Great article! I think he has been playing so well, and it's great that he still wants to improve. I've noticed that he was a bit more vocal in the game against the Celtics, and think he will grow a lot during this time with CP.

I think he has been on the bad end of some bad foul calls these last few games that he has been on a tear. If it weren't for these calls I think his numbers would be even better.

Found these quotes by Kris Humphries funny

Gary Washburn: Kris Humphries on dunk by Blake Griffin: "We're still debating if that's actually a dunk when you don't touch the rim at all."

Gary Washburn: Humphries on Griffin: "It was like a volleyball play. Obviously he makes those kind of plays if you come late defensively"

In my completely biased opinion I think theses players will be the best in the world in 3 years.

  1. LBJ

  2. Durant

  3. Blake

  4. George

  5. Cousins

  6. Paul

  7. Love

  8. Curry

  9. Harden

  10. Lillard

Blake's game is starting to turn into an unstoppable force. There's not much he can't do right now, but soon his decision making and aggressiveness will become polished and take him to a whole 'nother level.

I'll be real proud of Cousins if he gets there, cause right now his defense is pretty poor. He's doing much better this season in terms of not missing so much.

Think Blake has another shot at Western Conference Player of the Week? Rebounding is not too impressive, but everything else is:

-3-0 record for the week (without CP3)

-26 points on 63% shooting, 72% FT, 8.7 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals!

I suppose he has tough competition from Durant, Harden and Aldridge.

Great read. Wow didn't know Griffin was 14th in PPP (points per possession) in the post this year. Also.look.at his.shot chart.

I actually like this list. But George and Cousins over Chris Paul in his prime?? No way.

That's a nice article. I don't agree that Aldridge and Love are in a separate class than BG however. I don't agree with that at all.

How is 10 RPG not impressive? Especially when he has a teammatebwho averages 13 a game?

So LaMarcus is worse than Blake in FG% by a lot, worse of a passer, not as good of a defender....but since he gets 0.5 more rebounds a game he's in a totally different class than Blake? Alrighty then

If anything the top 3 PF's are Blake, Love and Davis with LMA in the 2nd tier.....but I think all 4 of them are in the top tier IMO.

I'm impressed. I'm saying I'm not sure if the NBA folks will be impressed with the 8.7 boards for the week...but all the other stats may supersede that.

I don't really see much of an argument for LMA being better than Blake. He rebounds better(only this season) since he plays with Robin Lopez. If he played with DJ he would probably grab 9 boards. He is a terribly inefficient scorer. The good thing is he rarely turns the ball over but Blake is the superior passer and a much more efficient scorer.

Blake attacks the rim way more, draws a lot more fouls, is a much better finisher and normally is a better rebounder. LMA is the better jump shooter by a good margin but he settles for jumpers way too much and doesn't go inside enough and he is better at taking care of the ball. They are both above average but not great defenders.

Overall, Blake is honestly the better player and more valuable to his team. When the Blazers don't hit their 3s they aren't so hot.

Blake's January numbers are off the chain!

6 games (5 wins, 1 loss): 25.5 points, 57% FG, 10 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.5 steals!

I'm so happy for blake, I hope this upward trajectory cot I uses I to the post season. I remember the line for earlier this season that we wouldn't be true contenders until blake was the best player on the team...he is getting there. I need to see now he does on the road against better competition.

Hopefully Blake doesn't go on a cold streak during our big road-trip, because if he stays hot we could gain some serious momentum after a good trip.

Interestingly, Blake's put up big numbers against strong teams like SA, Houston, Miami, GS. Portland...it's been others who've had problems stepping up. But I think that was while we still hadn't hit our groove defensively.

I agree, they are all in the top tier, and even Dirk still, and Duncan was better than all last season. his rate of production was really crazy, but he hasn't been as good this season.

Maybe father time will finally catch up to him.

Yea Dirk is definitely up there. He is having a near 50/40/90 season and leading a fairly mediocre Mavs team to the playoffs.

So, the Milwaukee Journal just called Blake the NBA player of the week. So if some random news source thinks so, that may bode well for Blake's Player of the Week chances. Man, I hope so. I'd love to see him win his 3rd this season. That would make one every month, wouldn't it?

He deserves it. People might just start working out he does more than just dunk if he carries on at this rate!

You know what? I take it back. Kevin Love is in a separate class from Blake. Love's class is a mediocre record every year. My bad.

Why is espn so invested in putting blake on the trading block? This summer it was for dwight, and then that Carmelo thing. What? Are they just going to run trade stories until the clippers are convinced? Very odd.

LaMarcus Aldridge is a better defender than Blake Griffin as Blake does a lot of ball watching. But now that Blake is not afraid to shoot from the outside he can become the elite player on offense. Plus in the end it's a team game and the Clippers have Chris Paul and a championship winning coach.

LOL! LMA is notorious for not being a good defender. He's certainly not better than Blake. By that measure, everyone is guilty of ball watching occasionally. LMA blocks more shots, but he is practically a 7-footer.

@ClippersDA other than the page views they get from it, I think it is the most believable to the casual basketball fan since all he does is dunk (that is sarcasm there so don't attack). Since Blake has so many detractors and even here in So Cal we have to hear how he is so limited and so on, it would be believable.

For us Clipper fans that actually have seen his constant growth and improvement, as well as watching him take over games lately hear these rumors and know that they are absurd rumors. I think most of us Clipper fans would only trade Blake if we can bring a younger MJ back from the 90's bulls.

I would love for someone on ESPN to call out Chris Broussard, it would be hilarious to have someone from the same network get tired of this crap.

So looking at the other West teams that went undefeated this week, SA, SAC, DEN...Duncan and Parker were solid for SA but didn't put up the numbers Blake did. Same goes for Faried and Lawson in DEN. I think Blake's stiffest competition for West player of the week is Demarcus Cousins. However, other than rebounding and blocks, Blake's points, shooting %, assists and steals all are more impressive than Cousins. Looks pretty good for BG...fingers crossed!

Yea but I think that is more of a political move. They are desperately trying to clean up his image as he is probably going to be the best center in the league in the next 3 years.

Great. First Cousins takes out our starting shooting guard for 21 games. Now he steals Blake's 3rd Western Conference award.

They probably felt weird about giving it to him again so soon. Plus cousins did dominate and have a no loss week as well.

Sure Paul has a chance. Once he gets back. However, if the Clippers end up playing well without him, I wonder if it may hurt his chances?

None. No way can he win when he has missed 20 or so games against LBJ and Durant. It was tough enough before he got injured.

ClippersDA wrote:

At this point he won't win so lets hope so. Rather have HCA in the playoffs. I think Paul would rather have a chance at a ring and a Finals MVP over an MVP anyway.

I remember Tony Parker missed a decent amount of games last season and was still ranked pretty high in MVP voting. Or maybe that was pre-injury, can't remember. I just think now that we're past the toughest part of our schedule, and the team's still playing very well w/o cp3. So when he comes back, we still got a decent shot being at top of the west.

CP3Heliflopter

He didn't miss as many games and he did drop down quite a lot. By the end of the season Paul will be anywhere from 3-5 but no higher due to missed games and because Lebron and Durant are just that good. In order for him to beat Durant or Lebron the Clippers need to have similar team success to the Thunder and Heat and Paul has to be healthy for most of the season and put great numbers. So far he has fulfilled the great numbers part and that is it.

Cp3 really never had a chance of being mvp this season anyway.

Not because he is not good enough, but people just don't respect

the clippers as a contending franchise yet.

If we make it to the finals this year and Cp3 balls he

will have a great shot at winning it the following year.
