Cavs have been trying to get rid of Jack and can use Dudley as a replacement for Luol Deng once he leaves

The ESPN analysis of this brilliant trade says it cots us 2-3 more wins and nets the Knicks 2-3 more wins. Damn, sounds like a winner now !

This trade could be a disaster. I'm never a fan of demolishing team

chemistry when you are already a top team in the league.

Trading Collison for Felton just doesn't make since to me. Felton

stinks this season, collison has been decent thus far.

Our bench is already struggling and adding Felton to it would

probably decimate any hope of having a mildly effective bench.

I feel like much of our problem would be solved

if we Gave bullock Way more minutes. He has been

better than Barnes and Dudley in his limited minutes as

of late.

Right now I'd focus on getting a backup big, get rid of

barnes/dudley if possible, and playing bullock 20 mpg, and

see what happens.

What chemistry? A large portion of this roster looks like they've never touched a basketball before this season. I have no problem with shaking up a roster that isn't going to do anything in the playoffs.

Felton probably isn't coming here if the trade gets done. The Knicks are delusionally trying to push him onto any team that wants Shumpert, but Felton has absolutely no value.

I agree with this one. this is a Clippers of old maneuver, shades of Elgin. Just when things get firing the right way and we head in the right way we take our team apart, leave 2-3 core guys and then wonder why we are looking at bouncing ping pong balls again.

Collison has been beyond good for this team, lets get rid of him. Signed,Elgin Baylor.

Last year the team looked great in regular season and we all know what happened in playoffs. We have major weaknesses that will be exploited. We need way more athleticism on perimeter. Backup point guards don't win playoff series. Defensive stoppers help way more. I love collison but I am in favor of any trade that addresses weaknesses

No, an Elgin move would be to not address the obvious flaws in the roster and just be happy with making the playoffs and losing in the first round.

Not sure where they'd get a better haul for Deng. What's a non-contending team going to give for a half-season rental?

Off the top of my head, think maybe PHX, Charlotte, Portland or N.O. could offer better deals.

Just saying trying to get rid of an injured player is very tough. We'll see

Yup, exactly, and when everyone is healthy, where are the SG minutes with Redick and Jamal? They already eat into the SF minutes to accommodate both, so Shumpert doesn't make sense unless he's basically the starting SF.

Voyeur, you're right, we would need a backup PG, but about $3M for two more years? Sheesh, and how do the rotations work?

Paul 34 / Felton 14

Redick 28 / Jamal 20

Shumpert? 22 /

Then you have 26 minutes at SF to split between Barnes, Dudley, and get another 8 MPG for Jamal? Doesn't make sense.

So maybe you are making the trade anticipating moving a SF, what if that falls through? If you can get both agreed on, then sure

The only way I'd even think about doing that deal with NY, IF they insist on us taking back Felton, is for them to take back Barnes. Then at least it's a sideways move, LOL.

Oh and no way should Reggie be included. Period.

We could give Reggie if they are giving us Hardaway.

Either way no to Felton. In just about any situation.

Neither does trading them for other backup point guards.

Yea, Felton sucks for us.

Hardaway has proven a lot more as a rookie than Reggie. 1092 minutes, 21 mpg over 52 games, 9.4 PPG (16.2 pts/36), and shooting 38.7% 3Pt as well as 45.2% FG, yea, they'll just drop the phone. I wouldn't trade Hardaway for Reggie if I had him

Don't mind Shumpert but rather have a big body over Felton, we don't need a 5 guard rotation going into the PO unless theres another deal in the works for Jamal that we don't know about.

On face value if we are trading Collison its a no win, no loss trade, we really should be trying to get rid of our backlog of trash , Duds, Mullins, Jameson to make this trade worthwhile.

Yeah, guys that have been in the NBA longer than most on this site have been alive are idiots. They got to where they are because of their good looks and "sucking up"

I know I was being a biased delusional fan. I hear a lot of New York fans now say that Felton is actually worth a crap and it was getting under my skin. I personally feel that rating them off this year alone Collison and Shumpert aren't that far off. Offense for Defense equivalents. If they keep including Felton then we should keep including Hardaway and maybe they'll get the point.

