Don't think our boys are quite there yet with LBJ in their endorsements deals at least not in 2013. Maybe they move up in 2014.

Per Forbes, top 5 NBA endorsement earners in 2013: LeBron $42M; Kobe $34M, Rose $21M, Durant $14M, Wade $12M

Anyone who doesn't think Blake is a better

dunker than LBJ either needs theirs eyes check (No offense)

or needs to go over to youtube and look at the highlight.

Blake isn't known for dunking over 6'7 SG's.

Blakes best highlights are over 7ft centers and PF.s

Think about it.

You can argue all you want. I simply do not enjoy watching LeBron and his army of refs skew every game in his favor. If BG got all this preferential treatment, he would surpass all this LeHype stuff.

Unfortunately at this stage, BG doesn't have a ring so he is in essentially the same place LeBron was in before his move to Miami.

So, for my argument to hold water -- that BG is superior to LeBron -- he will have to win a ring or two. Or more.

Here's to Blake, CP3 and crew winning three titles -- hopefully in a row.

That would go a long way to shutting Mr. Rushmore up.

Mt. Rushmore, my azz.

Go get 'em, Blake!

Not to pick on you, but the only reason San Antonio was even in a position to win that game was that Tony Parker made a shot in the paint after shuffling his pivot foot, then hitting a very fortunate step back 3 pointer.

Obviously, in any close game, there are lots of questionable calls and lucky shots. For example, if it weren't for the refs, the Lakers would have only lost by 44 points. j/k

Seriously, no matter what happened previously, Manu makes those two free throws, series over. That CANNOT be argued. So luck does factor into "King James" resume.

On the subjective side, you can argue all you want, but I simply do not like watching LeBron ball. I loved watching MJ in his prime, Kobe in his prime and Blake as he enters his prime. You cannot argue taste.

Sure, I will watch LeBron for free when the playoffs arrive. But I will PAY to see Blake play. That is my privilege.

Let Mr. Mount Rushmore talk about himself in the third person. I am just not buying what he is selling..

Those are just hypotheticals. If refs call Jordan for pushing off on Russell, jazz win that ring.

If Ron Artest misses that 3 pointer, Celtics come back.

If the Clippers make 100% of their shots, they win 100% of the time.

The game is 48 minutes long in regulation, Heat and Spurs were tied after 48 minutes, no luck, no team was better than the other.

And yes, I can argue that the game is not over if Manu makes those free throws, everyone saw Reggie Miller score eight points in nine seconds

Again I'm not trying to pick on you, just tired of people not giving Lebron credit

Let's get back to topic. NO -- I would never trade Blake Griffin for LeBron James.

And I enjoy watching Blake's game more than LeBron's. However, if he joins the Clippers for a super Big Three -- CP3, Blake and LeBron -- then that would be amazing, I must admit.

I would have even less respect for James if he manipulates his way to the Clippers. I doubt any of this is true though.

I don't think you know what true shooting % is... It accounts for your FG% along with FTs. Blake goes to the line 8.5 times a game, so yes his free throws increase his TS% big time. Yet, Lebron's FG% (.577) is almost as high as Blake's TS% (.585). And I'm pretty sure Lebron takes much much more jumpers than Blake.

By definition of position? So if Chris Paul's a center he'll be a better rebounder than Blake? Lebron's is a definitely a better shooter and a better rebounder if you put him down low.

I would definitely agree with you if you're suggesting not trading LBJ for Blake simply because of age. However, saying Blake's a better player is just silly.

I wish we could but can Donald spend more money? I hope so, but if we will win this year (hopefully) Donald will not look for this scenario, But if we will miss again, maybe a 50% LBJ will come here to form a big 3, I'm looking for Granger to be in top shape, and might be our own big 3. I vote for Blake LBJ trade but the way Blake played this month, I want to withdraw my vote.

Honestly Lebron and Kobe earn more from endorsements than 10 Pauls and 10 Blake Griffin's combined(4m + 6m respectively).

Kobe endorses Nike, Coca-Cola, Mercedes and a bunch of other stuff. He is just really popular globally.

If we win the Championship this year LeBron will not want to come here. He doesn't want to look like a ring chaser and he wants to be the guy to bring the first ring to the Clippers, it will become way less enticing if we already won without him.

Totally different. The Heat had I think the worst record in the league after the championship and were awful every year from then to acquiring LeBron.

Also, Wade & Haslem were the only remaining players from that 06 team.

Not quite true. The "Baby Bulls" swept them in the first round the year after their first title. The next year, they had the awful season you were describing, mainly because they had a ridiculous amount of injuries (so bad that they had to beg Penny Hardaway out of retirement) and they ended up trading Shaq. Then they had two mediocre seasons with an absolute peak Wade.

