NO!

Yeah it's a classic example of loving a guy's game, but weighing that out with his shenanigans. Are his shenanigans BIGGER than his advantages? Do we want a guy like that in the locker room? I must admit, that's a tough one.

But with his injuries and his lack of motivation will his game be any good?

I like a little nastiness. And I even think it's necessary to go all the way. But not necessarily that kind of nastiness. But it's not even the effect ON the court that has me apprehensive. It's the locker room. But again, Doc's the kind of guy who should be able to nip that in the bud. Meh, like I said....tough one.

Good question. I guess the idea is that even a bad Bynum is better than what we have now backing up DJ and Blake.

Wake up people, Bynum has had more than enough chances and time to prove his emotional and maturity levels. And you think he is going to change or all of a sudden be a different person, do not be suckered into a false fantasy. The man has maxed as a person to this date, his next growth as a person will be much later in life when he looks back on what could have been. Do not ruin our chemistry with this cancer of an attitude.

Andrew Bynum's best all around year he averaged 18.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.9 blocks.

Chris Kaman's best all around year he averaged 15.7 points, 12.7 rebounds, 2.8 blocks.

Just throwing that out there! Razz

A nice way of saying, com'on man, this guy is nuts. We don't need someone that is nuts and plays when they want to, not when they have to.

I don't think Bynum truly ever respected Mike Brown though. Only thing I think Bynum was hoping on was playing with Kyrie and crew they could all take the next big step.

ODOM! I think I would rather take Odom and everything that comes with him than Bynum right now! I think Doc would rather have Lamar to! They said Lamar should be ready by mid-January and....

Please people understand that if we will take Bynum, he is just a back up and pick up some minutes from blake and DJ snd if he will show some bad attitude Doc will just put him in the locker room, he can't affect DJ performance, but if he can perform better that a big plus for us.

If Kaman just didn't struggle so much with making enough shots, lol. Bynum probably shot like 10% better from the field than Kaman.

That was the year Brand got injured right?

ClipperKyle, is Odom really the "safest" option though?

True, but Kaman's better offensively than Hollins, and solid against other bench players. It'll never happen anyway, but just a perspective thing.

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... rew-bynum/

If Bynum will go to indiana, then goodbye Miami, they have already problem with Hibbert and if Bynum will be in their line up they are unstoppable. If we can't pick up Bynum i hope we can make a trade, mullens for kaman or Jordan hill from flakers.

I do not think they will trade with us......not after the but whooping and ass-kicking of a life time.

I would take either if they did. CK just needs to rebound and defend and hit jumpers. He WILL not handle the ball here.

Hill will bring energy and hustle.

He is the "safest BET" we are betting on all these players - Odom , Bynum , Okafor! Okafor and Bynums issues are physical! Odom issues are just his life! Out of all of those players....

According to ESPN "The race to sign Andrew Bynum appears to be unfolding a slower pace than Bynum hoped. The 26-year-old became a free agent Thursday night after clearing waivers, but the latest rumbles on the league's personnel grapevine suggest that more teams are backing away from the idea as opposed to gambling on the talented but undependable 7-footer.

According to ESPN "Sources on Sunday that the Los Angeles Clippers, long presumed to be one of Bynum's primary suitors, are leaning against the prospect of signing the enigmatic former Los Angeles Laker."

As the old saying goes, be carefully of what you wish for. It looks like now that Bynum is available, all the teams are stepping back and rethinking is he worth the gamble.

I would rather Okafor. I would love to have him as our backup big, and best of all adding a non-Laker player is a better approach

We need a good positive attitude on this team not a headache !! Doc rivers preaches the team concept , and nothing about Andrews gm or atitude is about the team !! Not worth the money or the gamble !!

When you have a chance to get a player like Andrew Bynum for the minimum, you do it. I don't know how much longer I can stomach watching Jamison, Hollins, and Mullens as our main bigs off the bench. We desperately need a 3rd big off the bench and adding Bynum can get us over the hump.

If we will get Bynum we don't need Mullens but i don't know if Doc wants him or he is waiting for Odom.

it is definitely not that cut and dry.

  1. I keep hearing that he wants more than the minimum

  2. we don't even know if he really does want to come here

  3. who knows if he will be ok playing backup minutes. especially when he will be backing up a guy that plays 35+ minutes a game

  4. he is never healthy

  5. he has been a cancer everywhere he has gone

with that being said, i do want bynum. It is just not as simple as it sounds.

Bynum stops himself, he shoots 42% and isn't able to defend transition or pick and roll. I like Bosh and Anderson's chances of guarding Bynum a lot better than his chances at guarding them.

I'd love Bynum on an opposing team in the playoffs, Jordan would runs circles around his slow lazy butt.
