I wouldn't want any other Point Guard running my team.... What I like about Carmelo is he is a natural born scorer.. I think at the end our guys were afraid to shoot the damn ball. Carmelo wouldn't have been. Carmelo on our team makes too much sense.

Why don't we just do this? If Lebron forces a trade, ESPN says this is legit:

This Trade Works. Just because it works contractually doesn't mean it works factually ... Loo remember that ....

I think what stood out to me is the discrepancy of wins and losses. We get +7 wins with this move, and the heat get -7. Lol, man that shows how bad that trade would work for Miami, but hey better to get something back than nothing at all.

No surprise. He either wants the attention, more money, or take a pay cut to stay in Miami. I know he wants the attention just not sure about the money. Get ready for the "decision 2.0". This time, it's going straight to PPV.

Miami happened because the players made it happen. Lebron, Bosh and Wade decided what they were going to do, where they were going to be and pushed it through.

I can't help but think the same thing could happen here. CP3, Blake and Lebron need to be on the phone Blake and CP3 can drop a few million each off their contracts along with DJ and you can have a four headed monster the likes of which has never been seen in the NBA. If they chose it, they can make it happen just like the players made it happen in Miami.

C: DJ

PF: Blake

SF: Lebron

SG: Redick

PG: Paul

And there would still be significant players coming off the bench That's a team that could win a number of championships and would be the favorite every year they are together.

Doesn't work that way. Once a contract is signed, it is 100% guaranteed without any party ( team or player) able to amend it. The Big three were all free agents so they had time to arrange their salaries with the Heat. This is totally different. only way he comes here is if Riley agrees to sign and trade him with equal salary exchange. Not sure Riley wants what we would be able to offer in exchange for Lebron's salary.

The team could possibly get creative and being in one or two more teams to facilitate a trade. It worked with the lakers and dwight. Trades don't always have to be between two parties. We could possibly find one team to take Dj and jamal, another to take a draft pick, Dudley.

Here's a trade scenario that works salary wise and all teams involved win with the exception of the Heat losing Lebron but it is what it is Don't you just love fantasy basketball Smile

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lhpd6o8

PG: Paul / Knight

SG: Allen / Bullock

SF: James / Barnes / Beasley

PF: Blake / Andersen

C: Henson / Hollins

Who knows who else Clippers can add during free agency for cheap too

That's very true but again, Riley has already said no S & T. Unless Riley gets an offer he can't refuse, I don't see it happening. Riley is a proud guy and if there is anyone I see letting LBJ go for nothing, it's him just out of principle.

There is one other way. Today, as most of you know, LeBron opted out. I assume we could squeeze fifteen million to sign James. (I am guessing what we have to work with -- if anyone knows the exact figure, post it.) He is besties with CP3. And he is besties with Larry O'Brien. (The trophy, not the dead guy!)

If he figures a team of CP3, BG, DJ and LeBron with Doc coaching could win three or four titles and thus can make up the dollar difference in endorsements and TV/movie/reality TV stuff, mostly accessible out here -- plus he gets to play with his best friend, CP3 -- then it is not a stretch at all. He actually GAINS money, gets even more fame/infamy from the move as he puts the Clippers over the top as L.A's number one team, and gets a lot of hate, which he seems to enjoy, then it is doable.

It depends on what he wants. Cos at this stage of his career, he gets just about everything he wants.

If money is an issue with us, then in my opinion the best option is to ..... 1....win this sale with Ballmer....2...dump dead weight salaries like Big Baby, Dudley, etc...then once Ballmer takes over, he can afford paying Lebron whatever he wants. I think this is the best solution while still keeping our core guys like CP3, Blake, and DJ. It avoids a S&T to loose DJ and we can win. What do u guys think?

What if we teed up trades with other people that opened the cap space and signed lebron outright. Doesn't have to be a sign and trade.

Am I missing something?

Guys screw a sign and trade I just read on hoopsrumors that besides the heat we are the next option for Lebron and Riley as many of guys have stated doesn't want a S&T. Let's do exactly what bill Simons said expect for maybe grain DJ but other than that I'm all in for clearing room for King James, flight 32,CP3,DJ, and the Doc.

Not only that but do you guys really think ballmer really cares about going over the cap to win titles? And we will still have the MLE too right??

It depends on what LeKing REALLY wants. If he wants to be part of the GTAT -- Greatest Team of All Time -- rather than just be GOAT, then he will figure out a way to JOIN our BIG THREE to make an invincible BIG FOUR.

Clipper*Joe quotes Riles as saying, "No S&T." That is a good opening gambit. But smart men, like Pat Riley (and Dr. Buss with Shaq) take what they can get when the writing is on the wall. Only true, bonafide idiots, like Jim "The Wrong" Buss, stick to the 'no S&T' stance when the star is about to walk. Look what that moron got for D12. Nothing, nada, ugotz, zero -- not even a bag of peanuts. Pat Riley will do a sign and trade if that is the best he can get.