Riley deserves more credit for pulling off the Big Three. Considering how screwed they appeared to be when they lost out on Rose, the Heat have had an impressive turnaround.

I think if LeBron were to win a ring with the Clippers, it would be all about how he won a ring with a brand new team, more than the Clippers finally getting one. No thanks.

I can see LBJ going to New York. The Duo of Melo and LeBron would be scary.

Maybe Clips go after D Wade on the cheap if LeBron leaves.

Why LBJ need Phil Jackson. He already won two rings with Spo, Besides PJ will not coach the Knicks his job is just the same as Pat Riley. If he wants a new team it is with us CP3 and Blake since we have a better tandem of CP3 and Blake compared to D-wade and Bosh. But honestly if Danny G is back of his all star form and JJ and Jamal are healthy we don't need him anymore, we are great

With PJax in NYC, Melo stays put. Then LBJ would either stay in Miami -- but if he wants to move East Coast style, NYC would be his big market goal. Dolan would go way over the cap to team up LeBron and Melo.

If Mr. Mt. Rushmore wants the West Coast Hollywood trip, then the Clippers would be his only option. The Lakers, under Jim Buss, will be dead for many, many years. BG, CP3 and LeBron would likely win three or more chips in a row. Of course, cap problems might prevent this.

I'd say the odds are one out of three for any of these destinations -- Heat, Knicks or Clippers.

Why do people keep saying we have to trade Blake for Lebron?

We can sign both. The reason why I'm rooting for INDIANA to crush The HEAT is because with an injury prone Wade, Lebron is going to leave. Most likely to the Clippers where one of his best friends and best PG in the world plays. Lebron has NEVER Played with a PG like CP3 in his career, ever.

Let's stop saying Blake OR Lebron. We can sign BOTH.

Deandre (12 mil) + Redick (6 mil) = Lebron (18 mil)

Lebron only makes 18 mil even though he deserves 40 mil/year. The thing is, he makes the most money in endorsements, more than any other athlete, almost 50 mil/year which would only increase if he moved to LA. His goal is to become the first billionaire athlete and you can bet ALL the money you have that he is considering LA. This isn't a pipe dream. This is a real possibility.

Lebron is a free agent this summer. Its his Option to OPT OUT and he will bc that's how he will have more leverage. But he won't leave Miami with nothing so it will most likely be a sign and trade.

I love DJ and Redick but we can sign and trade DJ + Redick + probably a first round and second round pick for Lebron.

DJ + Redick + picks for Lebron.

Trade Dudley away for anything... for cash.

CP3, Jamal Crawford, Lebron James, Blake Griffin, Glen Davis

or - CP3, Green, LBJ, Blake Griffin, Glen Davis.

Bench, Collison(so underrated, underpaid), Jamal Crawford/Bullock, Granger/Hedo (sign Granger of course if we can't get LBJ) and a couple bigs better than Hollins.

If we win it all this year then keep this team together and keep Granger. Other than that, go for the best player in the game, Lebron James, and we can have the THREE BEST PLAYERS, and THE THREE BEST PASSERS IN HISTORY OF THE GAME at their position... PG, SF, PF and it will be some of the most beautiful basketball every played.

CP3, Lebron, Blake Griffin for the next 4 - 5 years.

Its a real possibility.

RIDE OR DIE WITH BLAKE!!!

We need our Front Office to have VISION and execute like Pat Riley.

Yes, with Phil leaving for NYC, if LeBron wants more rings and big market exposure (to become a Billionaire), it would be between the Clippers and the Knicks. The Lakers are done as long as Jim Buss runs them.

But Miami has to be dethroned for James to leave. And, of course, if the Clippers dethrone them, he might not jump to the team that beat him. So root for Indiana to whup the Heat.

If that happens, CP3 is a better friend to The King and the Clippers will still be closer to winning the chip (if it isn't already accomplished) than the Knicks...so, as you say,

BG, CP3 and LeBron are a REAL possibility.

And I will look like a genius having come over to the Clippers. (I am, as I said, a Clippers SUPPORTER -- not yet a "fan." I will have to earn that title over time.)

Sorry if this has been discussed more then onece. But my answer is NOOOOO. Literally would not trade Blake for any player. He IS the Clippers. He makes this team what it is, he was drafted by the Clips and should retire as a Clipper. I want Lebron as much as the next guy, but not if that means giving up our franchise corner stone, the guy who single handily changed the culture and way this franchise plays. Blake Freaking Griffin is much more to this team then our PF, he is the reason we've had a culture shock in Clipper land and I'm not about to trade him for anyone. Really aggravates me when I hear Clipper fans wanting to trade Blake. If it weren't for him we would still be stuck with guys like Kaman, Gordan, Thronton and Mike Dunleavy. When Blake was drafted Donald Sterling finally saw and realized what a winning team will do for you.