Or this is just all talk from the Knicks and Doc and Gary are sitting back and laughing? Rumors are rumors... can't think anything of them until it is official. Come back and check tomorrow afternoon. Then you can either freak out or be happy.

Trading a PG who has a 10 ppg average for a shooting guard that averages 7 ppg makes sense,in bizzaro world. We need to get taller,we got shooters.

i think its safe to say that Doc and Gary have forgotten more about basketball today than we will ever know. so if they want to make a trade, i'm for it.

i'm guessing Doc knows our needs more than a fan.

I like the idea of doing something, but this is not it. Stick to the plan, dudley/barnes for a backup big. What happened with Hawes?

I know Shumpert's stats aren't impressive and I actually really like Collison, but Shumpert is a defensive minded player. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but we don't have ANY defensive players other than DJ. On paper, this might not look too favorable for us, but I think it would be interesting to see an defensive minded wing player on this team for once. When was the last time we had one? Maybe Quinton Ross?

Every keeps talking about how we're all offense, so maybe a guy like Shumpert is what we need. Again, I'm a huge Collison and wish we could keep him, but do we need defense.

Yes, we need a defensive big man.

K-Mart and Shumpert would help us so much on the defensive end.

Positions aren't as defined as they were 20 years ago, I don't really consider Shumpert a shooting guard or a small forward, he's a wing, an incredibly athletic wing with terrific defensive skills and upside.

Nobody in the league can stop Durant. However, Shumpert can absolutely slow down Westbrook, Tony Parker, Ginobili, Harden and every other ball handler in the West not named Durant. If you're worried about LeBron and Paul George, getting way ahead of yourself, we need to get through the West first and foremost.

I doubt we are going to advance in the playoffs because of the outstanding play of our backup point guard. Advancing because we defended the wings of the West sounds more feasible.

I really like Collison, but would be pretty stoked with Shumpert.

If anyone honestly believes Felton will be okay coming off the bench and playing limited minutes they are kidding themselves and Shumpert is even worse on offense than Dudz and Barnes at this point. IMO this is coming all from the knicks side

don't you guys think bullock has the potential to be better than shumpert. he already looks like he's a better shooter and has solid defense. he can only get better from here

The scarier part is if either of those two have to be a starter for unseen reasons. How will we fare then.

Probably the most likely outcome. I'd be down. At least we get younger, albeit a bit fatter.

As terrible as Felton's contract is, I maaay swallow it if they take barnes and we keep bullock. Having shumpert and bullock on nice deals sort of mitigates the albatross of Felton. I love collison but who knows if he stays next year.

Latest from Marc Stein (hope the deal goes through)!!

"Latest Knicks buzz: Hearing Knicks' long-running chase of Kenneth Faried now trending toward simpler swap of Beno Udrih for Jordan Hamilton"

"Which would suggest Knicks & Clips getting closer to THEIR deal now that Matt Barnes expected to take Reggie Bullock's place in final form"

"Clips do NOT want to take back RFelton's contract w/Shumpert for DCollison. But inserting Matt Barnes instead of Bullock softens hit for LAC"

"As we reported earlier today: Knicks telling teams they will NOT part with Shumpert unless you furnish a first-rounder or take back Felton"

i like Shumpert!!! he can attack the rim from the wing which we have needed for a long time and he defends. He will add to our team even if he doesn't score much because teams will know if he puts the ball on the floor he is attacking the rim and not looking for a jump shot which will put pressure on the defense.

I would hate losing Collison though and would wish the team keep him informed and be professional with him

I do not mind this deal actually. You can run

Starters

Chris Paul

JJ Reddick

????

Blake Griffin

Deandre Jordan

On the bench Jamal can run the point if needed. He is very capable even though I do not think he likes it

I don't see how this trade makes us better.

Matt Barnes is our best defender. The best players in the league are SF. Who's gonna guard those SF? Shumpert? A 6'5" guard?!?!

Doesn't make sense. This doesn't help us at all. This makes the team worse.

Hoping the Collison/Barnes deal goes through. People will be surprised with Felton, he's not that bad when he starts new situations, but over time seems like expectations and the media really get to him.

Don't think it makes us Worse...actually think it's a sideways move. Moves Reggie closer into the rotation which is a good thing.
