I've never really been a fan of small ball, and have felt that we have been on the short side out on the perimeter for a long time now. I've wanted to see Bullock get a few more tries at the 2 to add some length. Watching the game against Portland (which I know are a tall team), feel like we are very lean on tall players on the perimeter. Could this be a contributing factor in why it seems jump shooting teams seem to have good nights against us? I found this article on the prototypical size....

Jamal is long enough & quick, JJ doesn't have the longest reach, but he is pretty fast. CP obviously in the same category, but he is even quicker, + his savvy cannot be understated. Dudley has the length, but unfortunately terribly lacking in speed. Bullock & Barnes have the length & speed.

So overall, I'm not sure if there is a lack of length to challenge jumpers. The Clipper 3 point defense is actually much improved from last season. With guys like Durant & Aldridge, you pretty much have to just get a hand up to block their vision and hope they miss.

After watching don't think Bullock has the quickness to guard the leagues two guards yet. Put him against a bigger body who relies on strength like a Joe Johnson maybe but the three and stretch 4's he is better off so we have no chance. Barnes seems slower side to side on defense this year but I would of liked to have seen more Barnes and Dudley combination when we go against bigger wings.

We lead the league in opposing 3pt%, the weakness of our defense is defensive rebounding and defending at the basket. More length would help some in those areas, but you would need to make trade offs in other areas. I thought our best run on defense last night came with a Dudley-Collison-Paul back court and that a lineup that sacrifices length for guys that stronger making their perimeter rotations.

Lack of length shows like when we were up against Indiana. We looked like hobbits out there. doesn't mean it won't work, like when Darren cuts through the trees and makes layups (which honestly I can never fathom how he does it, but he does).

I just feel this is an issue when we play good jump shooting teams. Specifically Golden State and Portland, I might just be suffering from watching them sink contested shot after contested shot. I didn't feel like we were playing that bad defense the entire game, but they kept making shots. I have always preferred longer players; put the two together and you get this thread.

Well we also went with a three guard lineup with Paul and Collison. If we went traditional vs Portland, there wouldn't have been issues

Ramona Shelburne: Clippers were happy with @SashaVujacic during his first 10-day. Delay in decision on 2nd 10-day is due to All-Star Break

Ramona Shelburne: Sasha Vujacic's 10-day contract w/ Clips expired tonight. They'll wait until after the break to decide whether to sign another 10-day.

Why would we sign Sassha to another 10 day contract? I believe he played what 5-10 minutes total. Do not understand.

Is Jamison going to play more? I can't believe we are backing up Griffin with Hedo.

We are who we are at this point. We have proven to be able to

beat anybody even without a healthy team.

Blake has become Unstoppable. Cp3 is still the best

PG in the league and clutch. Jamal had his season slump

already and has been on fire putting up almost 24 ppg.

When Reddick is healthy he is good for 15-17ppg.

DJ is becoming more and more defensive conscious

and by PO will probably have a breakout showcase

with monster defensive impact.

Collison has proven he can come in and score

and run the offense to a solid capacity.

We have weaknesses as well as strengths

like every team.

I'm content we can win a championship with

what we have fully healthy.

I still feel that we should swap Dudley for LR Mbah a Moute. I'd throw in a second rounder if I had to.

We'd lose some shooting, but the first team has plenty of firepower between Griffin, Paul, and Redick. Adding an elite on-ball defender propels us into the leagues elite defenses. Sign a FA big like Gortat with the MLE, and draft PG Aaron Craft (defense + pass first), and either hope Collison picks up his option, or grab Nash for the minimum.

DJ/Gortat/Hollins

Griffin/DJ/Turk

LR Mbah a Moute/Barnes/Bullock

Redick/Crawford/Green

Paul/Collison/Craft

We shall see what happens at the trade deadline...

YEa but you can't just say "Lose some shooting" when our entire PO

gameplan is to put shooters around Blake so you can't pack the

paint against him.

Putting Mbah and Barnes on the same team would kill

that game plan. To me there is no point in keeping Barnes

and Mbah on the same team, when their roles are exactly the

same.

I'd keep dudley and trade barnes.

As much flack as we give Dudley I have a feeling he is

going to be very valuable around playoff time when

the game becomes half court.

Who would trade their left sack for ariza right now, length, quick, defense minded and now holding is own as a scorer, to bad we missed that train

If they sign him again then they aren't any spots open to make moves. Oh Wait!? Trade Deadline. You don't need an open spot to trade somebody. Hopefully we do trade a couple of people....

Would be a waste of a roster spot with Redick and Green suspected to be back.

I get what you're saying, but I don't see Barnes having much value at the moment.

Ariza would be great. Honestly he'd be a perfect fit. If we could get him for Dudley and/or Barnes I wouldn't mind playing Bullock and Hedo behind him.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=jwedler

Then sign Ivan Johnson after that.

CP/DC

JJ/JC/RB

TA/RB/HT

BG/IJ/HT

DJ/JH/BG

We could then start doing what San Antonio has done in the past and interchanging role players depending on the match up. Do we need D, put in Bullock and Ivan, playmaking Hedo, physical JH and Ivan would scare anybody in the league. Harrelson looks like a younger version of Pekovic in my opinion.
