It sure didn't look like a season ending injury the way it happened.

I hope CP3 be back after the All-star break.

I saw Al Horford injury and I was worried it would be the same injury as his. If it sprain and a GRADE 1, I'll be happy. He'll just be out until All-star break. This would be also a good time for the Clippers team to find their identity and learn how to win without CP3. Please get well soon CP3!

My fear is that best case scenario seems to be 3-5 weeks. He will be crushed if he can't play I a ll star game. I hope it's just 3-4 weeks tops.

Great post. This is indeed the silver linning. We do need to learn how to win without him.

Most likely it will be after the break.

Damn- that's rough. Not one of those where you can just pop it back in I suppose. Hopefully it heals 100% before he comes back because you don't want it to be like one of those type of shoulder injuries where it will pop out frequently afterwards.

Question, is 3-5 weeks just a minimum marker and speculation? They did not have MRI or X-Ray yet. If so, when do we hear from the result?

its the NBA folks. we weren't going to have a full season without injuries. this is where Collison is going to earn his keep. I expect 12 ppg, 5 apg and 2 rpg...make it happen collison.

My guess is he'll get the MRI tomorrow, but we won't hear any more until Monday's pre-game presser.

Now hearing that this is an optimistic assessment. I'm sitting here stewing. I just want to see what his team looks like injury free! I don't want to lose our hold on he division. Please get better soon Chris!

I know it's almost unavoidable, but I am Very frustrated that one player can be so monumental to our team that we are smoked without them.

Dirk is a class act, just have to say that. But what he said he heard Paul say on the court after the injury is very disconcerting - her heard a "pop"

One door closes, another one opens.

Running the offense through Blake for a few weeks will only make him better come April.

Man this hurts. I'm rooting for a quick recovery, but if I said that I wasn't concerned going forward without Chris I'd be lying. I already had questions about this roster with CP healthy. Now, this team could really be in trouble. I wonder if Doc is looking at roster changes.

Don't believe Doc wants to even think about this until the team is back in LA. Huge focus on the next game against the Spurs just get Paul back home and rested.

This sucks. Now we only need blake to avg 35/15/8 for a few weeks, well be fine.

Repped High Quality Post

So I spend a good time in researching about shoulder separation and here what I found out.

If CP3 suffer:

Grade 1 Injury - Tenderness when touch, bruising around the joint. Minor pain with arm movement and no pain in coracoclavicular ligaments (that's the bone that connect the clavicle to the scapula).

Recovery time: Usually heal within a few weeks (3-6 weeks)

Grade 2 Injury - Moderate and serve pain. Swelling may present and pain with arm movement. Small bump on top of the shoulder where the clavicle ends. The area in coracoclavicular ligaments may be painful when touched.

Recovery time: Expect at least 6 weeks to the end of the season , but right before playoff.

Grade 3 Injury - Both AC and CC ligament is torn. The person immediately support the elbow while holding the arm on the side. Swelling is present. As the joint move, popping sound may occur. There is a shoulder deformity and bump on the top of the shoulder

Recovery time: Require Surgery and that would be end of the season.

Source: http://thesteadmanclinic.com/shoulder_acseperation/symptoms.asp

My analysis:

I am not a doctor or anything, but I am fascinate on how a human body work. Looking at the replay, Chris Paul did not hold his elbow for support which is the good news which means it is unlikely to be Grade 3 Injury. He can move his arm with some range, but limited. I don't really see any deformity on top of his shoulder but it was hard to analyze without being there to feel the source of the injury. When he walk to the locker room, he was able to move his arm with limited range which look like is good news because that mean his AC remain intact. If I have to pick the diagnosis, I would expect a Grade 1 sprain, but not counting out Grade 2. I think Chris Paul will be out until the All-Star break and will be back in second half of the season for precaution. I hope CP3 injury is not too severe and come back 100%. We just need him for playoff time.

Team Looking Forward:

This team will now have to step out. I am curious how this team will turn out without the play manufacturer or the magicians. I feel like Clippers have always been dependent on CP3 to pull a bunny out of a hat on some plays so I wonder who will step up with playmaking ability. Thank God this month is like a cushion unlike the previous month. This is the time Clips need to step up and find out who they really are. This is a perfect opportunity for the Clips to make production on their own without the composer and I am hoping the workhorse in Blake Griffin can go overload and start dominating in games. DJ, Crawford, Collison, and etc. all must step up to replace the production. I could see them going 500 throughout, but if CP3 is to be back in second half, I can see this stretch of schedule will benefit them in the long run. Go Clippers!

I say paul put it upon himself by flopping. But all of you will attack me for my opinion. Paul needs help.

He falls all the time, he was going fullspeed got a small push, he went down, i don't see that as a flop, but even if it was it got the foul call, as where if standing he wouldn't have gotten it. Either way saying that is how u bring a dislocated shoulder to yourself seems an odd thought to me.

