I realized that I'm nowhere near as stressed about the team as last year. With Doc I've gotten mad about 3-4 times, with Vinny it was 300 by all star break. Doc makes brilliant subs and overall decisions in comparison. My only consistent gripe is not playing Bullock more, who plays well every time he gets minutes. Then again we can afford to slowly bring a rookie along.

I'm also noticing we are improving as the season goes on and not peaking early, which gives me more hope for the playoffs. Coaches need to really keep pounding defense into this team and everything else will just come down to health. The offense is BRILLIANT and I have zero complaints with it.

Anybody else feel much more at ease about this squaf?

I definitely know what you are talking about. I have felt more at ease with Doc's decision making. I might not like some of his moves, signings of Hedo or Vujevic; but don't feel like they are just empty signings. They seem to have a purpose, even though they might not work out as planned. I haven't been the biggest fan with his fascination with guys who beat him before, but it's of little consequence in my opinion. Doc the coach has been great, maybe Doc the GM still has me scratching my head a bit once in a while; but I do feel much more comfortable with the team and the direction. I do like that he takes his mistakes and moves on.

The biggest thing that I have been surprised by, and didn't really know about Doc. Is that the amount of support and growth he has supported amongst our younger players. Blake, DJ and Collison (Bullock could possibly be included in the near future) have grown immensely in my opinion. I know Collison has had flashes in the past, but I really had doubts and have grown to really like his game. Blake has moved into a whole new level, and is really just taking over. DJ should be the most improved player if he remains at this level, and could very likely be challenging for defensive player of the year by next year.

Whether we win it all this year or not, I feel like we will be challenging consistently and will only be getting better. If not this year, I feel it is only a matter of time.

Honestly, 86. You need a shrink during the NBA season.

I was worried about our recent performance against the teams we might be facing in the playoffs, but last night put my mind to ease about that. The backup big situation and the SF position are still causes for concern, though. Regardless, this is waaayyyyy better than Vinnyball.

Doc is a much much better coach and his influence is huge. I'm glad that the offense has stopped chucking threes and focused more on getting hire percentage shots. Despite their best efforts, we still aren't a great long ball team. My biggest concern aside from our lack of athleticism on perimeter and paltry back up bigs is the defense.

Defense, team rebounding, and if we need a long C/PF is still a concern.

We have been doing great considering our starting backcourt hasn't been healthy for pretty much the entire season.

It's unfortunate that I have to ban you Grill. I've been beyond generous about warnings for personal attacks and even told you about it just 3 days ago. You and I have had this talk 8-9 times. That's 3 times what's required to ban per forum rules. Wish you the best my friend.

Feeling a lot less stressed when DJ's been hitting clutch FTs multiple games. Still need a backup big though. Once Blake / DJ gets in foul trouble, chances are we aren't going to win.

Yea the backup big proble has been less of an issue since we picked up Hedo. Although a gritty backup center would be great

Namzug great points. Don't forget Crawford learning to play defense and play off the ball at 33 thanks to our coaches. Imagine if Doc/Gentry molded a young Jamal? Guy has been very consistent on D, which nobody expected.

Doc Rivers brings championship experience, and immense coaching experience. With those comes the authority, vision & leadership that the Clippers lacked in previous seasons under Del Negro. His ability to help elevate the games of certain Clipper players cannot be understated.

Doc has been a calming influence on the sidelines, and the players have be extremely receptive of him.

I'm on that Doc Rivers plan - not worried about playoff seeds anymore, as long as we are continually gelling as a team and doing things the right way. Example.. we lose on a dagger by Randy Foye, but I wasn't devastated because we played it the right way at the end.

also 86.. you didn't really just ban Grill over that, did you? All of us could use a shrink with our obsession with the Clips. Haha

Del Negro was just a stressful coach, mostly because was an obviously terrible coach that was out of his league, so it was easy to question basically every move he made.

Ohmeohmy it's a context thing. Grillinnap has a very long history of personal attacks. Specifically towards me, despite my constant leniency. I'm just following David's 3 and gone rule. This forum is getting out of hand with personal attacks and I warned just 3 days ago.

Less Stressed , but More Nervous. These games that we probably would never be in last season are always close

Minnesota -

Link

Portland -

Link

And Denver, Miami, Warriors, ETC.

My nerves are shot from all these close games ,but its good we are in all these games because come playoff time all the games will be close. Against Portland last night we finally got on the winning end of these close games against these playoff teams. Its good for us. Not Stressed just Nervous because I know this team can win every single game. I think we have OKC 2x SA 2x Houston 2x and Portland 1 more time.

If we win all those games. Whew Boy!

I'm just worried about the consistency of our defense, if we got through the PO it will be a winning mode for the Clips.

Reasons for why I think Clippers can win championship based on last night: 1. We did not back down from the blazers, it was a staring contest and we DIDN'T blink. 2. Absolutely RIDICULOUS shots made by blazers those 3s hand in face great defense and still... I mean Really? and we didn't get phased. 3. Didn't get phased by some bull ref calls. 4. We now have TWO legit scorers that can play in the clutch, and Crawford, and then DJ stepped up when we needed him to! 5. We finished the game off with defense and put them away with defense.

And to answer the question, more stressed now then 5 (and 10 and 15) years ago when we sucked. When a team sucks you have no expectations and wins are just bonus fun. Now there are high expectations and the tensions is thick. NOw I am worried about playoff seating and having to face those damn "Dubs" again.
