I'd feel so much better about this signing if it was tried on a ten day contract first.

If Gary or Doc can unload Mullens somewhere they should be considered for GM of the year.

I am happy with Hedo signing

. Great job Doc. I think he will be a great asset to our squad. I have always liked hedo and I believe he wants to win. I think he will be a huge surprise. He is also a clutch 3 point shooter. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins 2-3 games for us. Also excited to have him for playoffs.

Welcome Hedo.

Horrible signing someone should be fired. This bum has been done for a while now.

Who you want to fire? Doc Rivers?

Haha your funny da11da, stop it. Fire Doc because he signed someone to a vet min deal, that worst case scenario it costs sterling some money and we cut him. I'm not super high on the signing, but really fire Doc or Gary. I would have preferred it be for 10 days first, and don't see why we couldn't do this with Bynum instead; but let's not go over the deep end and think this will make or break the team.

Should've used a ten day option.

I second both of these thoughts. Mistakes always happen. You will seldom see a GM that gets all acquisitions right. And prior to the start of the season Mullens looked like a decent signing and for cheap too. Still, now that we see it hasn't worked its up to Doc to find a way to ship him out and get something in return. If Doc does ship out Mullens then you are right it will speak wonders to his skills as a GM. So far what we can say is that he hasn't changed anything at 4th placed we are basically in the same position Vinny had us in

Maybe to some of you guys... Mullens has always been a bum. His stats all showed that he was bad, yet we gave him a player option?

I get a little frustrated, because I think we are one good big away from being locks for the finals. I don't think it's Bynum, but if we could get a back up big that could play 20 solid minutes backing up our bigs we would be set. I think Okafor would be perfect, I also think Jamison wouldn't be such a liability.

We might be a solid wing defender away too, but I think we are really close. An Ariza type player I think would be perfect (obiously price would have to be a factor), and if we could get someone solid or even an up and comer big to back up our guys we would be set. I like the Plumlee brothers, and think maybe we can find someone in the D-league.

Everyone has the right to there opinion.. But how does signing hedo to a already deep roster worth firing.. Hopefully this is not related to us staying away from bynum.. Imho .. Hedo is better then Jamison at what doc wants so I see his strategy.

some of you guys...that includes Doc Rivers. Doc thought highly enough to get him. Moves don't always work out and even some of the best stats won't always reveal if a player will thrive on a team. I stand by Docs decision even though it ended up turning out bad with Mullens. But for every failure there is success. Give Doc credit for Redick and Collison who have been playing great, and whom I also suggested would be great fits here.

Mullens has pretty good raw tools and is pretty young, so I think he was worth trying out as a fixer upper, even if he failed in the end. His defensive rebounding rate was good last year, so were his at the basket finishing numbers, he's got good size and his three point shooting while a work in progress showed promise. Problem was his bad traits, like shot selection, speed of thought, quickness and general defensive ability were too much to make for or fix in fairly short time or perhaps ever.

Collinson and Redick were easy picks, as they had good numbers to back them up for their designed rolls on the team. So the odds for them to fit and be productive were fairly high. Mullins didn't, weather Doc "thought" highly of him or not. Bad move and Doc knows it.

Hope Hedo doesn't fall into that category, but I would't bet on it.

I am not hype on it YET! Could be deadly come playoff time! I am starting to see Doc realizes that the Mullens-Jamison experiments didn't work out as planned! In the game against Dallas last I....

Turkoglu at PF?? He's to weak to guard the bigger guys and to slow to guard the smaller guys. Turkoglu will make ZERO positive impact.

Please god no Odom at Center or if at all. It did not work last year and it won't work this year. We need a center with length!

this is out of context. I love doc's use of time outs, his substitutions, and overall skills to motivate. in my opinion he is far better than vinny, my comment is simply to point out that so far he hasn't accomplished anything different than Vinny has accomplished. until playoffs and a farther push is made we can't say doc has accomplished anything here yet

Odom has good length, he's as long as a lot centers. Odom was terrible on offense last year, but he was legit on the defense, he was mobile enough to be active, long enough to challenge shots, made good decisions and still managed to get into possession to rebound. We were something like 9-10 points per 100 possession better on defense with him on the floor last year. If he can play at the level again this year he'd be great, but he's also about as unreliable as anyone.

