Glen has a player option I believe - will likely opt out low money.

I heard that the second year is a player option, so it's likely that we will have to pay more to keep him.

So did we get Big Baby for cheap? Or the other way around?

Los Angeles Times

"Glen Davis signed a two-year deal with the Clippers. He has a player option for next season for the veteran's minimum of $1.4 million. He'll earn a prorated version of that for the rest of the season, around $350,000."

Thanks. Seems unlikely he would sign for the vets min.

I think Orlando is paying him something next season & whatever we pay him gets deducted from that, so the minimum is all he needs next year.

Clippers got a great deal for him, but I'm pretty sure he'll opt out after this season.

if we do good in the PO he'll stay.

The Magic are also paying him next year and I'm pretty sure any money he makes will offset what Orlando pays him, so he no incentive to play for more than minimum next year.

That's not a skill of his since he can't really jump and isn't tall. His rebounding is not impressive, but he's fat and can box out and either DJ or Blake can go rip down the rebound.

And if we do really well... it won't matter.

I was at the Houston Game. I'll tell you what Big Baby changed

the whole tide of the game.

The crowd was starting to die, and the crowd had a sense

we were playing too soft.

Big baby got on the floor and got physical right away. It seemed

to pump everyone up.

I wasn't sure about big baby, but in his first game his aggressiveness

is exactly what we needed.

Turk on the other hand looks old, slow, and embarrassing.

Ahhhhh he isn't fat. Saying that is like Stephen Jackson, Lamar Odom, and Dudley type fat. Big Baby is just big and stout lol

More playing time for Davis and for Hollins more time for cheering at the bench.

When Dudley and Davis were standing next to each last game Dudley was clearly not the fat one, nor was he one completely gassed and sucking wind after playing 5 minutes. I'm very happy to have Davis but dude needs to get into better shape; so does Dudley, but not he's much closer to where he needs to be physically.

How do you lose your wind in a week and a half? Baby was playing serious minutes in orlando.

Davis looked like he playing a lot harder for us than he did in Orlando, which is good for us, it means he's motivated and wants to play with intensity, I don't think he was doing that much Orlando, which is probably why he got released with a year and half left on his contract. If he's going to keep playing with that intensity though, he'll need to shape up a bit, but if he's motivated he should be able to do it, he's done it before. Maybe some of it was nerves though, he was all hyper before he got out there or maybe he was run into the ground at practice during the day and was tired from that.

Well Davis has never really been "in shape" though, they sort of ask him to be in better shape every single year, but he has been in better shape than he is at the current moment. He could have been gassed so quickly because of an adrenaline burst from playing on a new team though.

Orlando seemed to primarily release him because he was making a lot more than he should be for one, secondly, he seemed to have been causing a bit of trouble there, and third because they have young guys they want to give minutes to and Davis was taking minutes from those guys while actually not helping them win any more games, lol. He wasn't part of their future, so more minutes for Tobias, Nicholson, etc was the best choice.

Sounds good, I certainly think he should help

Don't really need to bash Hedo in order to give props to Davis though

This is funny comment to see. I thought you said Dudley was not out of shape.

Even if it doesn't, having a fat guy on the team might go some way toward pleasing those who kept calling for us to bring Sofo over... only difference is that Big Baby can actually, you know, play basketball.

Yeah, I like how he just eats up space down low.

You thought wrong? I've said several times that I thought his knee injury likely made it difficult to maintain full NBA level fitness. The main treatment for tendonitis is rest, it's hard to balance that with being in top condition, particularly if you are naturally a guy that carries some weight.

The more integrated Big Baby gets in the Clippers second unit the better they're going to look. Looking good so far.

Its something we've needed rebounding wise, just to keep 1.5 more persons off the glass, yes, that half person, and that can help, but he needs to be paired with some athletic or more mobile person who will go get the rebounds. He can clear space, but he can't specifically get up or cover a ton of ground to reign in the rebounds. He's no Reggie Evans in terms of rebound up hustle

In his introductory game against Houston his defense was against Howard. I don't think Houston managed much offense during those short minutes he was out there. I for one can't wait to see what Big Baby will do against Memphis.

Good observation. I was also at the Houston game, and I can vouche for what you just observed. There are just some players that may not register gaudy stats, but can have a good influence on the course of the game.