Nobody attacks you for your opinion. We enjoy the comic relief. Keep it coming. If it weren't fun we'd ignore you. Does he need a shrink?

Let's see. A player who is singlehandedly winning a game flops and purposely inured his shoulder and need a psychiatrist because he flopped.

Next you're going to say he's just a little b*tch and needs to see a gynecologist.

The shoulder separation explanation isn't exactly right. Ignore the pain/bruising part. They all hurt and they don't cause bruises

A grade I is where the ligaments are stretched. A Grade II is where they are partially torn. There may be a bump or maybe not. A Grade III is where they are completely torn and the clavicle floats free. Threes are so obvious you don't really need an MRI, A Grade III needs surgery for an elite athlete. Grade II requires ligament healing. It's hard to say which but my bet is a II

Take another look at the diagram

numero trois

This is a semi blessing in disguise. If this team can't win without Paul we have a problem especially when JJ gets back. I've always worried that we're too dependent on CP. Collison is a starter and Jamal started out as a PG. WE have marked improvement from BG and if DJ steps up with offense there is no reason we shouldn't be a top tier team capable of beating anyone. CP should be gravy.

According to Eric Pattern on Twitter "More on @CP3's injured shoulder. To clear things up: he DID travel to San Antonio with team. He will be re-evaluated Sunday AND Monday." Hopefully this means it may not be as bad as it sounds. Lets hope

This isn't any "semi blessing in disguise" no matter how you spin it Toohip. When that player is one of the top 5 players in the league, you ARE dependent on him. Nice try though, lol.

The offense (and defense) will take a hit without Paul and top tier we won't be. Hopefully we're capable of being a .500 team in his absence...anything else would be gravy.

Yes we lost our best player. But on the bright side, everyone else will have many opportunities to develop. The team was too reliant on CP3, now it's their time (especially Blake) to come up with big plays during clutch situations. Collison better learn to distribute the ball, rather than going iso most of the time.

If players actually learn and develop within the 3-5 weeks, then it's actually a blessing in disguise.

You know "Barnes". People here are too nice to you in this board, but I won't tolerate that. Tell me, in what's state and realm you think CP3 was flopping at that play. That was such a lazy accusation. If you are going to say he flop, please tell us how he flop, I would love to hear your explanation.

I do believe one door closes and another one opens! Chris goes down but as Ralph said The Clippers found out Deandre Jordan's Post Game has improved and can be a weapon! Blake can take Tim Duncan and Deandre after last night should be able to Dominate Tiago Splitter!

Blake - 25 points and 15 rebounds

Deandre - 25 points and 18 rebounds

Dominating Front Court Numbers! DJ should be able to keep this up for a few weeks! If Chris's injury was as bad as thought he would have flown home to LA -- Hopefully Not Serious

DJ can have post game like Olajuwon and still not be a threat to any team. The strategy is simple, just hack him to the free throw line.

While CP3's injury is devastating, it is what it is. Time for the guys to step up and find themselves. The guys proved they can win a game on the road to a very good team...Playing from behind late in a game. That's encouraging. We also watched DJ play without the help of CP3 which in proved to me he can step up his game and not play scared and hesitant. Time to make lemonade.

Oh, people just have to wish for the best but didn't CP3 get hurt right around this time last season during our long road trip?

I've been reading about this injury and feel sick that he will probably never fully recover in terms of pain from it and it causes arthritis. I hope he can come back the same.

Don't think that's any indication on how severe the injury is. Me thinks Paul just wanted to be on the bench tonight to support the team, since their going home tomorrow anyway. If it would have been a longer road trip, I think he would have been sent home. I believe Doc initially said that he was being sent back in his after game press conference last night.

positives:

  1. CP will be back.

  2. the regular season is pretty much irrelevant. just avoid a first round matchup with SAS or OKC

  3. blessing in disguise: CP doesn't have to do all that unnecessary all-star nonsense. rest, rest, rest. focus, focus, focus.

worries:

  1. blake and DJ can't create their own shot. time to worry?

  2. our bench just got that much more pathetic

This isn't true. No team wants to consistently be in the bonus

early in quarters. Also you don't want your starting center racking

up fouls and have to sit.

You say your a laker fan, but do you remember a guy

named shaq? Are you telling me he wasn't a threat to

any team?

Losing CP at this juncture really sucks. Even losing him for that one game with a hamstring problem sucked. Since we don't know the full extent of this latest injury, we're left with fearing and bracing for the worst. I really hope it's not a serious injury. Clippers need CP --- he is the maestro, the conductor, the floor general. He is vital to the overall success of the team and while the team can function without him, it won't be as effective. Thank goodness we have Doc, though. He and his coaches will find a way to work around this major loss and perhaps everyone on the team will step up and do more to compensate. Get well soon, CP!
