My mind is boggled still by how steeply Blake's rebounding numbers have fallen off. It negates his offensive improvements. I'm really annoyed we resorted to jump shots after he led that comeback in the second quarter. He is our best player and needs to take the most shots.

They game exposed a lot of issues. No small forward contribution. No team length. JJ can't handle athletic defenders. Need a back up center

As I've said before, it's because Doc doesn't want Blake rebounding right now it seems. Seems like Doc wants him to leak out and play a point forward sort of game instead of hanging around the rim.

His rebounds are so empty, too. His numbers are only looking better on paper because he actually plays in 4th quarters now. Other than that, I don't see a big change in DJ's game.

I've noticed that good things don't usually happen when JJ drives. He turns the ball over a lot.

I almost see rebounding as an offense statistic. It signals

The beginning of a possession. I think it has little to do with defense and no idea why it is counted as such. Dj is not a good defender. He doesn't have the focus. I think he could have undiagnosed ADD

Aww give it up people was a bad game we move on to the next one. The team overall needs to step up on D they were attacking JJ and Barnes could only foul.

Only player that really tried on both ends was Collison and even he got burned by Curry on some straight one on one plays.

A lot of teams are killing us on second chance points. We have to have someone else securing the rebound

Funny u say that. I tell all my friends that he process time is too slow. By the time he reacts to a play it's too late

In only 13 days if I'm not mistaken. Who the hell is in charge of making the schedule?

You don't lead the league in rebounding without grabbing some significant rebounds...

One loss we will bounce back with a day rest at home against a tanking Utah. Denver should be tough but much more manageable.

I'd like to live in the world of the people excusing this loss, but then I look at the schedule and see no quality wins since December 16th. I'm just tired of getting embarrassed against contenders.

How does this even makes sense by your own statement rebounding is a defensive statistic as well. If offense starts with a rebound it automatically ends the defensive stand. If you don't rebound we get beat even worse on second chance points not to mention on the offensive glass.

On top of that if DJ is not rebounding who else is? Our second best player had 3! There is no way rebounding can be empty when we are not getting enough rebounds as is on this team.

I just watch the second half and I noticed that they have fire look sluggish, maybe they need to recharge.

Are we going to ignore the fact that every single time we played a great team since then its been on a SECOND game of a back to back without Chris Paul?

Lets look at the two games we loss on the road with Paul.

Dec 25 @Golden State- No Redick and they had to bush league into getting Blake ejected to win.

Dec 26@Portland- No Redick fought our ass off and had a chance at the end and yes we had a mental lapse and loss but we fought damn hard.

This is a great team that has yet to come close to even peaking.

Ok fine only contested rebounds should count. I don't count a ball falling into your hands as defense. Rebounding alone is not a sign of being a great defender - see kevin love. They are important but if 8/10 times the other team waltzes to the rim, who cares if you grab the other two rebounds

This is a tough loss I understand we are all upset. We need to relax and our guys need some rest and get a confidence beat down on the Utah Jazz at home.

I'm starting to have fun watching the Clippers play on national tv. It's nice to see this weird type of basketball that they always seem to play on tnt/espn/abc/nba tv. It's like they completely forget about their system on offense (ex. someone brings up the ball, passes to JJ, JJ passes it back then proceeds to run around one or two screens or when they use that double screen they use underneath the basket with the two wings. I barely saw these offensive sets the whole game) Funny thing is JJ tries to get open and run around screens but since....

Its not just rebounding but altering and blocking shots has been huge for us with running the floor getting easy buckets. A guy can only alter a shot so many times and get that same rebound the team as a whole needs to cover each other. Jordan has had some bad lapses but the over time increase and confidence from Doc has helped us long term.

We need another C not because Jordan is overall poor but a great teams has different players than can help with wins. Our 1st and 2nd unit style needs to be improved.

Two wins against Dallas are quality wins. At Toronto on back to back is a quality win, Toronto is 18-9 since the Gay trade. Neither of those teams are significantly different in quality from the Warriors. Hard to beat good teams when you're mostly playing weak teams.

We're not a real contender without Chris Paul, but we've held our own and have gained some ground in the standings. @Golden State, @Indiana and @San Antonio were all second nights of back to backs on the road, without Paul, we were justifiably heavy underdogs in all those games. Even when Paul was healthy it seemed like a uncommonly amount of games against top teams were the 2nd night b2bs @Miami, @OKC, @Portland, @Memphis. It's a weakness for us, but in the playoffs there are no back to backs. Also we're undefeated at home to teams on back to backs, so we're at least taking care of other the end of it as well.

Sometimes i worry about DJ's defense.. He worry too much about getting in foul trouble rather than guarding the paint and be a defensive presence. You don't really need to block the ball or steal but contess every shot and no easy basket. How can he let barnes dunk that ball to his face, he just stood there were he could've blocked it

No, not only contested rebounds should count. Uncontested rebounds sometimes comes because of a good box out and the opponent then leaves and doesn't try to grab it.

