Before the season, I felt that deandre and blake could never coexist. Now, I am starting to believe I was wrong. Both of them need to be great in the playoffs for me to decide one way or the other. But maybe not having a stretch 5 has been a blessing for blake. It has forced him to really become well rounded, and with blake at the elbow, it puts deandre in a great spot. Plus their insane athleticism is utterly unique and separates us. I'm just so happy with DJ's improvement, although the free throw thing still kills me, and I have a gut feeling it will impact any playoff push. He needs to keep working on it.

They might be the best frontcourt tandem in the league right now.

When JJ and Chris get back they we will be in contention for best backcourt tandem.

I am definitely liking the tandem, and think it's continue to get better as they both improve. I think that DJ will continue to improve defensively and might be able to show some post moves next season. Doc will probably have him solidify himself as a Defender first then go from their. Then you can say the opposite about Blake, but he is an offensive superstar, I think Doc will have him prove himself as an offensive juggernaut. Once he does that he can then focus on more detailed oriented stuff like post moves. I think the defense will continue to grow while they keep mastering the system and trusting each other to rotate correctly.

The one thing that I wish we had on the team, is a great big man coach (preferably an ex great big man, Mutumbo or Oakley for DJ, Webber or Bill Walton for Blake). I think @Voyeur and a few others have mentioned this as well. I think that would be a great help to their progression going forward. I think Walton would make the most sense and can teach both a lot on both ends of the court. To top it off he played for us too.

I would LOVE to have Bill Walton on our team because he can teach both Blake & DJ so much.

I agree they need a veteran big man to coach them - maybe Garnett if he retires?

Like that they continue to play off each other and hope Doc draws more plays using both. Some plays I want to see more of:

Blake-High pick and roll with both rolling to the basket or Blake mid-range J, Blake pin down to get Jordan cutting to the basket, and defensive rebounds where both bigs run next to the ball handler looking for a quick bucket or hockey assist.

Jordan-Quick post pass and Blake cutting, Jordan top of the key pass to Blake in the post for spin lob (play used more last season and Baron era), and Jordan clear out for Blake and rim run more after the shot.

Deandre is a hundred percent the X factor. We look less than great defensively without him. He is a steadying presence.

I would like Sir Charles to coach them.

I mentioned this in another thread but I'm loving that they are already the 3rd best rebounding duo (for a team with 2 guys averaging more than 10 rebs each) since 1980-81.

If charles barkley coached them i guarantee he wouldn't talk smack anymore and he would actually know what he was talking about in regards to blake and dj

I don't know if I would like Sir Charles to coach them, I loved his game when he was in the NBA; but I still have a bad taste when Scottie joined forces with him and seemed to be less than impressed with his work ethic and drive. On top of that I would prefer someone that

Bill Walton makes sense to me because of him playing here, and his overall game. Moses Malone could count too I guess if we are taking into account the one year he had in Buffalo. They both could be just as much help to DJ as Blake, but a lot of the other guys that I would like here have jobs elsewhere. Alonzo, Ewing, Olajuwon, and McHale all work for other organizations, while all the others really don't have any type of history with us at all such as Mutombo, Kareem, The Admiral, or any of these guys. Maybe we can bring a Camby to coach them up, but would prefer a player with a bit more clout.
