Huge game tonight @ Staples Center for the rested Clippers vs the Blazers, who are coming off a home loss vs the Thunder. The guys must play good defense, defend the 3 point line well, and get some steals to win. Thoughts & predictions?

This begins a Really tough Stretch for the Clippers, so Getting this one will be Huge. On a Side note, with that horrible game LA had last night vs the Thunder, Blake moved past him by a few percentage point's for 6th in the NBA in Scoring.

Hope LA has a Repeat performance, he was playing hurt yesterday, but Kendrick Perkins (Who did the Best Job Guarding LA), really Body'd him up on the Perimeter, but he was missing allot of shots he normally makes. Also Mo Williams didn't play as Well.

I think we don't give the Clippers a lot of credit on the defensive end, myself included

The Clippers are Top 10 in Offensive and Defensive Eff. Doc Rivers is starting to show in these guys and its great to see. The fight they have every night is great even against Miami,Portland, especially against the Mavericks... TWICE. We defend the 3 point line so much better now. Do you guys really watch close like I do. Do you see Jamal get low and in a defensive stance when he is on Defense. Blake may not block shots , but he takes charges and DJ may not take charges , but he blocks shots. That Is all from positioning taught by Doc Rivers. The Players on the Clips think they have hit their stride , but I think they aren't even close yet.

As for this Portland game, Portland will be tired. Clips well rested and had their first practice in forever yesterday. Clippers still need to come to play. A win would almost put us practically in 3rd for the Stretch Run.

@EricPatten: Portland comes to L.A. with a 36-16 record. Clippers are 36-18. A win by #LAC would move them 0.007 points in the standings away from 3rd.

Aldridge had a terrible game last night. Perkins guarded him most of the time, correct? I believe DJ with his length should guard LA as well. I am excited for this game. I think the goal is to come out with energy against these tired Blazers. Make them RUN. Put on a Lob or L.O.B. City show.

My Keys To The Game:

  • CONTROL TURNOVERS. Chris may have some when Batum is on him. That Is why I am glad Chris came back against Michael Carter-Williams because he had to adjust to long and tall defender. Batum is 6'8 and MCW is 6'7.

  • CRASH THE GLASS

You cannot allow this Blazer team to keep getting Offensive rebounds and easy buckets or kick-outs for wide-open 3's.

  • DO NOT OVER HELP ON ALDRIDGE. If our guards continue to over help and then LA kicks it out for the quick 3 it will be a long night.

  • PLAY SOLID D FOR 24 SECONDS OR UNTIL THEY TURN IT OVER. Never give up on the play. Yeah they will score , but we have to make sure every shot is contested and every lay up is altered ( not necessarily blocked - but yeah those are good too Very Happy )

  • RUN RUN RUN. The Blazers are coming off a close loss to the Thunder. It was a grind out game. They will be tired and we should run every chance we get.

++Blake gets the board - Fastbreak right there because No one can stop Blake when he brings the ball up the floor. He is too fast for bigs and to strong for guards

Every-time we SECURE A defensive rebound you have to push the ball up the floor. If anyone besides DJ, Hollins or Dudley get the rebound just go. DJ has become a great outlet passer so if he can do that then that also counts as pushing the ball up the floor.

I think the Clippers win this by 7 or more. Can't WAIT!!!!!!

The Blazers are on a second night of a back-to-back, so they will have some tired legs. Clippers need to come out fast and outgun them right away. LMA struggled last night with his shots so I hope he continues having trouble. He was playing injured so perhaps that will also limit his game tonight. Batum is a pesky defender (or at least he was at last night's game) so Clips need to get him out of his rhythm. I hope the Clips win this easily.

Rebounding will be the story of this game. One-and-done, and we should be OK.

such a huge game going into the break. If we win this, we will be essentially tied with portland for the 3 seed. In my opinion we need to be striving for the 2 seed, we gotta do everything we can to avoid GSW in the first round, they're our kryptonite

We will win this game and it probably won't be close. 2nd of back to back for them.

Hope JJ gets some run.

