Haha, same here. It's going to be interesting to hear Riley tell LeBron that the struck out on Lowry and probably Deng, but that he got Napier, LOL.

I'm not writing it off entirely. Everyone in these types of situations talks tough about not wanting a sign-and-trade, but when the rubber meets the road, few actually have the balls to let their stars walk for nothing. Even the Cavs agreed to S&T LeBron for picks despite Gilbert's butthurt letter. And look at the screeching trainwreck on wheels that the Lakers have become after they DID let Dwight walk for nothing.

If I'm Doc, I'm asking Riley what's better: getting a young, talented center to build around, or suffering the humiliation of watching LeBron go back to Cleveland and getting nothing in return.

With the news that this Cleveland story is being pushed entirely by LeBron's agent, I wonder if they're going to tell Riley "S&T LBJ to the Clippers or he's walking to Cleveland and you get nothing" as a leverage play.

But there is no ounce of evidence or hint that LeBron is interested in the Clippers. None.

If that happens, it pretty much opens it up for any team with stars on their roster that are willing to give up in a trade. While there could be a slight chance it could happen, I then think Riley deals with teams with the most return.

Not saying it's happening by any means, but media blather is nothing to go by. Nobody thought we were getting Hawes either - it was assumed that he was going to Portland and would be out of our price range. Doc has done a good job of minimizing leaks out of his front office.

One of the very first tweets about Hawes was how he was willing to take a pay cut to come here. Then the 8 million asking price tweet came up and ruined our chances. When Portland offered MLE, I am pretty sure Doc countered with the same deal.

I have a strong feeling that Riley is pushing Bosh out so he can take the Rockets' deal. That way, Melo goes to Miami. Lebronze is taking too long and Melo has been real quiet.

Haha I'm like the epitome of an optimist, but I don't think he even met with us. There hasn't been a word about the clippers and LBJs camp being linked. I won't bash you for this, but I think this is less than 1% chance. Way to keep an open mind tho!

He is waitning out the DTS trial thing. If DTS is out,he may ask to come here. He cannot do that now after the things he said publicly about DTS.

Where is Bosh????? Hmmm, making plans without him? Both in Vegas? With Riley there too? Sounds about right.

LBJ hasn't met with anyone yet as far as I know. His agent just talked to teams with cap space.

Maybe Melo and Lebron are trying to scare the Knicks and/or Heat into listening to sign-and-trade. I would think that they should have some sort of contingency plans cued up.

How much cap space will we have in 2-3 years depending on if he opts out?

Enough if we don't extend DJ's contract. We could go after LeBron or Durant in 2 years.

Do we really want a 33 year old Lebron. Definitely not if he wants max in 3 years.

That's nothin. I almost mentioned how we could throw a max offer at Kawhi and see if Spurs don't match, but I restrained myself from my own insanity on that one.

we will see if this sterling court stuff gets settled this week..

lebron for 4 years would be good.. Smile

where else is he going to go?

miami has no chance at another championship..

with us..he gets to beat the spurs 4 times a year...

he can have endorsements ....acting in movies.... hang ion out with the rappers and making songs...

giving a city a second champion in basketball...

working under doc..

playing for a billionaire who is not a racist...

playing with paul and blake...

and enjoying life..what else is there..

Either he is setting cleveland up for a big let down...or he is playing them to get more money from the heat..

or he is setting up the clipper sign and trade..

if he comes or not...I think we will have a better team than last year..

so come to the clippers lebron ...or watch us win it without you.. Smile

i didn't really think that Clipper fans had become so delusional that they think, despite everything being said about there he wants to play, despite the fact we haven't talked to him, despite the fact that the Heat said they won't S&T, that Lebron was still going to come here.... so funny

IMO, Durant's leaving in 2016 if they haven't won a ring by then.

My issue with such a trade would be the narrowing of our window if we swapped Griffin for James. It doesn't take much statistical analysis to show that Lebron is better than Blake, but Lebron is also like 4-5 years older than Blake. If we Got Lebron then we would have a very short window with him and Paul as the leaders in their peak. If we didn't win a chip then the rebuild would be here in 3 years, that's way too soon.

As we are now we can build around Blake and have a larger window so if we don't win a chip with this current core we have more years to experiment and try again.

Jordan was 34 when he won his last title so... I will take Lebron at 33. Yes I know Lebron was 3 years younger when he entered the league so more wear and tear...

Report: LeBron James narrows choices to Heat, Cavaliers

July 8, 2014, 11:15 pm

According to the most trusted source in basketball, LeBron James has dwindled his free-agency options to his current team and former team.

Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reportedly spoke Tuesday night on Fox Sports Live and said the four-time MVP has narrowed his choices to the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers.

"By every source I have, there are just two considerations at this point - and that's Cleveland and staying in Miami," Wojnarowski said on the show.

