I was just going to post this - total bs. Paul had way more fan votes than harden

I kinda figured they'd go by position. Even though they don't do that with the front court. It's BS because the way Curry scores, he can definitely slide to the 2-guard position.

Oh, you've done it now, Scottie.

Good luck dealing with a disrespected Chris Paul on Feb 23rd.

Wait, I'm confused...

Curry, Harden, Durant and Love... is this the actual All-Star game or the 3-point shootout?

I am fine with CP3 getting less minutes. Did you guys see the article about how many commitments he has all weekend??

Good. Rather have CP3 play less minutes. Also I hope this makes him angry for our game on the 23rd Smile.

They wanted to stay true the whole "No Defense" thing. They couldn't have picked a better player for that.

That's B.S. move by Scott Brooks, especially with Chris Paul playing in New Orleans. Looking at the voting results, CP3 had almost DOUBLE the # of fan votes than Harden, and was the #3 vote getter for the guard spot behind Stephen Curry & Kobe Bryant. What a joke.

Yup he probably won't show it but I think he will take it personally against Brooks. Just sucks for him not starting in N.O., when he certainly deserves to.

Completely agrees. Who cares. Making a bigger deal of this then needed. CP also missed 6 weeks.

I kind of figured this would happen, being that Harden did play for Scott Brooks in OKC

Fine for me less chance of injury, as long as he is still in all star.

8 million people watched it last year, up 13% on 2012... 5 times the amount who watched game 6 against Memphis.

The Clippers franchise gained 34% in value over the last fiscal year as opposed to an average of 12% per year since DTS bought the team.

Having All-Stars on the team increases the visibility of the Clippers brand and grows its value. There's a reason Donald is paying tax for the first time in history, and history shows that generally, the teams who spend the most win the most.

Individual accolades also give players confidence in their abilities, and when it comes down to the last 2 minutes of a game 7, a little swagger can make all the difference.

Picked a SG to replace a SG, no big deal. He'll play plenty in the meaningless, non exciting and boring All-star game. Much ado about nothing.

Repped High Quality Post

Meaningless compared to what? Regular season games? Playoff games? Point is they are all just "games" and they are as meaningful as you want them to be.

Personally I enjoy the game of basketball and love to watch the best players in the world play against each other for 48 minutes. I'd much rather watch that then hear that our players are relaxing in Cabo, which isn't very exciting.

I agree with Ekker. This game does not mean anything to our title hopes, UNLESS someone gets hurt...

A lot of things don't mean anything to our title hopes, if Chris Paul takes a dump do we have to make sure it's a championship caliber dump?

If Chris and Blake don't play in the game do our title hopes rise? Nope, so why does it matter?

I don't think that it hurts our title hopes at all to have our go-to guys hobnobbing with league officials in a chill, party atmosphere, outside of the competitive arena.

A "superstar call" for CP3 could be the difference in a playoff series. A rescinded technical for Blake could be the difference in playoff seeding if he maxes out before that last game of the season against Portland.

Players get hurt every day in practice... should we outlaw that, too? If it's good enough for Popovich and his players to go, it's good enough for us.

FFS... if you don't like it don't watch it, but all this hipster sh*t just irks me.

Just let the players and those of us who do enjoy the ASG enjoy it.

CP said the game is important and meaningful to him. Plus he's very proud, like how he stands up to talk show hosts who want to put the Clipps down. He won't let anyone disrespect him, look at what happened when Pau tried to son him.

That's exactly what it is. People love to go against the grain, but more importantly they love to make sure everybody knows they are going against the grain.

Everybody just chill OUT! The All-Star game is just a glorified pick-up game with the best players in the world playing against each other where defense is almost non-existent. Nobody's getting hurt especially not Hulk Griffin!

So Chris Paul not starting is going to prevent him from getting a superstar call or BG not getting a T?? News to me....in any event, it should not be a surprise that HArden was picked over CP. Harden played for Brooks, is a SG, and has played significantly more games than Paul.

I do like watching it and I will watch it, but at the end of the day, the all star game is just an exhibition.

Did I say that? News to me... but them not being there might make a difference. Superstars are, by definition, All-Stars and I'm sick of hearing that it's meaningless or might somehow hinder our chances of winning a championship. It hasn't hurt LeBron, Wade, Dirk, Kobe, Duncan, Parker, Garnett or Pierce in recent years.