We got no excuses for losing this game, even without JJ. Don't get me wrong, I think we're even better with Redick but our team is rested, they are not. We're at home, they're on the road. If we lose, then they are clearly the better team right now.

I definitely think this is a key game. If we were blaming some of our losses on the schedule and tough second nights of a back to back against tough opponents; then this is where we get those back. This is Portland's version, so we have to take it. We can't take it for granted and think it's an automatic win. We have to get them early and run them down early, get big leads right away and then reinforce it in the 3rd, and finishing it off in the end.

We can't take to much out of a win here, but it can show a lot of maturity problems with a loss in my opinion. Rebounding needs to be a priority, don't let their perimeter players come back in for easy boards.

Just watched the recap of the Thunder game, they're for real they played with LA 5-22 and only lost by 3 pts, we have to put DJ on LA to bother those jumpshots and make sure we box out Lopez he loves tip ins.

Team has to bring the big game energy and hunger for a full game. Hopefully they got a great practice in and warm up well to come out the gates aggressive.

As much as I love JJ, I am tired of his injuries. Billups 2.0

JJ isn't your typical SG though. He gets in there and fights for rebounds and is real gritty. He doesn't stand behind the three-point line and shoot. Running off of screen can cause injuries too. I can understand JJs injuries. JJ said that he had been playing with the same injury the past 5 games. Each injury he has had was caused by another one. Its disrespectful to say Billups 2.0. JJ has been far more productive in his few games than Chauncey was the entire tenure with the Clips.

Brian Cook Anyone?

@ShamsCharania: Free agent Brian Cook, with Utah Jazz in October, has started gauging leaguewide interest, source tells RealGM. Cook is training in L.A.

How is that disrespectful? Maybe you're reading too much into a simple comment. In terms of time played in less than 1/2 a season due to injuries, a comparison can be made without insulting. Jeez, lighten up Francis.

Agreed - it's not a knock on jj redicks skills to say he has been brittle this year. We all know what he can do for us which is why we want him back. I don't think anyone wanted billups to be on the court last year he was over the hill.

We all think Dudley is trash right now, right? So people call him Gomes 2.0, correct? Aren't they using that in a derogatory/disrespectful way? I believe so. I just took from what I have seen on this site and had predetermined that anything former clipper 2.0 was being used negatively. Your statement was in the air. I could have been disrespectful it could not have been. Its hard to tell. Now if you said "Billups 2.0 in regards to injury and missed games not in regards to production" or something of that nature it would be easier to determine how the term was being used that is all. Its all good. I just feel calling JJ Reddick Billups 2.0 is not the best comparison IMO. Again Its all good though wink Very Happy

Nah... Grant was over the hill... Chauncey was over the hill, down the other side, across the beach, on a ship, sailed over the ocean to Tibet, then over the Himalayas and back down the other side, in a cemetery with one foot in the grave.

It's all good but I thought the first sentence left little room for error.

JJ's not usually brittle...and he's certainly not as old as Chauncey. Just bad luck. Maybe working a little harder for Doc than he's had to for SVG. And let's face it, the hand thing was pretty much a freak injury. He'll be alright down the stretch.

It's safe to safe to say JJ has been Brittle as hell this season.

He comes back from a wrist injury after missing 20 games only

to injure 3 other body parts in 4 games.

come on.

Haha yikes. Man, we were lucky enough to find someone to take him off our hands once, we won't be so lucky a second time.

I'm so pumped for this game- it's the one game I get to go to this season, so we better get this W!

@GameReporter32: @EricPatten Is Sasha still on the team

@EricPatten: @GameReporter32 yes

I hope Sahsa and Reggie can make some shots. Its been a tight-game type of night in the game of basketball. I have a feeling there will be a game-winner in the Clippers favor tonight. I hope its not the close. My nerves are shot after those Miami and Denver games

Bummer that Willie also has a sore hip. This team just can't catch a break in having everyone healthy. I hope after the All-Star break the Clippers will be a full squad, no injuries. That would be something.

Ariza has 10 three's tonight, 10/14. I know someone is probably thinking "you can't whine anymore about that non-trade", but I've whined since the first time it came out and I'll continue to whine about it, lol
