Repped High Quality Post

The 05-06 Elton Brand was probably the best PF the team has seen. Blake Griffin is on course to be the best PF the Clippers and maybe the NBA has seen. I don't hold a grudge against EB anymore. All I hold is the great memories that 05-06 season brought. It definitely couldn't have happened without Sam Cassel either. That 8 second violation and that Raja Bell corner 3 still haunt me but that season re-lite my Clipper love. That Clipper team really started the change of the the culture. It definitely wasn't "Lob City" but I still appreciated "Blue Collar City". Thank you.

The trade that brought Cassel here was monumental. Love that guy even though he went to FSU.

I'll never forgive Brand for what he did. I remember I joined the forum the day he burned us. That POS can rot or tear another ACL for all I care.

It hurt but that season along with an out of shaped baron brought us BG. All is forgiven in my books and would rather remember the good times

Elton who?

Sam was clutch that whole season. I watched every game. He was the chucker of chuckers lol...

Don't forget the caveman. The best clumsiest big man in the league at that time.

Sam Cassel "Chucker of chuckers"? WTF? His 3 point shot was definitely off that season but dude had a clutch mid-range turn around shot. He definitely was our leader. #YourTrippingMan

Postman never fails to deliver. Not once in his time here have I heard Cassell referred to as a "chucker". Lol. He was the catalyst and brain of the 06 operation.

Most fans on this site probably can't respond to this thread because they are new fans, but that team had a chance to go to the finals and was one possession away from that happening against the suns.

Elton Brand was an MVP candidate averaging 24 points and 10 rebounds a game. Cassel and Mobley opened the floor for him.

A strange fact many do not know, but Artest was going to be traded to our team for Maggette but Maggette stopped the trade! I think we could have easily gone to the finals with this trade and maybe won, but I think David Stern would have stopped it and helped Dwane Wade Miami beat us.

I still think this team had the potential to go the finals without the trade and would have if not for a missed call when Raja Bell pushed off and drained a three, but if Artest was on that team, we would have gone to the finals for sure, no question.

That was a dream season. Anybody remember Cassel 36 point openner with the Clippers.

That year was a perfect opportunity to go to the finals with Stoudamire being hurt but Dallas was deep from top to bottom that year. They also had a prime Harris and Howard. Last year's team had more potential to reach the final. We were up 2-0 and Westbrook just got hurt. We also matched up well with the spurs

Brand was so underrated that season. He could go toe to toe with guys like Duncan, Dirk and KG.

Yup. Brand had the bad luck of competing with prime Duncan, KG and Webber. If he was in his prime today he would be the best all around PF in the game. I still don't understand why Dunleavy had little Ewing Jr on Bell that.last possession. Sure he was a scrappy defender but he was like 6'2. Nobody here has mentioned Quintin Ross. What happened to that kid? Loved his D, he was a big part of our bench D.

Funny I was just researching quinton Ross the other day.

He was our best defender. And actually started to develop that mid range shot.

@the guy saying Magette for Artest. I feel that would have been a bad trade if Magette was healthy. But with Magette hurt that season that might have helped us get to the finals.

@my chucker comment. I prefaced it with he was Clutch lol. But come you can't tell me 4th qtr he use to come down and chuck that ball, and sometimes to the frustration of coach dunleavy.

And don't forget about Shaun Livingston. He was our golden boy. Playing under cassell was the perfect opportunity for him to blossom.

I honestly thought he was going to be the best PG in the league at some point. His height + quickness + passing ability made him pretty much non gaurdable.

Probably because that is the season that turned you onto the clippers.

While some of us were fans long before that and had to endure horrid seasons of failure, ridicule, and frustration.

So that season was special for many of us because we finally had a good shot at running for a championship.

Okay,so,the Clips had a deal the year EB and Shaun were on the bench and re-habbing called a Chalk Talk, for STHs. We all met at Staples before a game , perhaps 100-200 of us, the coach (Dumleavy) gave us an impromptu talk as though we were players and we also had Ralph Lawler talk to us.

During this, two guys were on court shooting,EB and Shaun. They were trying to showcase their talents and the fact they were going to be as good a new. It was sort of a big set up because right at the end Ralph yelled something to them about the next year's squad and they both told us we needed to renew because the next season would be the best in history.

A lot of people committed right then and there, then both guys were traded. Corey left too but not of his own doing.

So that is why I was mad at Elton,I even gave an autographed jersey to the Goodwill truck.. He was my favorite buy at the time and I felt he betrayed us,telling us he would be there and he walked. Corey was also a fav but he was screwed by DTS,IMHO.

But in hindsight that was my second favorite Clipper squad. I have had a few individual players I enjoyed in the last couple of decades, but as a squad that was my 2nd favorite. You can probably guess which one is my favorite.

Awww man yea Elton is scum man. I remember that whole scenario. He just disappeared, quit returning phone calls, next thing you know he is in philly.

TBH I knew Shaun wasn't going to come back the same from that injury.

I had the unpleasant honor of watching that game live on TV when it happened.

But that def was my second favorite squad. I remember hearing Lawler yell "BLOOOOCKED BY BRANNDDD!". For some reason I use to love that. lol