Basically, whatever LeBron wants, LeBron gets. Simple as that.

I don't know how accurate PER is, but Birdman has an 18.6 vs. DJ's 18.2, I know we all want to keep DJ, but the upgrade from Matt Barnes to Lebron will make up for going from DJ to Birdman, plus possibly getting Jordan Hill with MLE...

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=pexfzll (Probably have to add the 28th pick)

Chris Paul/Collison on BAE

Reddick/

LeBron/Barnes

Blake/Jordan Hill on MLE

Birdman/Vet min

I'll take it...

here's the real quote from that article:

sign-and-trade scenario with the Los Angeles Clippers in which James could play with close friend Chris Paul and under president-coach Doc Rivers. Nevertheless, Miami has remained the primary consideration for James, sources said. He wants to see Riley's plans for improving the roster.

I thought you played pro? I guess you're forgetting that even if ballmer wants to pay Lebron 20 million a game, he can't due to the CBA rules. Big Baby, Granger, and Collsion have opted out so they're not on the books for right now. You take Green's salary ( team option) and that still leaves us just under 70 million in salary. That still leaves us at 12 million over the cap without all the players I mentioned. Last year's salary cap was at 58 million so I am going with those numbers so even if we dump all those players, we have nothing to offer LeBron. Unless...wait for it...We get around 20 million under the cap (58 million). That's means we have to dump DJ, Crawford, dudley, and something else for nothing. That's just to offer LeBron a contract. Even if Ballmer is willing to get taxed up the ass, the CBA won't allow it. But I guess you knew that when you went over your facts. Talk your your agent about the CBA and see what he tells you. lol

That can be done but it has to be with teams that can absorb the contracts. That would leave us with minimum contracts to fill out the roster though. Plus, you still have cap holds for roster vacancies.

Like I said, even without Granger, Big Baby, Collison, and Green, we're still close to 68 million...10 million over the cap. ( I calculated wrong on the previous post)

You want to keep DJ?

Then you have to get rid of :

Dudley

Crawford

Barnes

Redick

  • for nothing

That's about 20 million in cap space.

Take it easy on him CJ with all those facts regarding the new CBA, you might make his head explode, lol.

Unfortunately most fans don't fully understand the ramifications with the new CBA. Trade porn is fun though.

Very Happy

Here's a useful site (unfortunately they won't update any longer). Go to player salaries and see where we are with or without player/team options:

If we were to do a Sign and Trade for LeBron, I would hope Redick stays on the team. When you have LeBron on your team, you need great 3 point shooters like him. I'm okay with Jamal and DJ leaving.

I don't believe that for a second. Riley isn't going to take up cap space for sake of getting whatever in return. If the Heat's owner wanted the big three to give a hometown discount, you think the owner is going to allow fillers to eat up the cap space? hell, he's reluctant to give out max contracts to the best players.

I still don't see Lebron leaving for any other team. He probably opted out just to resign for a lower deal so the Heat can better their roster.

Word is, the cap is going to take a relatively big jump next season. But that extra $4mil or so doesn't change a thing about what Joe is saying: We CANNOT "just sign" LeBron for anything more than MLE... about $5million.

Not gonna happen.

If for some strange reason, the Heat want to play ball, either you package DJ with less players, or you Package Redick with Dudley, Barnes, and Crawford. Who knows, it might even take DJ, Redick, and another piece for that top happen. You think LeBron is going to be sign and traded for a decent piece and filler? hell no, it will take our best talent short of CP3 and BG.

Look here Bobby Boo - Shay. ...i would of respected your comment if you would of left out the kobe bryant sarcasm and arrogance. Its time for you to grow up waterboy. Yep...i played overseas. Yep. I got friends in the league like a lot of memebers on here do. And yep. I do get the inside scoop on things. But I'm just a big clippers fan like u dude. Grow up. Leave the smart remarks for someone that cares. And talk Clippers basketball. And to the point. If we were able in some way to clear the roster except for CP3 and Blake, then we can sign Lebron and fill out the roster with vets and players like Lance Stephenson, Birdman or Gasol.

Even if we somehow could get Lance for cheap, I'd have to say no thanks. He's a headcase and he almost single-handedly ruined the Pacers' season with his on-court selfishness and off-court behavior. I've hated him since one of the times we played them last season and he spent all game overcelebrating and just being an annoying douche.

We would LOVE to get LeBron. It will be TERRIBLE for Laker fans as this city would be come "Clipperland" and have SO MANY new fans!

I read this post on a Laker Forum:

"I can't imagine a worse scenario for the Lakers if LBJ comes to LA and plays with the Clips. For the Lakers it will be the first rock bottom moment in Los Angeles...scary times could be ahead."

I like the "scary times could be ahead" ,suck it up man, it's not like a zombie Apocalypse, you just have a su-ck-y NBA team. You'll get over it.
