I know he can play 1-4 on offense but I wonder if he can guard power forwards in the west. Did he put on weights like odom that will enable him to bang with the bigs.

Hedo has been a bust since getting the big contract in Toronto and did not get any better when went back to Orlando with dwight, like most have said he is done n dusted, don't mind a 10day contract but please we do have enough junk to clear already, lets not add to the pile

No hatin, bro. But honestly, I dont see why the lakers would use Hedo. At least not this season. He probably gonna end up with a vet min offer just for this year. So if you want him with the purple and gold I d wait to the next season when the lakers build up another team via free agency and maybe nail a big FA

According to Brad Turner the clippers are back and forth on Byrum. Do you think that maybe Hedo might not have had a good work out yesterday. I would think that we would take one or the other not both.

Hedo signing is held up because Doc is waiting on someone like Lamar Odom or Andrew Bynum! To sign anyone we have to wait until one of the 10-Day Contracts expires! That Is what's holding....

I'm not sure Hedo can guard a position anymore. I'm not sure Hedo can make shots effectively anymore to be honest, but outside of the turnovers in 11-12, he wasn't that bad.

I mean he's always been a low FG% guy, so his 41.5% FGA wasn't uncharacteristically, but he did shoot 35.3% on 3's, which is okay, but lower than his career percentage. The only issue is that if anyone monitored his time as a Raptor, his biggest issue there production was was that he produced when the ball was in his hands, but he was not as effective without it. With that said, playmaking isn't required at any high level from him here if he's signed.

He's not the worst signing one could make, I mean we did sign Barnes who is essentially the same age for like 3 seasons. Of course like others said, it is probably better to wait and see the big man situation first.

"Clippers boss Doc Rivers indicated today that he'd like to sign Hedo Turkoglu soon, as Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times notes via Twitter"

Sounds like we may have Hedo signed going into the road trip. I do not think he will work well in the locker room.

why Hedo? I have to agree with someone here who said he will simply be another Stephen Jackson

Doc said he saw him making a lot of shots so maybe he can be a serviceable shooter

Between Jamison, Dudley and Barnes can't we cover the 10mins per game that Blake is on the bench? I don't get it. Get a damn center, we have nothing behind DJ. thankfully he's the most durable big in the league but you can't count on that forever. Hollins goes in and it doesn't matter who else is on the court, we immediately start to suck. I appreciate his effort and he's not a bad practice player but you can't go the whole season with this guy as your back up C.

If it's a 10 day contract fine, anything other else is a waste.

You can cut a 10-day anytime you want. There's nothing stopping Doc from signing Bynum or anybody except his own decision making. We need somebody to replace Hollins in the rotation, all other roster issues are secondary. But it seems Doc does not agree.

I don't have a problem with Hollins.

That is as the 3rd string center, not the 3rd big man off the bench. I think all of us agree with your frustration with the back up bigs, but I'm thinking maybe Doc has someone in mind. Maybe Shavlick or someone playing in China, Wilcox, Odom, or maybe Okafer once he comes back off injury.

I'm still confident that Doc knows he needs a reliable 3rd big, and his biding his time with what is available.

I agree this seems weird. But I wonder if all this is some chess-like strategy from Doc. Like somehow getting Hedo will lead to us letting somebody else go in favor of another a player in another position, etc.

Man I have been fan of turkoglu since his tenure in Orlando.. He was never fast so I don't expect he will loose much of his step since he never had one.. He is a baller and a clutch one for that matter.. If it was up to me.. Sing turkoglu instead of bynum

From what I've been reading it sounds like we are closing in on a deal. I'm relatively new to basketball so haven't had a chance to see much of Turkogls play.

Anyone willing to fill me in on how is is as a player and what is strengths/weaknesses are? Good defender is what I really want to know?

The reasoning with Turk is the following: He is kinda point forward, so he can take pressure of off Collison or another ball handler with playmaking skills. He is a so so shooter, a cerebral player. Not a good defender. Is like a taller Dudley, with worse defense, better playmaking skills and slightly worse shot but better rebounding and assisting.