Why give Blake for Lebron when we can trade DJ, Jamal, and Willie Green for a good pick in the draft and cap space relief. Seriously, who wouldn't want a ready to go franchise center? We can get two for one.

Also, I just looked. Realistic options include Orlando with the fourth pick and Utah with the fifth or possibly Detroit. DJ, Jamal, and Green for one of those picks and cap space. Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Cleveland are not realistic options for trade because those picks could be perceived as more valuable than DJ, although in reality I'm not sure. I think DJ can be a scoring threat in the post if he becomes a go to guy. This would not be a great trade because I think DJ is worth a number 3 pick in this draft but I think the other teams will gamble and take their picks. Utah and Orlando would be stupid to turn this trade down.

Now, Blake Griffin can stay a clipper and we don't get ruined by Miami who gave nothing up for Lebron and doesn't deserve to get anything for him. We get a good pick in the trade, not a great one but good enough.

JQuick32
CTB MVP X1

LeBron has all the leverage here. He can just tell Miami, "S&T me out of the conference to the Clippers or I'll sign with a rival Eastern Conference team that has cap space." Then Miami will have to lower their asking price from Blake to something more realistic compared to the usual superstar trades like DJ/Jamal/Bullock/picks, or else face the possibility of LeBron going to somewhere like Chicago and whooping their asses for years to come.

I think it's far more realistic than some on here want to believe. There have been way too many links between LeBron and the Clippers over the past few years for us to not at least be an option for him.

clippers32

No way in this world i give up Blake Griffin for Lebron. Blake is the cornerstone for the Clippers. People want to play with him and CP3. Not against them. Only way Lebron comes to the Clips is in a trade. We don't have the cap space to sign him in free agency, and I'm not fond of giving up DJ either. So in my opinion the best trade package without giving up DJ is ....Jamal, Dudley, Willie Green, Reggie Bullock and maybe a draft pick or two. It covers every position that Miami needs from PG - SF and it gives us Lebron. If Miami is willing to do this. Then this will work.

No, it's not as realistic as you might think. You think the Heat are going to take in max salary with a bunch role players because they don't want to let him go to a rival? In order for that to happen, we have to package the same amount of money LBJ will make. How are we going to do that? What players aside from BG are they going to want to eat up their cap space? They can just try and land Melo if Lebronze leaves. Bulls can't take in both players. What other team is LBJ willing to go in the Eastern conference? Riley isn't a fool. I'll bet he lets him walk and preserve the cap space than take in players they don't need. But most importantly, if Lebronze leaves, who cares where he goes cause they won't be competing regardless. Aside from that, yeah, it's very realistic.

That's only about 1/2 of lebron's salary which means that trade won't work in a S&T. You honestly think Riley will go for that? Hell, even if DJ is included, I doubt Riley goes for that package. LeBron leaves, Melo can replace him. I'm sure Riley would go that route before taking up that poor package.

Question. Everyone says "we don't have the cap space." Granted, that is true. But what if Ballmer went nuts and said, "I'll go over the cap and pay the penalties to have LeBron join BG, CP3 and DJ."

Can this be done? And if it can be done, at what cost?

Anyone here an expert on the new CBA?

It isn't about the money, it's about the CBA. Those rules can't be broken no matter how much you want to go nuts paying penalties. In other words, the CBA trumps money. Once you're over the cap, you're basically capped unless it's to sign your own players. Then you can exceed the threshold and pay as much as you want to YOUR own players...Then you pay penalties.

basically, you have a soft cap at say, 60 million. If you have players under contract that equals 50 million, you have 10 million to spend...Nothing more. No matter if you're willing to pay penalties.

Right now, we're over the cap that was 58 million this past season. We're at 73 million (with Collison and Big baby included). That's just under the luxury tax. We were able to exceed the cap ($58 million) because we signed our own players (BG & CP3) to new contracts. Like I said, we can go over the cap to sign our own players but we can't exceed the cap to sign free agents. Basically, LBJ is a pipe dream based on our cap situation.

Could Lebron sign for veterans minimum and have a backdoor deal with Ballmer to be the face of some new venture he's investing in? So Lebron could make more money off the court with Ballmer and agree to play for vet minimum. Would this be legal under the CBA?

No, that article basically says that it would be ideal for LBJ to come here in a BG trade. Nothing about him wanting to come here.
