Did I say every NBA player is a thug?
Not at all... I implied that Cousins is a thug.
Even in this article (which is basically half love-letter, half excuse for his past behavior), the author concedes that he is "petulant" and "a tyrant". Combine those traits with his intimidating physique, his limited intellectual capacity and the fact that young black men are incarcerated at a disproportionately higher rate than any other segment of the population, and I don't think my assertion is unrealistic in the least.
There is a damn good reason he slipped in the draft. People didn't want to deal with his attitude...
"When DeMarcus Cousins entered the league, he demeaned coaches, fought with teammates, and argued with referees."
"The school suspended Cousins for the second half of his sophomore season following a physical altercation with a bus driver."
If you took away his basketball skills, that type of demeanor would be much more of a hindrance in real life than the "attribute" that some may perceive it to be in a competitive sporting arena. As unjust as it may be, statistics clearly indicate that angry young black men who don't possess a skill that society values... get locked up.
I stand by my statement.