DJ is doing fine on the glass individually, but the team as whole isn't doing as well as it could be on the glass.

Toronto is iffy cause two key players went down half way through the game and they were also in a back to back along with us. Also it is hard to say the first Dallas win was iresepetive of Paul because he got injured because the production he had before he went out was pretty significant in putting the team in position to be able to win.

It's not really a knock on the team, it is hard to beat the higher echelon teams when one of your best players is out and you don't have a full compliment of a roster to make up for it. It's hard to beat high echelon teams on the second night of a back to back after a long road trip, so I mean, people need to be realistic.

No real backup PG with Paul out, 3rd big man still sucks. The team is certainly more talented than weaker teams, but I don't think anyone believes or should have believed that the team is elite without Paul playing. That doesn't make sense.

There is a difference between a loss and somebody getting more points.

  1. The Bridge Brothers Lee and Bogut. DJ can't handle both. They are for real

  2. They shut down our shooters coming off the curl. CP wild have made them garden mulch if they had tried that.

3 Blake spent a lot of time at the elbow. It's hard to rebound from there.

In order to be a ring contender Blake has to improve. This is not a criticism but a critique A to A+. Blake found two guys he couldn't out muscle, the Bridge Bros. Per Steve Kerr. again not to get into the Love/Griffin mess. Love doesn't have to carry a team on his back

BUT-- Per Kerr, BG should have been able to torch Lee with his foot speed if he were fundamentally sound.. Love would have. Again not nay saying but this is what we need for a ring. The other thing is driving to the rim like LeBron. He did that on Bogut and would have fouled him out.

Finally DJ a rebound is a chance at 2 pts period contested or not.. Doc tried to go to him in the post. He got stripped. So What "DJ's working hard" Kerr. Somebody else says that he only needs one post move. Also Kerr and Reggie said that his FT's are all in his head, his form is good. He's worked hard on his post moves. Reward him

Doc said, and I'm sure it's hyperbole, that he doesn't care that much about regular season games because there are too many quirks like all those road games in a row. You don't have that in the PO's

Not to worry

My quick take

1). All the offensive rebounds were inexcusable and it seems like we're giving up a lot lately

2). Remember when our starters would sit the fourth quarter? Our second unit has been suspect. It will change when CP3 gets back because Collison is playing well and will keep the spark going with the second unit

3). Redick was the best move in the off season. He can score 30 any given night and doesn't get enough credit. (Drives weren't working tonight, but up until now, they had been. I think he was getting a lot of no calls)

4). I like Dudley better with the first team. Barnes likes to shoot too much and he's not consistent. At least Dudley's shot attempts were low and he let the big 3 shoot (griffin, Paul and jj). Plus Barnes energy off the bench was a plus

5). Crawford is fun...when it's not important. In general, his best performances last year were when we had a nice lead and the second unit kept extending it. As far as close games and coming from behind, in general he couldn't come from behind last year, or this year really. Love him but every time he touches the ball I expect him to shoot it, which is not what I really want with Blake, cp3 and Jj on the team. Would love him to take a third less shots and pass of dribble drives. (I know a lot of people are gonna argue this, but the guy chucks up a ton of shots...too many for being the 6th man. We remember the spectacular ones and forget that he missed twice as many as he made)

6). Why was DJ trying to make post up moves today? Instead of playing D?

Doc Rivers and the people who do basketball for a living disagree with you. Hubie Brown, a former Coach, says that he is in the discussion for defensive player of the year.

No offense, but you wouldn't know a good defender from a hole in the ground.

Yeah, I'm not going to read too much into this loss. It's one of those "would have been nice if..." games.

Nine games in nine cities in 14 days without one of the best players on the planet... sh*t happens.

Onward and upward. I'm still not sweating the warriors in a 7-game series.

And you would? Did you watch the game last night? He was getting burned all night. Not saying it was all his fault because no one played defense. But he is a below average paint defender. He was sluggish and slow?

This is one of those games where cp3 WOULD HAVE made the difference most likely in who won, but no one wins all 82 anyway, so lets learn from this loss and move on! Btw,....

no! Get bent out of shape! Over analyze one game and gloom and doom. Why are you not playing the game?

CP usually goes off against the Warirors, so just that aspect of it alone brings a different dynamic to a game like this. He tore them up last season outside of the game he played injured in, and even with that game added in, his overall performance against them was just killing them. He started off the year putting up big numbers against them.

Hey, look at it this way, at least were doing better against top teams than the Spurs who are like 1-11 against top 7 teams, and I think their win was against this team after Paul went down.

Warriors playing like crap against Utah. Its obvious they only come to play against us. Utah leading them at halftime. Clearly Golden State got us on a bad night, second night of a back-to-back. Warriors....