Slightly worse? Dude shot 23% from the field and .042 from 3 last time he was in the league. Dudley despite playing though an injury and having one of his worst seasons is at 45/37. Turkoglu only managed to shoot 18% at Eurobasket this summer against sub-NBA level competition. Shoots slightly worse than Stephen Jackson might be a better comparison.

I know that his shot is f***ed right now. My comparison would be if the makes it up and is an actual player instead of a shell of himself. But I agree that if his shot is still jinxed, he is no use for anybody.

He looks like a Disney villain. He just seems like a weird fit for our young and cool team. He will be that guy no one wants to sit with on the plane.

If I understand this right, Hedo Turkoglu played in just 11 games last season with the Orlando Magic because of knee injuries and a 20 game suspension for using performance enhancing drugs. At the beginning of the 13-14 season the Orlando Magic told him not to even come to camp just stay way. My question is why would a team pay a player for half the season and not even let him sit of the side line? This for me is a Red Flag. Their most be something that we do not know or have hear. Also he has not play one minute this reason. If we sign him I hope it is just a 10 day contract. I would take my chances with Odom. He knows the players and they have said they would like to have him back of the team.

Doc usually tends to go after players he's gone up against in the playoffs. Examples: Bass, Redick, Lee, Barnes, Pietrus, Hedo.....wait....wait....wait....Doc is a Magic fan.

Maybe he's just sweating Bynum a little bit. We're looking at hedo hard. He looked great in workouts. i just like. So on and so on.

Just using him to get Bynum to come begging for a spot??? I don't know if I want Bynum but I do think Hedo is a stupid addition for this roster. So jamison is benched, Barnes gets less time and Hollins keeps getting his 12mins. Makes no sense.

Clippers might sign Hedo Turkoglu By Arash Markazi ESPNLosAngeles.com PLAYA VISTA, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Clippers could be signing veteran forward Hedo Turkoglu soon, coach Doc Rivers said Tuesday. "We could. We're looking at him strong. I can say that much," Rivers said. The Clippers brought in Turkoglu for a meeting and a workout Thursday and liked what they saw. The Clippers signed point guards Darius Morris and Maalik Wayns to 10-day contracts last week. Their deals will expire before the Clippers' start a 12-day, seven-game road trip Thursday, when Turkoglu potentially could sign. "He made shots from everywhere," Rivers said after the free agent's....

He could never play PG because the ability to play a position usually also includes being able to guard it, which he never could. He can play as a co-primary playmaker, he can play the 2-4 as actual positions, the 2/3 best before since he couldn't necessarily guard the 4 very well, but it is matchup dependent. Now he probably can't play the 2 anymore at his age, so 3/4.

I really don't mind him if he's healthy and in shape.

I'm not loving the idea of Turk, I must admit. Still, if it gives Blake some time off as point-forward, what harm could a 10-day do?

We sure as hell don't need both Wayns AND Morris.

10 day is the catch. As long as it doesn't prohibit us from signing a big do it. The benefit is a rotation that gives Dudley some rest

It sounds crazy but I'm alright with this if it happens. He's obviously not meant to be an answer at back up center. But maybe Doc is considering losing a backup SF or PF? There's gotta be something about Hedo that floats Doc's boat.

I sense this as more of a playoff move. In the playoffs both Blake & DJ will be playing around 40 minutes a game and maybe a back up big won't be that important for 8 minutes.

Hedo is versatile and can fill in for Barnes and Dudley if their shots aren't falling.

Read on twitter that pending a physical, Clips will sign Turkoglu for the rest of the season. I'm a little confused by this signing because the Clips needed a back up big more than they needed a point forward. I know Doc loves shooters but its tough to judge a player who hasn't played in over a year based off one workout. I'll assume that Doc is going to play a small line up with Turkoglu playing power forward. As far as needs go, Iwould have rather gave Odom another look instead of rushing to sign Hedo. I hope I'm wrong and Doc makes a good decision with this signing.

Well at least hero can handle the ball unlike Jared, Barnes and reggie. If his shot is there he could fit in really well. Not a bad rebounder either could play some backup PF

I just have a question:

When was the last time a 10 day contract or in this case a rest of season signing has ever lead a team to win a championship??

I may not know much about basketball, but what i do know is that when the Clippers win a tittle, it will because of Blake Griffin (not saying him alone, but when he becomes unstoppable.)
