Confused

Wouldn't make sense if true with Paul back in days unless JJ is more hurt than led on or Collison needs to be shut down.

Maybe Doc is signing Vujacic to give Dudley some rest.Makes some sense since he moved Dudley to the bench and has him playing less minutes.Dudley knee will only heal with time.

What the Clippers need is a backup center with experience.Trade Dudley and let Turk play at the 3 and 4 once he gets in 100 % shape. And Matt Barnes would come off the bench as a defensive stopper because it will give Jamaal the freedom to be offensive leader of the second unit.

@WindhorstESPN: The Pacers gave Andrew Bynum $1 million for the rest of season from their mid-level exception, according to a source. BS. Money was never an issue. He would have played for LA if we brought him in. I'm surpised we didn't bring him in for a workout atleast and meet with him. I have a feeling all Bynum wanted to do was win and that didn't happen in Cleveland and he wanted out. I have a bad feeling Bynum will turn into their own version of Chris Anderson. Before you know it Odom and Ivan Johnson will be swept from....

Think if anything happens to Barnes or Dudley Bullock steps in to cover the bench role. Doc already showed it in one stretch and the second time Bullock was hurt alongside Barnes. Was thinking it had to be JJ having nagging injuries.

I just can't believe this. We are in need of a defensive big and we sign Hedo, and now this. Does Doc not see what we are seeing or is he really that convinced that this team can cover our front court deficiencies with adding another guard to log jam the back court. I just do not get these signings.

Luol Deng is reportedly unhappy in Cleveland and his gonna be unrestricted next year. Any chance we can land him? Having Deng would really solve our SF back up and make us a favorite.

Could be a multitude of reasons. Most likely a trade is in the works.

Maybe Jamal is on his way out along with Mullens for a high quality backup center. That's in the region of $7,000,000 we could take back in salary.

In the playoffs, a guard rotation of CP3, Collison and Redick could get it done. Sasha is a decent defender and could also play the 3 in a pinch.

I'd hate to see Jamal go, but the possibilities are intriguing.

Either way, I doubt that Doc is bringing in guards just for sh*ts and giggles.

If Doc did this he is the dumbest GM ever. If Jamal left

so would our Bench Scoring and the top 4th qtr scorer

in the league. Replacing Jamal who plays 28-30min

with a 15min back up big is beyond retarded.

That would leave us absolutely no scoring off the bench.

No Jamal no Championship.

In the playoffs, we don't have 30 minutes for Jamal. CP3 is gonna play 36, JJ is getting at least 30 and Collison will likely take the rest, swinging between the 1 and 2 spots. Doc literally has to find minutes for our guards, while he can't find any minutes to rest Blake and DJ.

We DO have 25-30 minutes available for a big man... if he can handle them. And who is to say we won't bring in a post-scorer to replace Jamal's points?

No team uses a complete 2nd unit in the postseason. It's all about putting the best 5 players you can on the floor for all 48 minutes... usually an 8 or 9 man rotation. Four of our top 6 players are guards... that's not good balance.

As much as I love having him, Crawford is a luxury... our current backup bigs are liabilities. I'd be prepared to let JC go at the right price.

Your theory doesn't make any sense. Crawford is one of the top scorers on the team... And most clutch. There are times when we play Cp3 - Reddick - Crawford together. Which is a great lineup.

You don't have to "Find minutes" for Crawford. He is going to play the same rotation he is playing now. Coming in at the 6 minute mark.

Crawford is one of the MAIN reasons our offense is so good. You don't take away your firepower and most clutch guys to replace him with mediocre talent and think you are going to be "Just as good".

^ LOL... Where are we going to find 36-40mpg for CP3 in this "same rotation" in the playoffs?

I love Crawford... I've advocated keeping him all season long, but we have a huge gaping hole in the front court and only turds to fill it. There's an old saying: "if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys". Crawford's is the only decent sized contract we could exchange for a legit big. We've all seen what minimum wage buys these days.

Once again... FOUR OF OUR TOP SIX PLAYERS ARE GUARDS. That is not going to get it done against bigger teams like OKC, MEM (who are coming on strong again) and basketball gods willing, Indiana in the finals.

I actually feel better that word is NOT out.

If a secret's being kept, it's usually something juicy.

Jamal is good enough that somebody might take a scrub off our hands just to get him (cough, Mullens). His contract is also only partially guaranteed for the next 2 years, so he's low risk for any team to trade for.

He makes $5,225,000 and Mully makes $2,250,000... that's $7.5million. If I understand trade rules correctly, we can take back 125% of that... over $9,000,000!!!

That's a nice chunk of change to get a really good quality big man and we'd still have a rotation of 3 excellent guards for the playoffs... plus Willie, Reggie and maybe Vujacic. And that's just one scenario. Maybe nobody wants Mullens, but they're interested in Crawford/Dudley... even MORE salary we can take back, so maybe we get a big man and a wing prospect. The possibilities are endless!

I'm pretty confident that some HUGE news is going to drop in the next 18 days, and I'm pretty excited to find out what it is. Vujacic is just the overture.