As Caps said, ALL sports are as important or as meaningless as we fans believe them to be. They're ALL exhibitions. Personally, I couldn't give a flying f*ck about the Superbowl or the World Series, but I have friends who look forward to them all year long and even arrange their vacation time around those events.

The fact is, NBA players consider being selected for this game as an honor. I think it's disingenuous of so-called fans to scoff at the idea of the 24 best players in the world going head-to-head... even if it is "just an exhibition". What harm does it do?

Some Clippers fans have developed a kind of Stockholm syndrome with our sorry history and become hooked on a losing mentality. Either that, or they think it gives them some kind of cool credibility to follow a loser. Some have even expressed regret at trading Eric "DNP" Gordon for CHRIS F*CKING PAUL! Now rooting for an underdog is admirable, but turning one's back on that underdog when he finally has his day just makes that person an idiot in my opinion.

Maybe all this talk of the ASG being meaningless stems from the fact that we've rarely had a single player on the roster who has been good enough to be invited. Kind of like how laker fans are pouring scorn on this entire NBA season as if it's "meaningless" because it's all about the draft. Like: "Pfff! Why would I want to go to that party anyway?" ...after you don't get invited.

Well... I like that the Clippers are winning, I like that we're going to the playoffs for the 3rd straight year, I like that we have All-Stars and I don't think my own cred has taken a hit... because I was a fan before any of those things happened. People who know me know that, and they're happy for me that my favorite team is finally enjoying a little success. Anybody who doesn't know me, and calls me bandwagon... well, I don't give a rat's arse about them.

If I did, I'd probably jump ship and start following the Bucks. Now that would be hipster. Those fans must feel so much "cooler" right now than when they won the championship.

It just dawned on me that Blake will probably be playing Center at the ASG...so he'll be jumping the opening tip. Against who, I wonder?

Stop arguing guys and just enjoy the moment. Pre-Blake Griffin era, we would be lucky if we even have an All-Star representing the team, let alone 2 and a starter. I don't care if CP3 did not get to be a starter, he still representing us as a Clippers, along with Blake Griffin.

I think Kevin Love will be doing the tip off. But maybe Blake since he has better hops. It will be interesting. I bet Lebron does the tip off for the East.

People in this thread should try to remember these

guys are human beings and like recognition for their

hardwork just like every other human being on this planet.

Have any of you ever gotten employee of the month?

Probably didn't mean much to your co-workers, but I'm

sure it meant a lot TO YOU that your hard work was being appreciated.

These guys work extremely hard to be the best, and to snub

CP3 in his All Star home coming to NO is a travesty IMO.

Scott brooks is a hoe-cake for that. The best PG in the world

not starting in the All-Star game is insane to me.

If he did play he probably would have more votes than Curry. He had a sizable lead before going down. It sucks that he can't start especially since this is a special all star game for him. Hopefully he saves some of that anger for the Rockets(Harden) and Thunder(Brooks). Razz.

i never said the all star game is "unhip" nor am i raising my nose in the air at it. i do honestly think it's boring though and rarely watch more than a few minutes of it. i used to be all over the whole AS weekend and even that has been watered down into some even that appears to be "trying to hard". tonight was boring as heck and turned out to be nothing more than a rap concert with intermissions for some players half-assing it in various competitions.

all I'm saying is that the all star game is just a chance for athletes to mingle with each other and rappers sitting courtside, go 50% in a game while occasionally attempt an entertaining play, and for starters, pat themselves on the back for being among the most marketable players in the league (i.e. voted in by the fans). its an event that's not for everyone, obviously. if you enjoy it, enjoy away.

i mean, if you asked me who started the ASG last year i could not even tell you. i had to look up on wiki to remind myself that CP actually won MVP in last year's game.

and going back to the original point, the only difference between those that start and those that come off the bench is that you get introduced like a WWE wrestler (well actually everyone does, only you get introduced last and probably have more of a chance to dance and make a fool of yourself). players like CP don't get labeled as "4 time NBA All-Star Starter", instead its "7 time NBA All-Star".

Thus, it's all irrelevant entertainment.

some people would make that assumption, but it at first impression it does come across as a snub because cp had 3rd most starter votes but at the end of the day its just an exhibition game so means pretty much nothing in the grand scheme of things

TBH, I don't really see what the fuss is. He's still an all-star, even if he doesn't end up starting. If he uses this as motivation to turn it up for the playoffs, all the better.
