Dear new commissioner Adam,
I would like to take this time to plead with you on what changes need to be made immediately to take the best professional game in the USA to even GREATER HEIGHTS! You now have in your power in your first year an opportunity that Mr. Stubborn, I mean Stern, didn't do in his entire 30 years as chief!
For the sake of the players, and to reduce the multiple crippling effects of injuries, YOU MUST ELIMINATE OR AT LEAST MODIFY THE BACK TO BACK SCHEDULE FORMAT THAT IS DEVASTATING OUR NBA PLAYERS' HEALTH!
In the short run, it's simple, JUST don't have any b2b games on next year's schedule. To accomplish this, you must get together with the NHL, and tell the stadium venue owners, along with the tv moron producers, that the two leagues will be deciding their game dates, PERIOD! The days of the tail wagging the dog are OVER!
You may have to open the season sooner, say the first week of October, and maybe end in the last week of April, but if this adjustment saves JUST ONE NBA PLAYER from a season or career ending injury, IT'S WELL WORTH THE TROUBLE TO CHANGE, DON'T YOU AGREE, MR.SILVER?
And to further end injuries and improve game play AT the beginning of the season, you should also open training camps one week after the summer leagues have finished playing. The teams'will gel sooner and the fans will benefit from opening night games where the teams are now much more cohesive from more practice time given to them after the summer league ended.
In closing, Mr.Commissioner Adam, you now have a chance to correct this game and bring even more performance and entertainment to the fan base without having to do anything more than move and adjust a few game dates around! How simple is that?