Can we afford to get rid of Jamal though? I honestly think he's what separates us from OKC, POR, HOU, GSW...etc

How many teams have a player who can give them 18 pts and create his own shot coming off the bench? That's rare

Obviously we need a backup big, but I say no on the idea of trading Jamal unless we are getting an all but GARUNTEE difference maker big man.

^ Pretty much my point, mate. I don't want to let go of him unless it's for something really special up front.

Right now I feel like our team is like that guy who owns two Ferraris, but can barely make the rent payments on his studio apartment.

In the playoffs, we'll still have a guy who can drop 18 and create his own shot for up to 40 minutes per game... CP3.

What we don't have is any contingency plan at all for an injury or foul trouble to Blake or DJ. And with guys like Ibaka, Randolph, Bogut, and ultimately West and Hibbert waiting to get a piece of them... that is SCARY!

Deng will command double digit millions, so probably not.

Most logical role for Sasha to take is Willie's, so maybe a small trade with Willie going out will happen, someone like Gustavo Ayon

A couple of games ago he played under 10 minutes for like 5 games, so I thought he was falling out, but the last 5 he's played 20+ In each, so scratch that idea. Maybe a different player, lol

Sasha will need to time to get in the groove of things, so they are probably picking him up now also as an insurance policy if they are going to be moving someone during the trade deadline. The most logical conclusions is possibly Barnes, Dudley or Green. I think they are pretty comfortable with everyone else and would only move them if something crazy came along.

Hollins, Jamison and Mullens are irrelevant except to help match contracts, they won't be the centerpiece of any trade.

I'm not up to date on PHX's money situation, but if they trade for Pau maybe they might need a 3rd team to take a player off their hands. C'mon Frye or one of the Morris twins. Wishful thinking, I know.

Agent0

I doubt they move Frye or split up the twins, but it's very well documented how much I like Frye, so I would love it. I don't think they would plan on re-signing Gasol, so they probably don't want to loose other guys to accommodate for him. Position wise, they probably want to use him at C and mix him with Plumlee, but who knows. The spacing at the 4 is very beneficial for their two slashing guards, so they don't want to take that away.

Greg Smith on Houston could be decent, very cheap, only played 11 games this season at 9 MPG. The question is how to convince them to send him over. None of the Clippers players makes sense for them, so really it would be like a second round pick or something, but he does have to be re-signed, does he still make $900K? Do you want to keep him past the season, because if not, you don't want to waste your pick.

Lately, but only problem here is that he isn't really a C, but another option is Hansbrough who has lost his spot in the rotation to Patterson on the Raptors. He's an improvement over the current guys, but would be good to get a guy more suited for C.

Maybe we can try Marcus Douthit who is currently playing in the Philippines just my two cents he was a former lakers pick. a 6'11" center in Gilas Pilipinas who will play in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

"Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers, on the other hand, signed Douthit and Jamaican professional basketball player Kimani Ffriend in the 200708 NBA season, including them in the team's training camp roster.[11] After not playing in the first two preseason games of the team, Douthit was waived by the Clippers." from his wiki

I was told by a source that Clips are trying to trade Dudley for a big. And there is interest for him.

BTW, this source also told me about the Sasha signing 2 days before Brad Turner reported it.

I think the key to getting anything for Dudley is trading him to team that doesn't really care about competing this year (so they don't care that he's hurt this year) and want to shed salary and have a useful big with a contract bigger than Dudley. There are two teams that I found fit this the Bulls with Taj Gibson and the Bucks with Zaza. Most other teams are either fighting for the playoffs and want to keep their players or don't have anything we need or contracts that fit, but maybe I missed a team or two.

Zaza I don't think is even worth trading for, I'd rather rest Dudley, see if he's better playoff time and try to get by with a scrap heap big like Odom or Johnson. Gibson I do think is realistic, because trading him for Dudley+Green+Jamison would save the Bulls over 3 million on the cap next year and if they amnesty Boozer they could sign a max free agent, it also would save them the last year of Gibson's big contract.

Gibson would be a dream scenario. He's exactly what the Clips need. Not sure if Chicago would just be interested in saving cap. May ask for a pick as well.

Trade Dudley and an another player for a rebounding big and let Matt Barnes come off the bench. And let Trkoglu start with the first unit. He can handle the ball and play with Griffin pickn pop or with DJ pickn roll this will let Redick to open shots.

1 Unit

DJ

Griffin

Turk

Redick

Chris Paul (when he is healthy)

2 Unit

Hollins

New Pf

Barnes

Crafword

Collison

Turkoglu's doing great and all, but I see absolutely no reason for him to be part of the starters. And who would this player you want to trade with Dudley be? Mullens? Jamison? If the Clippers want to get a quality big or small forward, they're going to have to actually give something up. Probably Crawford.

I'd rather trade Barnes than Dudley at this point. Dudley is younger and we know he's having physical problems at least, but Barnes is just straight playing like crap and making a lot dumb plays.

For whatever reason the trade machine has Vujacic at his 2011 salary rather than his 10 day contract salary. It is obviously very wrong, trading him for Turner would not come remotely close to working.