Team needs to invest a second rounder on a euro big. Don't know why we traded the guy we drafted this last draft in second round.

Who was the guy last season that ended every sentence with exclamation points? I'm thinking CP3best aka The CTB Mascot. That kid could throw down 200 posts a day without a problem. Is he still around?

Kyle, I like your enthusiasm but word of advice, stick with periods. I read your posts and picture you running around, jumping jacks, popping ritalin and so on...Repeatedly yelling eureka! in public and scaring the children. Things of this nature. None of those things are appropriate and neither is overuse of exclamation points.

I'm not a fan of this signing. We needed a big man who a could play either the 4 or 5 and Hedo is too big and slow for the 3 but not really big or physical enough for the 4. Not mention, we needed a forward who can grab some rebounds so we've had so much trouble on the glass recently. Hopefully Hedo proves me wrong and can actually do a decent job at the PF.

Let me ask everyone something. Tell me a team that we would be in trouble without a 3rd big. I think we're fine with how Doc run it. He really never have a 3rd big during his run in Boston.

Being a great coach doesn't necessarily mean great GM, as long as he learns from his mistakes. If he goes out and signs another Mullens type, then that is a problem, but everything objective suggested Mullens would be bad. Everything objective and even subjective suggested Redick and Collison would be good, so those are easy pickings.

Still, it's just about improving for him in the role, and if it isn't the best for him, being willing to give it up, and the Clippers going after one of these "accountant" that seem to know how to put together basketball teams very well.

Leon Powe and Glen Davis, then P.J. Brown took Davis' minutes later in the season and in the playoffs. Powe was highly productive before his knees exploded, and I mean HIGHLY productive in his minutes, helped them win that championship. That was in their championship year that they had those guys.

The next year KG was out later in the season. 09-10 they had Rasheed and Glen Davis. I think a solid third big man certainly seems to help teams.

LAL: Odom

DAL: Haywood

OKC: Nick Collison

SAS: Diaw / Bonner (Spliiter / Bonner the previous year)

Miami: Andersen

CHI: Gibson

A lot of the recently successful teams in both conferences have had a big they could give 15 MPG to and not feel like things were going to tank. So I'd say it's pretty useful.

Hollins has played pretty well. How many roster spots left? Hedo is washed up but we do need another #3. If we can find the roster space Odom is our best bet. He has a center's wingspan, he can run the point and he WAS a good rebounder which is something we lack on the bench. Jamison is too old too fat and too slow. I hope not but he may be Grant Hill redux. I don't think he can stop a homeless guy who's pushing a shopping cart. Against LAL he had three wide open corner bingos and he missed them all.

What if Hollins gets hurt? There's DJ and then there's DJ then maybe Mullens.

My thoughts exactly reading that post was like having someone shouting in my ear

I'm on the fence on hedo, he 'used' to be a good all rounder, but current form no idea, he kind of just fell of the earth the last few seasons, he could end up being dudv2.0, lets hope not

My concern with Hedo is his character and physical stability....both involving his PED use. Look at baseball players, how often do they perform at the same level 'after' a suspension and cleaning up. Add to that, he cheated.

No idea why he haven't dumped Jamison yet. There has to be better choices out there....

Agree about Bynum. Major personality issue, but with Paul and Doc, he might have enough 'parental supervision' to stay in line. Besides, would be nice to have a big with such a good low post game. DJ has next to zero game with his back to the basket.

Liked the step back by Hedo tonight and he looked energetic. We really could use another C now with post moves.

You mean we could use 'a' center with post moves.....DJ always seems to fake one way than try to dunk it, regardless of how far out he is.

Very limited minutes, but he didn't look bad. I was shocked frankly, considering how long it took for Jax to hit his first shot.
