I've kinda been saying this since the start of the season, but Jamal puts it quite nicely:

http://www.orangeville.com/sports-story ... ence-ross/

Redick - 16.4 points, .464 FG, .374 3FG, .917 FT, 2.1 Reb, 2.3 Ast, .8 Steals, 1.1 TO's

Crawford - 17.9 points, .413 FG, .364 3FG, .835 FT, 2.3 Reb, 3.1 Ast, .8 Steals, 1.9 TO's

I was giving him a hard time for his twitter controversy before the season. It looks like he accepts his role on the team and I'll eat crow and apologize.

Numbers don't lie.

And there is a strong case here for the best as far as complimenting each other.

Having a starting 2 guard who plays off the ball really well, and the other playing extremely well with the ball in his hands is a great 1-2 punch.

We have the best guard tandem in the league by a mile too.

CP3/Collison Redick/Crawford

We can make an argument for best PG and SG tandem.

Problem is our SF tandem sucks. Blake Griffin and DJ are great but their backups are D league caliber.

Were strong at the 1, the 2, the 4, and this season the 5. If we can strengthen at the 3 and back up the 4 and 5 properly then we are really ballin'. Easier said than done though.

I wouldn't Call Turk Dleague Caliber. He actually is filling the backup 4 quite nicely.

Doc probably will use Turk and keep Blake Or DJ on the floor at all times.

Redick is possibly the best 3 point shooter we have had since Steve Novak.

A PF shooting 36% and not a good defender is pretty terrible. Somehow though he's been better than all of Jackson, Mullens and Jamison.

He wasn't going to give us anything though. Signings like this one and Steven Jackson were exactly what we should have expected. I still don't understand this signing by Doc or the Jamison one for that matter. We aren't using Mullens or Jamison at all, so we should honestly be looking to move these guys. Mullens has been horrible, but his deal is only $1 mill per year for 2 years so we should find some takers there who are looking to get out from a long contract and rebuild.

Not to get off my own topic, but I don't think we could expect Turk to jump right in and score better than 36% out the gate. The fact he hit his first couple of baskets was a surprise, to be honest. But Turk is kinda passing my eye test. His activity, defense, rebounding and jumper all look sharper than Jax and maybe even Jamison. Not to mention his ability to pass. It's enough to make me at least somewhat intrigued.

I think someone brought this up in another thread but Turkoglu resembles the Odom from last year: low scoring, but provides rebounding and passing. He hasn't been atrocious, but he's been about what I expected at a low cost signing. We should really expect much from him.

It's like Mullen, Jamison, Hollins or any of these guys though. We would all like them to do better, but chances are we can't rely on them to have good performances. If we are relying on the to be difference makes then we are in trouble. There's a reason why these guys get paid the little that they do.

Love the SG combo of JJ and JC they give the much needed double edge scoring we lacked with the injured Billups. If we can get Dudley flowing with the second unit and a upgrade back up C before the break things will run great. Even if Dudley falls flat Bullock built some strong chemistry with Crawford and Collison with the second unit.

The best thing about turk is he 90% makes the right play, he doesn't try to force anything, he just plays with the natural flow of the game and that helps not cause problems

I have to admit that I do like the tandem. I have always wanted us to get a bigger two guard, and though I liked both of these guys still wanted at least one bigger guard. Offensively these guys will work any other two guard combo, since they are so good at what they do. I don't think I see anyone else runs so well off of screens and be so active like JJ. I think Jamal has the sickest handles in the NBA by far.

Defensively they have been playing slightly better than expected; but still see them as a liability on the defensive end.

As I said before Jamal and JJ are the Ying and Yang of nba sgs. They are at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of how they play but we need what each brings .

I agree... jj and jamal are quite a dual and love seeing them in action either them taking turns or together.

By them doing what they do, allows Blake and Chris to score more easy.

glad I read through, was about to post exact same words. High BB IQ, experience does a lot for a guy. As well as he's been playing, you hope he can get into better shape, get that vertical jump above 3" and he'll be a good player for us.

Just like Lamar last year (at least for me), even with the lack of offense and lack of athletism, you just feel comfortable with them on the court.

I think the same thing. Lamar was an excellent basketball player. He never forced scoring and he just let it come to him by rebounding and putting it back up. I wish we could sign Odom

Could he play C with Collison Crawford Barnes and Turkoglu on the floor? Does Turko take more minutes at the 3 and Odom at the 4 and DJ or Hollins at the 5?

It seems Doc has fallen out of Favor with Dudley Hollins Jamison and We all have fallen out of favor with Mullens - Probably worst signing for a contender this offseason

Haha, so true, best guard tandem, one of the best starting PF's, pretty good C, but below average SF tandem and then just awful backup big men.

This team is just balancing out the roster away from being REALLY REALLY good. Right now, when healthy the team is REALLY good. Gotta get that second one in there.

Even fat Odom and Turiaf are way better than Jamison, Hollins and Mullens.

Turiaf is ok on the right system/team. He wasn't that much better than Hollins last year. Doc's system is different from last year, so I would take a shot if he is available.

Bring back Odom, and hope for a team that falls out of the playoff race to make players available/buy them out. KMart, Haywood, Okafor,Turiaf, Stiesma (played decent with Doc in Boston) etc...

Hollins ain't that bad. Jamison is this year's Grant Hill. One year too many. I hope I'm wrong because he can't hit his toe. Neither could Hill. As far as Odom he was a good rebounder but Lawler commented several times how much better the offense flowed with Hill instead of Odom. Dudley may be second unit because the second unit has all the offense something offensive.

Collison and CP3 are arguable the best PG tandem but this is problematic. Collison is too good to get limited minutes behind CP3. Unless Doc plans on a lot of three guard sets his talents are wasted. Wouldn't it be nice if we were paying him maybe $6 mill so we could trade him for a good SF. In reality he's worth maybe $3 mill easy if his present playing is an example.

No it wouldn't be good to be paying him $6M (if you mean $6M/year) because we can't trade him for a good SF since no one would give one up for Collison. There's a plethora of cheap good enough PG's that no one is willing to pay $6M for Collison right now, let alone trade a good SF for him. So you're right, he's worth like $3M, maybe more depending on the team, he's $1M off that, which isn't crazy. We would just be stuck paying way to much for a guy who will get about 14 MPG as a backup when Paul is healthy.

If we really wanted to get enough contract money in a deal involving Collison to get a SF, you just package him with Dudley or Barnes, but then who is the teams backup PG. You're not getting back the same value as Collison in any other available backup PG.

Turiafs defense was slight years ahead of Hollins last year. He is definitely an upgrade in that area.