James' agent, Rich Paul, has met with a handful of teams including the Lakers, Cavaliers, Rockets, Mavericks and Suns, and it appears the chance to return home, play with one of the better young teams in the Eastern Conference and rekindle his relationship with the Cavaliers fans has at least piqued the two-time NBA champ's interest.

James will meet with Heat president Pat Riley tomorrow to go over the direction of the franchise and where James fits in. Miami has been aggressive in free agency, signing forward Josh McRoberts to a four-year deal and Danny Granger to a two-year deal. The assumption was Riley would not have gone forward with those moves without having some sort of understanding with James (and subsequently Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh) that he'd return, but it appears that may not be the case.

Free agency is still quiet as James decides where to play next season. He reportedly is looking for a maximum contract and potentially a shorter deal than the five years the Heat can give him.

[MORE: Teams stuck in a holding pattern as free agency heats up]

James' decision (not Decision) would start a major domino effect in free agency. Chris Bosh is reportedly weighing a maximum contract offer from the Houston Rockets that he would accept if James chooses Cleveland, while Carmelo Anthony appears to be waiting for James to make a move before announcing his next destination, which appears to be down to the Knicks, Lakers and Bulls.

A move back to Cleveland would be a shock considering the terms he left on in 2010. After announcing his plans to "take his talents to South Beach" fans were seen burning his No. 23 jersey in the streets, and owner Dan Gilbert wrote a scathing letter about James to Cavs fans. Nowhere else was James booed louder than in Cleveland, though James' hometown of Akron is just 40 minutes away.

Things are a bit cloudy in Miami despite four straight trips to the NBA Finals. There are doubts about whether the Big Three can be retained while also putting together a championship roster. Still, the Heat appear to have catered to most of James' offseason desires, including trading up in last month's draft for Connecticut point guard Shabazz Napier.

I hope to god, LeBron tells Pat Riley what he is doing by going to Cleveland. Eleimates an option for Ariza , but opens one up in Miami.

I really hope we get Ariza.

If LBJ doesn't go to Cleveland, we are way more likely to be able to work some S&T magic with them to get at least Hawes and retain our MLE, if not getting Deng too

Wow. At least we tried.

Huge LeBron fan, but he's made a big mistake by limiting his choices to the Heat and Cavs. Neither one is a better choice basketball-wise than the Clippers, but he has let the media and his inner circle cloud his judgment too much with off-court related crap. In 2-3 years when he is still stuck on 2 rings with either team and we have cap space, then we'll be able to make a really convincing pitch.

LeBron never had any intention to come here and all facts pointed in that direction. he would have relegated BG as the next Bosh especially since BG does similar things as LeBronze does. he'd also take away from CP3's effectiveness with the ball. Even if we have to run with this current team, I think we're better than last season. The West hasn't really changed in terms of the competition in the top spots. That's good news. And even if the Thunder somehow land Gasol, I don't think it makes them better. Surely doesn't make the Thunder defensively better with Gasol and without Thebo.

We finally got our stretch big that knows how to position himself down low on defense, and can spread the floor. The SF position can work itself out before camp opens, or even during the season. I am not worried. Only thing I am worried about is making a stupid mistake and losing depth trying to get Pierce.

I agree with you that Lebron never had any inclination to come here. I certain don't think that the Sterling drama helped our case either seeing that Lebron was very vocal about Sterling.

Still, that being said we don't need him, but what we do need is one aspect that he offers so well...defense. It was our downfall against the Thunder. Our offense was superb, and at times it seems as if we could score at will against the Thunder, which was evidence by the early leads of 10+ points in many of the games. Sadly, those leads didn't last as our defense like the French army hosting a German invasion.

I think you're right that overall Lebron will not make or break this squad, but what will is whether we can make this club better defensively.

I like the Hawes signing. I think he potentially provides what we were hoping Mullens would bring. I don't think it puts us over the Thunder though. Essentially what I think the Hawes and Farmar signings amount to are a lateral move. These signings replace what we lost offensively when we lost Collison and Granger albeit at different positions.

To me what I hope we are able to do is sign guys like Ed Davis, Reggie Evans, or Iman Shumpert, defensive options at the wing and front court that are not massively expensive.

I guess what we can expect is perhaps another 3rd seeding with a playoff exit in the second round or western conference at best (as we are currently constituted). It's not for sake of being negative just a critical guess since are still more of an offensive and unbalanced team.

Still, I think one of your points is well made...we don't need Lebron and shouldn't worry about him not being here. Smile

I've never been a betting man but if I were, I would have put up the farm betting that we would have closed out the series at home had it not been for CP3's mistakes. We would have broke their spirit despite having problems on defense at times. I think the fact that the Thunder haven't made any changes other than losing defense, it puts us in a better position. That's the point I forgot to mention.
